Hoping my strength will come back in leaps and bounds, but during my time off from lifting (back to lifting b/c doc finally gave me the OK) I didn't eat nearly as much and didn't have much strenuous activity. Very sad.... Had been up to 245squat/290dlift. The problem I'm running into (never had this problem before and it only happened on the last rep of each set) is that my ass rises faster than my core and then I have to catch up by straining my lower back. Obviously this is bad, and I didn't even think about it when it happened the first set just thought it was a fluke, but I'm genuinely confused as to what's going on. Are my legs stronger than my core now and I have to work that back up? (My injury was to my lower back so I wouldn't be surprised... it's just really depressing) If my core is the problem what are some auxiliaries I can add in to get back to where I was. I'm feelin' pretty blue. Bench working was at 175 when I left and pushing out 5 reps at 165 last night was one of the HARDEST things I've ever done. I literally stalled on my last rep for a good second before I somehow managed to push it up. Dropped to 155 and then 150 for the last two sets b/c my arms were like... trembling dead and couldn't even finish my final set of ASSISTED dips (10lbs) after that. So I'll drop to 160 or maybe 155. Went to the gym today just to find out where my OHP and Power Cleans were and they had dropped from 125 to 115 and 170 to 150, respectively. Hella sad after such crazy near-linear progress up to where I was. I'm hoping all this is just my body going through the motions and I'll be able to go linear up to where I was. This feels jumbled lol. All weights are in lbs, btw. Still WAY higher than what I started at, but setbacks are feelsbadman territory. Just for some reason didn't think I'd be set back so much T_T Edit: My goals for the summer had changed to 280 squat, 325 dlift, 205 bench, 145 OHP, 195 PC (Maxes, not working sets) I'm still thinking I can get there with hard work and persistance, but I was soooooo clooooooseeeeeeee.

You can still make those goals by the end of the summer. The strength comes back fast if you eat enough once you start to require it of yourself again. You already have the cns adaptation. Your body knows how to move that weight, you just have to tell it to GO. As far as that squat, keep better core tightness through the whole motion, try to keep your body mpre vertical, and break from the hips, not the knees. On the way up consciously bring the hips forward, dont just stand up, and always keep your weight on your heels. Youre letting things get shifted forward, which changes the mechanics of the squat. Its a very common problem once you start to approach something "heavy" in a beginning lifter.

Man, I go belt on any weight above 75% max, I really advise that too (from personal experience, think I got it from a book or a youtube vid of the reputable kind) I agree with this. For quite a while I'd not been using a belt (I put on weight that the small belt at my gym no longer fit me, and the XL one is far too big). I ended up buying one and it's a lot better to be honest, it got rid of my soreness I had in my lower back and actually bettered my form. I had found it hard to tense my abs properly it turns out without a belt, I only realised as soon as I put a decent belt on. It gives you something to push against. Can also lift more. With my lower back not being sore I'm not sure if it means I use my lower back less but I doubt it's much, but then I am convinced I give my abs a really good isometric workout since starting to use the belt now as well as they're always really tired now if I do some leg raises. I also recommend a non-tapered belt, 4 inch all the way around is about right.

The last 11 days I've done PSMF (I'll actually have a write up on it, so y'all can see how my journey went). Went from 195+ to 160.2. I've calmed down a bit and thought about it. First of all, I never actually did 305... It was only just what I plugged in for my max on 5/3/1. The most I actually attempted was 260. Second, maybe my form was shit. Third, now I can use this time to let me tendons actively heal as I work back up. And Fourth, I've kept around the same ratio it seems. So alas, not all is bad here in CatchLand. I also had really shitty sleep (less than 5 hours) and too many carbs, which were irresistible for a few hours since I had so little from PSMF. Time to get strong as fuck [again], guys. TLHFALLINEED Holy shit, you lost 15kgs in 3 months? No wonder you lost some strength, but to me it sounds worth it. You should be able to regain that strength pretty damn quickly, and with 15kgs less on your body, the aesthetic difference will be massive.
