the one awkward thing was I had no specific button for D-smash so I had to do it the bad old way

in related news, the smash attack timing is so ingrained in me that I need to map the c-stick to tilts.

Even if you can smash perfectly, aren't normal smashes going to charge for a few frames while C-stick smashes never charge? Isn't that the whole point of using the C-stick?

C-stick smashes will always be the least charged version of the smash, which is better for speed but bad for certain combos.

There are no combos in Brawl, Requi apart from chain grabs and grab release combos (grab release combos are fking terrible)

You are just always 1 button short on WII controller, it's annoying There are no combos in Brawl, Requi I just used A for attacks and Dpad for all smashes. It's not too far to move your thumb.
