We really need a separate thread for all this messi vs cr7 vs legends of football.
So germany has 2 games vs kazakhstan this week. These are the kind of games where you can basically, but -no disrespect to kazakhstan- with the shape our players are in I'm looking forward to a lot of goals.
To all our US-american football fans, here's what I see coming: With Klinsmann, you will probably struggle with qualifying and have a lot of close games, but in the end you still qualify. And in brazil, this will actually have strengthened the team much more than walking over all your opposition in qualifying. Since he got hired, I can't help the feeling that we will play you in the 2014 knockout round.

Wigan's Callum McManaman is expected to be banned for at least three matches for his challenge on Newcastle defender Massadio Haidara.

Yeah...our back four look extremely raw for these two games. The six defenders on the squad have a combined 12 WCQ appearances...the midfield are gonna have their task cut out for them in this game. It is nice to see that they have 9 MLS players though, even if it's at the expense of more experienced players due to injuries.

As a side note, does anyone know where I should look for tickets for Germany's 2nd June game vs. the U.S. in D.C.?

The game isn't even listed on the schedule on ussoccer.com or Ticket Master. It's really odd.

It's gonna be a real sweat it out to qualify I think (I even think there's a chance we don't make it). The actual biggest issue is Landon Donovan quitting or whatever he's doing. Honestly we are garbage going forward without him, a collection of hoping for fortunate chances or maybe Dempsey makes something. Donovan has no substitute in the entire national team system, not remotely close, and the step down in wide play going forward is absolutely monumental. There is 0 wide quality to step in for him, and the attack creation potential is utterly crippled.
Until the 60 minute sub in the first qualifier that we lost, the position wasn't even filled. There was just a gap, a gaping void where the only wide right player was the back, Timmy Chandler, who came forward occasionally. Then it was filled by Sacha Kljestan who is no great shakes there, and I think plays central for Anderlecht normally.

Do you have Wynne and Opara? I use them all the time in Fifa >: )

Yeah i guess so, i mean sometimes when he did play and play well, he was like injured the next day? I guess his body could never cope with 2 games a week when he joined Man Utd.
And yeah, international Owen <3
Plus like my mate said, Owen played with the best Galactico teams we know. Figo Zidane Owen Carlos Raul...to name a few!

Yeah, I remember Owen fucking his leg up against Sweden, and never really getting back to where he once was. Sad to see, but that's how it is. Still had a good career, but it's a shame his later years were kinda shit due to injuries.

and two - nil. yuuuuuuussssssssssssss This defense is inspiring. Swansea had 57% possession and 0 shots on goal. Nacho got his first goal with Arsenal, and Gervinho even scored! He's been a super sub these last two games. Agreed. Finally The Koss gets some playing time, and Mertesacker didn't go awol in defence. Jenkinson should keep the RB spot for the rest of the season and Monreal is one sick purchase. We still need a no-nonsense defensive midfielder though, in my opinion. I like Capoue, so I'd like to see us get him or one of the Bender bros. Gervinho would be starting if he could actually pass a ball. He's got good pace and works pretty hard, but it's like his brain breaks when he's passing a ball. The Ox looked damn good today as well, with two shots hitting the crossbar. It's also nice to hear the players give credit to Wenger in interviews. I can't believe how gloomy I felt just a few days ago. Lesson learned: never doubt Wenger. I hope Koscielny's performances help Vermaelen find his form again, he seems like a classy guy. If he doesn't, or if he leaves the club or something, I hope they make Arteta the captain. And hopefully they retain Sagna (even if Jenkison becomes the full time RB) so we have some depth. Regarding DMs, I was really hoping in January that they'd sign Yann M'Vila, but I'm kinda glad they didn't now. I actually want Wilshere to be named captain next season. He's the engine and spirit of the team anyway. Future star of ours and England's midfield if he doesn't get fucked over by injuries.

Owen was phenomenal when he made his breakthrough onto the international stage and when he played for Liverpool. I think that his reputation has been slightly tarnished in the eyes of many by his behavior afterwards.

LOL
The Football Association can confirm that no action can be taken against Wigan Athletic's Callum McManaman retrospectively following his side's game against Newcastle United.
Oh English FA, how you love to tarnish your image every other day!

Yeah but the linesman doesn't do a referee's report. Mark Halsey was the referee in charge and he stated at half time and afterwards he did not see it. That means in his report their would of been no mention of that tackle surely as he didn't see it. Thus the FA should be able to take action against it, absolutely stupid.
But yes, even if some reason the report said the linesman saw it and didn't act upon it, then why can't the fkn FA act on it. Their in charge of the rules in England and to enforce them, im pretty sure they could say, the referee missed this tackle we deem it to be a red card and serious foul play thus a 3 match ban. Done, everyone is happy (minus Wigan and the player)

They seriously need to change that ridiculous, asinine rule as soon as possible. For next season and onwards.

If a rule lets tackles like that go unpunished, it should be shoved, tbh.
