Is there anyway to get your protein without splashing out loads of money? i've heard ground beef is pretty good for it's price. there are some cuts of beef that are really cheap like chuck. milk is always good. tuna is good but be careful about the mercury content. another tip is to buy something like chicken breast in bulk and freeze it.

Is there anyway to get your protein without splashing out loads of money? I'm thinking about this and I'm sure you can get those things on the cheap. If you can't afford the higher quality stuff, go for the cheaper options (sainbury's basics, tesco value etc). As far as I'm aware, cheaper quality chicken breast is still better than some alternative protein sauce. Plan out your food for the week well and purchase accordingly. There are always deals at the super markets if you look for them. I know mince (ground beef) is nearly always 2 for £x (£4 down here in the south) or buy one get one free and you can normally get at least two meals out of one of the packs (400g). Same goes for chicken breast. If you find some crazy deal then buy a bunch of it and freeze it. Fresh Fish you probably will have trouble with, eggs no so much. Buy a big box and they'll last up to two weeks if you keep them in the fridge (which you should). I suppose you might be able to find canned tuna for a decent price but I can't stand the stuff. Try looking for the cheaper fish that isn't as popular like pollack, gurnard, grey mullet or any of the fish that isn't cod, haddock, salmon, huss etc. I have no idea if they're as good for you as tuna is (probably not) but they're still a good fish and taste great.

My cholesterol isn't very high but it's a little on the high side and if possible i would like to keep it reasonably low so for those of you eating decent quantities of eggs, how many eggs do you eat a day and do you eat the yolks? I was considering eating a few eggs a day but only the yolk of 1 of them. Also, what are your guys' opinions of those cartons of egg whites? Also I'm gonna start snacking on nuts. Assuming I'm not allergic and don't have any other conditions, are there any adverse effects to eating large quantities of nuts?

I'm fairly certain cholesterol in food has never been linked to cholesterol in your blood stream. Large quantities of nuts are fine using my own experience as anecdotal evidence.

On nuts, if you're prone to any sort of inflammatory bowel type nonsense, avoid them like the plague. They put me down for a weekend recently.

The cartons of egg whites aren't your best bet to gain weight because the yolk has >50% of the calories of an egg (not to mention the lion's share of the nutritive value), so just eat the whole egg. Dietary cholesterol intake has over and over again been shown to have virtually no correlation to serum cholesterol level.

One day I can lift at my max, then the next time not even able to go within 5kg of that. I think my diet is ok, but I'm really only getting 7 hours sleep a night. Could this be the cause? Can be significant detraction on performance, especially if its consistent

The only answer you could possibly get from so scarce information is yes and, potentially a lot. Some people genetically needs less sleep some people need more but this is generally an exeption (although i have not read anything that implies advantages in muscle recuparation so this might not even be relevant). You will simply have to sleep more and find out the benefits for yourself. If you are noticing recurring discrepancies and errors in your physical rutines and if youre not eating airplanes and bicycles, improving your sleep patterns is normally the best place to start.

Besides, it tastes like rotten horse urine. Any tips? What brand are you using? I don't know how rotten horse urine tastes like but the two brands I've tried (purple wraath and scivation xtend) tasted alright with water. For mixability, you just need to shake it and give it some time.

Should I take some time off to recover and slowly ramp up the load? Try shoulder dislocations. Not dislocating but this exercise. It has helped me immensely with my shoulder pain.

Hmm ya good call. I tried some during today's workout and it felt a bit tight. Not a surprise since it's after bench (sore pecs) and a tweaked shoulder but I'll try to do them more regularly. Thanks
