The first game I owned myself was either a shareware copy of Warcraft 2 (which was my first PC game for sure) or Pokemon, I can't remember which. I can remember playing games far before I got into the various FPS I did, but those were the game where I legit started getting really into gaming in the sense that I genuinely cared about measuring myself against others(like, more than just "winning is more fun"). Some of my most vivid very early childhood memories are of playing Sega Master system and NES games with my brothers, and some 8in floppy disk(as in, the actually floppy disks) games that you had to know serious command line shit to run(which meant I couldn't really run anything without someone older around, genius setup when you think about it that way). Felt the need to clarify since the discussion turned that way, can't have it sounding like Wolf3d or Doom were my first games, I've got old ass man cred to maintain around here...

Or something on NES when I was 4 before I owned one myself when my friends did. Adventures of Lolo maybe? Oh yeah and definitely the 8 inch floppies. On a Commodore 64 with magnetic tape memory of like 64K. Some motorcycle game.

I got AoE 1 Gold Edition for my 7th birthday lol. It was such an awesome game in my memory. I couldn't figure out how to do anything without cheatcodes haha. Then I got Rome: Total War for my 9th or 10th birthday and I've been playing that ever since.

But I am always amused at how every EE department I see is actually about convex optimization and pattern recognition... not so much about "EE". A BSc in EE here has pretty much these topics covered: Signal processing: (Fourier + Laplace transforms, Sampling, Aliasing, Frequency/Impulse responses, Analog to discrete conversion and its problems, Bode, etc) As far as math goes you get your basic Calculus, some linear algebra, differential equations (up to 2nd order), double and triple integrals. Large amount of Electromagnetics. Maxwell, Poisson, Laplace, Gauss, Coulomb, the works. Control systems. Feedback and feedforward, closed loop systems, PID control, digital control. Then there's bits of telecommunications, computation and power systems left. Our university has lots of elective space, so this is only the mandatory subjects for an EE degree. As far as electives go, you're required to take at least one package focusing on one of these three: Smart & Sustainable Society (Power systems, Power electronics, etc), Connected World (more Signal theory, more telecom, photonics), Care & Cure (Introduction to medical imaging, some bioelectricity, etc.). After your BSc you can enter a Master's program in any of these directions too.

Then I discovered Diablo 2 and more or less shifted away from consoles after that.
