We can respect wenger in how he manages to make an average squad finish top 4 every year but still, he would rather make the youth policy look good than doing that little extra to just win something again. How long can the tired argument of the mythical financial stability make you feel better while other clubs are winning titles.

The last time he got a championship was with a all star team. Why don't you guys step over the narrow EPL for a bit and have a look at what Porto has done in the last decade and with what badget comparing to Wenger's. I think there are some lines that when crossed, even the biggest fanboy can admit that maybe Arsene isn't a magician after all. Don't really care, just my 2 cents.

There seems to be some revisionist history at work regarding the great Arsenal team of the early 2000s. Besides Bergkamp, who arrived BEFORE Wenger, none of those players were world class when Arsenal bought them. I suppose Lehmann was world class, but he only cost £1.5m. The team was built using the same methods that Wenger uses today. The entire starting XI of the Invincibles (2003-04) cost under £45m on the transfer market. You make it seem like they were breaking world transfer records to bring in Henry, Wiltord, et al. Wenger has definitely made mistakes, but things won't change much even if he gets sacked. Kroenke clearly bought the club to run it as a profitable business. edit: I'm not saying Wenger shouldn't go, though. After so many years, bringing in some new faces could be beneficial. I just don't think it's realistic to assume that a new manager will turn Arsenal into a perennial title threat and CL semifinalist again.

Fair play is fair play, it's not really written down, sure it's nice to give the ball back to opponent when the game was stopped while they had the ball, but it's not official rule that must be followed. Similar thing happened in that infamous Netherlands - Portugal match although they didn't score from it, no sanctions afterwards I believe. Well UEFA is going to do something about it. UEFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against FC Shakhtar Donetsk player Luiz Adriano following last night's UEFA Champions League group stage match against FC Nordsjælland in Copenhagen. Luiz Adriano faces charges for violation of the principles of conduct (Article 5, UEFA Disciplinary Regulations), and his case will be heard by the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body on Tuesday 27 November.

edit: About Arsenal and Porto comparisons. It's actually kind of funny how similar both side's situations are, while Porto's achievements are more impressive they still struggle to keep a side together long enough to enjoy long term benefits like continuously challenging for a champions league title.

People calling it a huge betting scam; Sack the odds on "first manager to be sacked" after DiMatteo and 24hours before a premier league game? I personally think it is because Harry got offered the Ukraine job, and QPR had to speed things up. Redknapp poised for QPR job Sky Sports understands Harry Redknapp has agreed a deal to succeed Mark Hughes as Queens Park Rangers manager. Third-party ownership of players was another important item on the agenda, with the committee reiterating that third-party ownership should be banned and requesting that FIFA introduce a mandatory regulation to prohibit third-party ownership in football in general. A proposal by FIFA should be submitted to the committee for deliberation at its next meeting. “I am very proud to chair this prestigious committee,” said Michel Platini, adding: “The discussions we had today highlighted the competence of these members to address and effectively tackle crucial areas that impact football.” http://www.fifa.com/aboutfifa/organisation/bodies/news/newsid=1912294/ Portugal overtakes France in the UEFA coefficient ranking next year. Platini, of course, is le pissed.

I just don't think it's realistic to assume that a new manager will turn Arsenal into a perennial title threat and CL semifinalist again. Sure it worked back then no one was really splashing cash like monsters. He wasnt the only one dealing in cheap transfers (relatively) tthe fees he paid for those players were very pretty significant (for the culture at the time). And alot of those players came in or were a part of the France team that dominated stuff left right and center at the turn of the century. So he partly lucked out with his plucking french players. + Show Spoiler + Henry and Vieira he certainly made, but again hes done that with a number of players since who have chosen not to stay because of the teams around them. Wiltord wasnt really even that good and he wasnt a sure starter in that team either. Arsenal got Pires cheap sure, but they were fighting Juve and Madrid for him and he CHOSE Arsenal. How many players would do that today. Ashley Cole and Sol Campbell were both bonafide top defenders in the country (and the world) when they joined. Campbell wouldnt have gotten the kind of shit from Spurs if he wasnt. A club that can make players willing to risk being a Judas to his old set of fans is a big fucking club. Moving on Ljunberg great signing high IQ player,. Toure got carried by Campbell hard. Lehmann was just about ok when he came in nothing special and I dont think outside of raw shotstopping ability he was that great anyway. Lauren was an underrated monster. Gilberto Silva, world cup winner. His methods might have worked then, they dont work now. The teams he built before attracted top players. I dont care what you want to call it, transfer fees wages whatever if players come to your club because.. "meh why not" Something is wrong. if he has the team he has right now but a marquee signing rather than Girouds and Artetas he keeps RVP maybe even Song, Just imagine the difference that little bit would take. I dont see how people didnt have a problem with Song leaving last year. His frailties aside he was statistically Arsenals biggest goal provider. I dont think firing Wenger will change anything either. But that doesnt mean what hes doing now works. As I said Corner stores can be profitable business too.

Very interesting article on the 'myth' of 'Fergie time'. It comes with some insightful stats as well, though the final conclusion might be a tad obvious. Here's a snippet: Former Premier League referee Graham Poll says that when you're refereeing, you don't believe in Fergie time. "You dispel it as popular myth of teams that are jealous of Manchester United's success." But when you take a step back, he says, you realise there could be something in it. "I think it would be too easy to just say it's rubbish. When you analyse and think psychologically what happens, the pressure that's on you at Old Trafford or the Emirates or Stamford Bridge, the pressure that is implied upon you must have an effect, even if subconsciously."
