New powerlifting nationals have been anounced, 2-3 June, gonna ditch cutting. Still lost 2,5kg which is quite good, now I can compete U74 with some dehidratation. Will have to work on a new routine to do till then, If I can re squat 202kg and pull 220kg i'll be really happy. I'm sure I can bench at least 130kg now, and prolly 135-140 by then which should be enough to win I hope. Haven't squat on 6 weeks though
Not sure what I'm gonna do yet, feel fry to post suggestions :d I've got 9 weeks to prepare, starting on monday, meeting is saturday of 9th week.

I'm not joking when I say it easily adds 20-50kgs to your max if you know how to use it properly.
Oh how I miss that beauty
how can a barbell do that? oo
The way it is made. It's slightly slimmer and bends more easily so you can put a shitload of tension before the bar even goes off the floor. The lift is halfway done before you even start moving it.
Doesn't that kill the point of numbers are not a measure of strength? If you make a lift easier, ofc you can lift heavier, but a guy lifting 200kg on said barbell would probably be weaker than a guy lifting 190kg on a much stiffer barbell.
Not really, it is still you lifting it but you are not limited by the poor equipment.
@Logros: Nice visible progress there. You don't need a cut. You'd look a lot better with 5-10kg more on you.
Let's say you use the same barbell for squats: You're standing halfway up before you actually have to lift the whole thing. Like a half squat.

Just say another post saying exactly what i said.
Well barbells can help you squat more if they have more flex and you know how to catch the bounce. But you still have to be able to control that weight and have proper techniques. When in doubt I default to whatever equipment the professional league you compete with allows.
Obviously if you're not competing it doesn't really matter, unless there are some muscles you're not working properly by having it too easy at the bottom.
Holy shit on my life batman. Fell asleep and forgot to workout so when I woke up at 1am I was like, well I guess I can workout now? Never been more exhausted in my life. Inches from puking the entire workout for no apparent reason. Can't wait until I hit 180 so I can go back to eating big. Even without the wakeup at 1am workout I can tell the cutting is harming my performance.

11.35: Just finished first 5/3/1 session. I can feel myself growing. I don't have long, DOMS will be here anytime. Good thing I raided that food storage yesterday. I think I feel the DOMS, I think slkdjflksjdf...
Not been this enthusiastic about lifting since I started Starting Strength

It's really fun being able to go for PRs every training with the repouts . What assistance are you doing?

I'm doing Boring but Big with 60% of the weight. It's chins/hanging leg raise/leg curls/chins for assistance; but I'm not 100% if you my gym has a machine for leg curls. Depending on how well the langing leg raises go, I might swap those out for ab wheel roll-outs, but I'm trying to just do the fucking program as it's stated.
EDIT: Jesus christ the DOMS are coming onto me hard.

If dehydration doesn't work, you can always Spit, Puke, and Sweat.
Allergies or a cold or something. Still managed to haul myself to the gym and set two new PRs. This is gonna make my day. That and the fact that it is officially summer.
