I'm still stuck at the battle including a NPC-Selye in the neutral route of Tactics Ogre, had I known I'd rather have restarted battles thrice rather than get most people to level 22, she may only be 2 levels lower but every single level has such a huge impact in Tactics Ogre that having the enemies scale with my party's in this battle makes her so hard to save. Dammit Yeah, I can pretty vividly imagine that. I did play tactics ogre for awhile and it's possible I might have stopped at that mission for that reason, given my love of random leveling. In FFTA2 it's not so much that the law system destroys me, it's that I accidental break the law and have to restart to get my phat lewt. Oops, I decided to cure my charmed dude by hitting him with a stick and there's a no-blunt-weapons law. The worst battle by far though was one where I couldn't target any adjacent squares. It was not strategically difficult (I had plenty of ranged options) but I restarted at least 10 times because unlike the blunt weapons one you really could screw it and forget yourself in so many different ways, but I really wanted the extra loot because it unlocked more weapons -> more abilities. Also, pretty sure the game is racist against the nu mou people because they were the only race I ever saw laws against using them and that law cropped up 3-4 times. That's the thing about the law system. If I want to play through the campaign with a team of nu mou, a team of warriors, or whatever other crazy idea I got, just let me try, please, I'm only doing it cause its fun. FFT for PS1 certainly had its share of flaws but I'm just surprised that, well, it seems like there isn't a proper successor. edit: I did not read all of last page... that explains why tactics ogre was like FFT, doesn't it. huh.

Then again it was an FF game.

It's the one thing he misses from League.

I think FF8 was monumental in terms of localization, and starting with FF10 they actually had a localization team sit down with the story writers as they were writing the story in order to get better understanding of what they were trying to accomplish. It's actually amazing when you consider how bad many games in the PS era were horribly localized, and even more amazing when some of these series after good localization end up even worse. (Off the top of my head, the Mana series.)

The story's actually very well-written and flows pretty smoothly when you've got the key pieces, however there is a huge amount of backstory and geopolitical information that can make it hard to get into. It's a bit like LoL : you can understand the process behind pushing and stuff pretty easily once you've got the basis covered, but when you first start you're all "what does my dude do? What's last-hitting? Why do all the little minions attack me?" etc. The translation's good enough for all I can say as a non-native English speaker, the thing that may put people off are names like the Nanten and the Hokuten that don't stick as easily when you have to recognize the different factions. FFT has a more crowded backstory than Tactics Ogre, however the "current political situation" is more entangled in Tactics Ogre, what with the foreign intervention within a country populated by 3 ethnic groups in uneven proportions. I think the writer said he wanted it to resonate a bit like what happened in the Balkans a few years earlier (the Bosnian War).

The amout of synergy was huge too, and she also came with 2 hard-cc and enough mobility to outrun people while bootless. She's got a bit of everything (except sustain and range, and even then her reach and mobility and "long-term" mobility too are still big) and she went bonkers in most of these domains. A creeper.

I love doing alllll the conversations in games but with electricity issues I took a minimalistic approach. I'm looking forward to buying the newest handheld and FE when I get back. The GBA ones have a slight UI issue but then again they are like really old and translations of even older Japanese games. Support conversations are also amazing and full of hidden lore. I can never bring myself to damage my beautiful Steel or Silver weapons, and using a Killing Edge or a unique weapon is beyond luxury. Only bargain brand for my troops! Using only Iron Weapons increases the difficulty if you need even more of a challenge. But in things like Hector Hard mode if you want to S-Rank it you pretty much have to. Also I horde stuff and I hate seeing things like Legendary Weapons lose durability. So yeah sometimes. In FE:Awakening though Armsthrift means I stop caring haha. Also I just dislike Tactics games. FE, FF:T, SMT:Devil Survivor, couldn't stand em, just bore me to tears. I mean, the stories are fine and what not, I just can't stand the combat. Only exception is Advance Wars for some reason.
