Even in competitive and pro leagues they aren't that many fights. In the NHL you see a fight maybe once every 5 games, and I'm a fan of the team that currently has the most hits and fights in the league.

Speaking of hockey, I thought USA only loses to Canada in Olympics? Did they decide not to let NHL pros play now (again)?

IDK how the pecking order works but I distinctly remember newspeople saying that NHL pros wouldn't be in the Olympics.

We like to play and watch rough sports. I definitely agree with Jimmi, fighting leagues are way better, you dont get slashed in the ankles, and can likely come home without a bunch of debilitating bruises to suffer through the next day.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Oh dude monks are weird as fuck also.
Every culture has it's weird shit.

Yeah, no pros this year. Unfortunate, wanted to see McDavid and Crosby play together. :/
But I think the tournament this year is more interesting. Don't know what will happen.

And you had others through out, so no one could get away with shit.
I agree.
That bruins team was tough shit, and they and everyone else knew it. You tell me, which of these two plays is going to win the foot race and physical puck battle in a corner:

I know, I'm just being an ass. Haha.

Sedin wins that footrace and the physical battle. Why are you using Marchand as an example of a tough guy when he is one of the pieces of shit that'd get punched in the old days >.>

Sedin wins the footrace in a vacuum, but in that series Marchand won every single puck battle. Thats the mental side to the game I was talking about. The bruins had the canucks hearing footsteps and spooked.
Case in point, a 6'-2" 220 lb guy let a 5'-9" 160 lb guy punch him 4 times in the face.

I feel like im missing somrthing. Sure I get that reducing the shitty hardtosee stuff by having a peoples court can be great. But when teams dont play their a-game because the other team is bigger and scarier, that is just wrong. Or when one team gets away with dirty shit because they are bigger and meaner.

Football would be a lot funnier to watch if every time someone dived, the other team ran up and curb stomped them.

You have sports with just skill (soccer baseball, volleyball, on on) just physical/brutality (boxing, mma, wrestling) and then you have the sport that blends both with hockey. That way there is options for those who play and watch to pick what they are into. (I get that soccer has some phyicality and boxing takes skill, just they are on opposite ends of the spectrum and hockey encourages both.) It's not just skill. There is luck involved in playing around the referee.
To me it sounds like in hockey you just need to find a good balance of talent and proper meatheads. That definitely seems better than the diving in football. Although I don't watch any sports so my opinion might not be the most relevant xd.

The diving in soccer turns me off too. I remember in college playing an intramural scrimmage once and one of the players on the other team (I think he had a much more serious soccer career than I did) commented that one of the defensive moves I made could have gotten me in trouble if it was a real game and he had faked a dive. He was trying to be helpful, but I got pretty defensive and it turned me off from playing any more in college.
Still, what turned me off as a spectator was learning about FIFA. And now with the brain damage in american football and the drug scandals in all sports I don't know what to do with myself... the only way I can bring myself to watch physical sports is to ignore all that and switch on my nostalgia.

Steroid bans have always blown my mind. Everyone at the very least cycles them anyway what's the point of pretending they aren't?
