Is there anything I can/should do about it? About a year after I started running I had something like that begin to happen to me. To this day I still feel the need to crack my left ankle from time to time. As long as it doesn't cause any pain you're probably fine.

I think its just your ankle joint just popping out of its socket as you exert your legs, but dont quote me on this. If it doesn't hurt or develop any signs of muscle tear/damage than it should be fine ![]()

I'll find out on Saturday if I did enough work to run 10k in 32:30. Nothing to do between now and then but avoid going insane. Luckily running is good for anxiety relief.

That used to be the type of bicycle route I would do when I was younger, and now I just jog it instead. Not very fast, but still nonstop. Yea, I know this feeling. It's definitely a good one! Or the one where you realize you can now run easily at a pace before that was a strong tempo run.

Second was 3x2 miles at race pace (3:15/km or 5:13/mile) with five minutes active recovery in between. Hit the reps in 10:22, 10:22, and 10:20. That it is, GL dude, hope you hit it! So, I haven't actually spent some of the cash I got for my birthday a few months ago and have always wanted to try compression socks. I figure'd I would buy a pair unless anyone here stops me :D Has anyone ever tried or heard 2nd hand about whether they're actually worth the cost and annoyance to put on? My socks at the moment are hitting the end of their life so I need to buy some new ones regardless. So any other sock recommendations would be taken with thanks!

R.e. compression socks, I've been increasingly enamoured of sockless running this summer. My racing flats and my New Balance Minimus shoes are both designed to accomodate running with no socks, and they do so pretty comfortably. If you have shoes that won't chew your feet to hamburger, I suggest giving sockless running a shot before shelling out for compression socks.

I always go through my weight training first (I work out on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sunday is only cardio), then go for my run on a tread (I work out late at night after work) All I have to say is, It sucked a fat bag of dicks. I felt like shit the entire time, and I felt so physically exhausted after 5 mins that I had to stop (well, 10 mins, a 5 min warmup walk). I need to log for the next few weeks to see where I'm at nutrition and sleep wise going into the workouts to know if that's being a factor. On the other end, how much endurance do you lose when not running for an extended period? I was doing the C25k program and I just started week 7 when I got injured. I don't know if it was increased fatigue because I haven't lifted for 1.5 months, or if it was something else, but man, I just felt like horse shit on the treadmill. Anything I can do to speed up my training to get back to where I was?

Because your base conditioning was on the low side, any sideline injury hits like a truck, especially if you're out for over a month. Your best bet is to take it extremely easy, even starting up again near week 1-2 of the C25K program and advance faster if you feel better. Injuries suck, but they happen ![]() I wouldn't be too concerned with sleep and nutrition unless you know it's an area you can improve, I would say 90% it's simply the fact that you lost most of the base you built up over those 7 weeks. I have only been running for a year, and while in the late winter/spring I was doing 40k a week, that number has gotten smaller during the summer, I just can't seem to get anything done when its 29C or high humidity, running at odd hours to try and take advantage of lower temps doesn't really fit with my working schedule. I set my goal to do the run in under 2 hours/run without stopping due to fatigue. After this weekend I get a nice 3 week break before my next half marathon, which compared to this one's flat nature and fully paved paths, will be quite the challenge, I can't wait.

Also, I'm getting some discomfort in my right leg so I'm going to rest a couple of days. I'm not sure if it's due to running or due to strength training so I'll stop both. Hopefully when I get back to it I'll make some progress and get past the 30 minute mark.

While I am super excited to see how I will do, my knee has been acting up the last few weeks and I have had to take it pretty light with my runs out of pure injury fear. Yeehaw! This is the Edmonton half, right? The course is flat as a pancake, and the organization should be ace. Run the first half lazy, and the second half stubborn, and have fun. You can do it! It's an evening race, starting at 7pm MST. I'll definitely post something first chance I get. The results should be posted somewhere on this website when the race wraps, but I'm not sure how quick that will happen. Currently playing Far Cry: Blood Dragon to kill time, and wondering how early is too early for the pre-race meal.
