Few guesses where the problem is... gonna do some foam rolling tonight! If it's your SI joint, I just had that happen to me. I stopped deadlifting and power cleans for a few weeks and didn't get better, had to go to chiropractor. Two sessions and 100% now. And nice work dimsum and decaf! It's always awesome watching people compete ![]()

http://stronglifts.com/ For flexibility and mental training i use Yoga and the free and paid resources of the "Prevention Magazine" yoga stuff even though its aimed at women.. also the forum board of "yoga basics" is decent. http://www.yogabasics.com/ then for nutrition i use "Precision Nutrition" because Dr. Berardi rules. http://www.precisionnutrition.com/

Two sessions and 100% now. And nice work dimsum and decaf! It's always awesome watching people compete ![]() I've had my SI joint popped out (during rugby season) and put it back in myself. I'm more inclined to think that this is a pirriformis issue, or else something in my low back is sprained. I have control over my hip just fine, but trying to externally rotate my hip joint hurts, as does pulling anything, or performing a situp with a stright lower back. With a rounded back I feel fine. Either way, I can't see a chiropractor or anything like that until I go home, which would be a month from now. One of the other employees at the pool today saw me going through videos of the C&J/snatch from yesterday's competition. Turns out she used to compete, and she gave me the names and numbers of a few coaches in the area. Might have a better place to lift this year than the school gym, with only two squat racks and one platform!

Hopefully I'll manage to PR both my press and my intro to macro economics grade, since I'll hit the gym right after the test.

Anyway, went to workout straight after the test, which almost always sucks for your lifts, but I actually did ok: Squat - 1x3 50, 70 - I failed a couple of heavy squats yesterday, so those were just very easy warm ups. Press - 1x5 40, 50, 1x3 57.5 1x1 65 - this might be a PR, I'm not sure. Anyway, keeping on with the thumbless and trying to incorporate the "bicep flexing" thing into my technique. Deadlifts - 1x3 60, 80, 95, 110, 1x2 130, 1x2 145kg - MASSIVE improvement in my grip, I was really really happy with that. Only had to change from the normal grip on the heavy set, whereas a couple of weeks ago I had to use the hook grip on everything past 100. Strapless shrugs from the rack - 1x3 60, 100, 3x3 130kg - these definitely improved my grip, so I'm gonna try and progress on them further.
