@L_Master: I thought you were fully training again after you poste about the Crossrun event.

It seems like I'm almost fully healed btw. The doc said it was a nerve damage that healed after not running at all in january and slowly building up distance the last six weeks. I accidentally ran a halfmarathon at an easy sub 2h pace last weekend and I have no issues with my hip at all.
I tried a really fast and short run today and was surprised about my own speed. The longest segment between trafficlights was about 4km long and I ran it at a steady 4:20 min/km pace without feeling extremely worn out in the end. I'm quite optimistic to reach my goal of running a 10k in under 45 minutes this summer. The 30k hill race in seven weeks shouldn't be too much of an issue. I still need some solid hill workouts though.

Nope. Not quite. That was kinda my final test to see if everything was feeling alright.

By the way, set a harder goal...you are going to smash 45. If you can get through 4k at 4:20 without working for it you can already run well under 45 no problem. Setting your goal at sub 41:30 (20:00 5k equivalent), would be a better goal in my opinion.

Hey guys, doing C25K (end of week 5) and I'm finding that my thighs are giving up long before my lungs are. I'm trying to run with a 'natural' style (midfoot strike, 180 cadence) and I can't seem to figure out why my legs burn so much :S

You're probably right. I'm just really hesitant because I know for sure that my hip will get injured again if I add too many high-effort work-outs.

That's probably the good kind of pain. No need to worry here if it's only the muscles that are hurting. Your muscles are tired. That's why they hurt. Make sure to not start your run too fast and keep on walking for a few steps after the run. Maybe try ice or a cold shower for your legs.

How recently did you make the switch?

Also, check your heartrate in general next time, as you are probaly running too fast. Your legs might feel a bit tired at an easy pace, but they won't be burning.

Setting a harder goal shouldnt be cause to go crazy with the workouts. It just means that you might focus some of your goal pace work on 41:30 pace. Given your fitness you aren't going to get tons of benefit from day 10x1k at 4:30 pace.

Don't go crazy with the workouts in an effort to force a faster goal, just use it as a guide for more appropriate training paces.
