Two quick questions:
1. For the daily squatting to max. Do I do only 1 single at my daily max and then do the back-up sets or should I do several singles at the daily max? Or just go by feel? 2. For Chin-Ups, does anyone know a good way to train the very top of the movement? I can now break 90° with my elbows, but cannot yet get my chin above the bar. Band-Assisted is not working too weel I feel, since there is barely any band-support at the top. I am thinking probably some biceps-isolation exercises?

For the chin-ups, you tried being on a platform and only doing the top portion of the lift?

That helped me a lot at least.

So many stupid New Year Resolutioners at the gym today, it's ridiculous. Half squats and assisted benches were the theme of the day.
|
Yeah, negatives are a given, I was thinking on top of that. The platform idea is pretty neat actually. I just have to see if I can "build" a high enough platform, but maybe the one I use for my negatives should be expandable. I just thought that gymnasts are doing some biceps isolation work when training for one-arm chins and maybe there is something more effective then just barbell curls. Still need some help with the squat question

THen were like "only do the cardio"
Then they got on treadmills and did like a mile at 4 mph o.o
People are stupid.

lol really people say that? Like, I've been ASKED by morons why do I squat/deadlift so low or so heavy (they listen and disregard my advice) but never like "BRO, U ARE SQUATTING TOO MUCH, STOP IT"
Edit: Also watching rose bowl, american football players are such sick athletes. One guy got extra 2-3 yards by jumping his opponent -.-.

It happens on normal days too. It's just because I sorta look clueless because of how young/small I look. Also gym I go to is like thirty million treadmills and ellipticals, and one small weight room/area off to side. But there is never a wait. Dunno why.
But yeah, I've had some asshats tell me stupid things. I've also had "trainers" tell me stupid things too. But it's been patently wrong. Like I was frontsquatting per doctor orders. And they try to tell me I shouldnt cause it would be more strain on back. o.o
Worst of all is when they basically tell you you are gonna kill yourself, while they partake in exceedingly dangerous activity. (macho idiots benching way more than they really can, without spotter, then failing.)
Best of all, is when bicep curl people just are like "rofl, squat and deadlift suck yo"
I see some of them every day. Doing bicep curls. So goddamn efficient.

You could lose a few pounds but 180 is pretty skinny with a proper build imo. You just need to improve your body composition.

Go by feel. But when you are starting out just go up to a heavy single. Once you are used to it, then you can add in drop down sets.

Jupiter Age: 21 || Height: 5'11 || Weight: 96kg Weight goals -- 8%-10% bodyfat Training goals -- Complete a cut while maintaining my current lifts Then assess my physique from there (most likely bulk in winter again and cut before summer) bringing up any lagging body parts - most likely going to be my chest and shoulders
Current PB Lifts - 210kg x 1 Squat - 115kg x 1 Bench - 185kg x 4 Deadlift - 77.5 x 3 OHP
Hey guys been a while since I posted. Happy New Year everyone!!
I've been doing a 4 day split since I finished madcows (and have a solid strength base). To even out my physique (very lower body dominant). Its been going well, gaining size in my upper body and maintaining my legs. Im definitely more adjusted to the volume and less rest between sets.
In about 2 weeks I'm going to begin a cut. It will most likely go for 3+ months. I've been doing a lot of research on it so far but still wondering if anyone has any advice or pointers? (Malinor I know you've been cutting recently and would love to hear what you have to say).
Im looking forward to taking some photos when I finish the cut as it would be just over 1 years progress by then. I've taken photos throughout the year - before any training, after SS, after madcows, after 4 day split etc

I made several updates throughout the year, and with the help of this amazing, life changing community, I lost 108 lbs over the course of the year. My final goal was to reach 200 lbs body weight by January 1st 2012, but a week ago I reached 202 lbs and decided it was the perfect time to stop losing weight and change goals. Here are before and after pictures :D + Show Spoiler +I was going to post about how I got to this point, but instead I'm gonna keep it short and just say thank you to TL H&F community for helping me get to this point. The only reason I was able to lose the weight was because of what I learned here. And a special thanks to Eshlow for making the thread and filling it with all of the helpful info. I couldn't have done it without you!
Wow man! Well done! You look great! Awesome!
Thanks for the inspiration :D

Your arms will fall off I don't need arms to drink milk or do squats, so boning my brain out doesn't hurt recovery? I know light cardio is good, but I doubt I can qualify it as that.
