Thanks alot for the help guys! :D
I loved all of the Saws, but beyond the first 3 or 4, it becomes just about being as gorey and ridiculous as possible. I still enjoyed them though. Kinda the point tbh

Sure, but the story in the first few was at least entertaining.

wait sufficiency you don't have an r3 cluster just sitting around to crunch your stats?

I probably should get one.

Thanks for all the support guys, I feel renewed energy for CS! I'm gonna talk to professors and harass my smart friend haha. It really does interest me and I'm looking forward to doing cool stuff once I'm done with 'basics' lol.

My first serious forays into PC gaming were first person shooters so the 60/30 thing bothers me so much. Like, even if I'm no longer really playing those types of games, it's like they train you to see the difference. Play Q3A or something with 120 fps then go play something else with sub 60 and it's like OH MY GOD MY EYES I CAN'T AIM I CAN'T PLAY WHY IS THIS ALLOWED TO HAPPEN.

I am not sure if this is the same with all the universities, but I also feel that a good majority of the freshmen are ill prepared for the 'core' computer science courses, adding additional difficulty to an already demanding curriculum.
Beside the compsci stuff, also try to do the best you can on the math courses. I am kind of biased on this, but I feel that a lot of students struggle on compsci theories due to poor "mathematical maturity". Even if you are not a theory kind of person, you will still need to be competent in linear algebra and at least know what derivatives are.

Sounds like an expensive hobby.
I am OK though. I have a machine which is on 24/7 to host my reddit bot / mine data. It has some spare cycles which I use to build some models and do some other stuff.

Booooo linear focus on combinatorics it's like 10x more fun
I'm guessing sufficiency is biased towards linear because of the work he does although actually I haven't used my linear knowledge in ages and I need it now for work and it's ROUGH so he's right :p. Still study combo though

I mean not really, it's not like you're charged for using it because you have an internal account o.o
obviously you wouldn't spin up a bunch of instances in a region that was capacity-constrained or something

I wish I was able to post earlier than page 11, I feel like I owe it to the thread.
In the end though, I'm just happy that school is out. Ugh, I feel like I'm stretching my limbs for the first time in years.
Can't believe I'm now a senior. Just too odd a feeling.

my first foray into gaming was AoE 1 when I was in...kindergarten?
That may have affected me. I think.

AllI know about the saw movies is that they inspired one of the greatest german thrash metal songs of all time (or at least the first one did)
and it lead to a great moment with a guy in a bloody hockey mask on stage with a chainsaw that shot sparks out of it.

That may have affected me. I think. Discounting educational games (e.g. Math Blaster, which was the shit BTW), my first foray into gaming was playing Megaman X/SMB on a friend's SNES.
The first game I owned myself was either a shareware copy of Warcraft 2 (which was my first PC game for sure) or Pokemon, I can't remember which.

I believe my first game was smash 64 and I still play it pretty regularly to this day ^^
my first computer game was Civ 2 because my babysitter was a college student who played it all the time and let me play it with her lol
|
Doom II and Oregon trail is probably the earliest games I played.
