Why did Capello want to manage England?
The DFB was searching for successful international managers at the time, and he is a native speaker of German. That's why they asked him; I guess. He obviously wasn't interested though, so you might be right.
Klinsmann is a bad coach, but Löw is not really better. He failed 2006, 2008, 2010 and even 2012 (with the best team in the EURO!). I hope he gets fired before the World Cup 2014 - but looks like its not gonna happen. The DFB is just a office full of idiots. They think Semis and Final-Losses are a Success... -_-

I think any country in the world bar spain would happily take our recent results. Spain simply has better overall quality of players (as was the case with Italy in 2006, when the most of the german players were rather unexperienced). In 2012, I think very few people in country were actually expecting the Italy to be game more than a warmup before the final (at least I and a lot of football fans I know didn't). So I can't really put the finger on Löw, but imho this still was the first time he really made a mistake when it truely mattered, And if you look at state of our team when he (and Klinsmann) took over in 2004, this is still very acceptable at least. The best team doesn't always win, just look at barcelona recently.
If you think the DFB are idiots, have you ever looked at other football associations? Or other sports associations in general?
This morning, according to reports in the Spanish and Turkish press, Turkish former referee and current sports broadcaster Ahmet Çakar has claimed that UEFA manipulated the recent draws for the Champions League and Europa League, in order to guarantee that big clubs and clubs from the same country would not meet until the semi final stage.
In a broadcast on Turkish television, the ex-referee demonstrated the system that he believes was used to manipulate the draws. He claims that UEFA secretary Gianni Infantino was secretly manipulating a lever, which would cause certain balls in the draw pot to emit a vibration, which the person drawing the balls (which in recent events have included Patrick Kluivert and Steve McManaman) would sense to draw the ‘correct’ balls.

Did Germany really think the game vs Italy was nothing more than a warm up? That strange since Italy was playing well the whole tournament and Italy is almost always a ridiculously tough opponent to break even when they play terrible.

No, of course not but I think most saw us as favorites and in my opinion rightfully so. This game was influenced a lot by a tactical experiment that failed.

Because they paid him an absurd amount of money.
Wenger has the perfect job at Arsenal, I doubt he is going to leave on his own. And hopefully he would want to coach France after that, he's the only high profile French manager left.
And yeah, he is getting asked every two years (at least by journalists) if he wants to coach France, so... dibs :D

Yea... Friendlies only bother me when neither team shows the ambition to go for the win, or try something great. Any game that is a good example of the beautiful game is a good watch, whether its a friendly or the WC final.
nah I totally disagree. A game which doesn't matter is a bore fest no matter how good the play. You can never be sure the defence has given it their best and the players have put all their skills and passion into it. Plus there is so much less pressure. It's the pressure that makes the moment. Stepping up to take a penalty or getting through one on one with the keeps.

You do realize these are not friendlies for Brazil right? They have qualified as hosts for the world cup in 2014 as they are the home nation. All they can play are "friendlies" hence they are playing vs good teams. England Italy Russia are their last 3 games, which are good tests.
