Correct, which while not exactly the best it makes for some REALLY stupid magic. Especially when combined with Sensei's Divining Top.
MOST miracle spells are X spells so you can dump some pretty obscene amounts of mana into them when they are miracle'd. When the casting cost of a spell gets effectively halfed it has some pretty damn explosive plays.

Right, instead of the normal casting cost of XX+R which is a tad prohibitive, you'd need 21 lands or some other mana source to deal the necessary 10 damage. Since he drew it as his first card it's instead X and a red mana so now you only need a total of 11 mana to deal 10 damage which is much more realistic.

oh man sensei's divining top that card brings back memories

X is a variable amount then? So the XR cost for X damage means it does as much damage as the amount of (typed?) mana that you put in?
A whole system I don't understand o.O

X is just like algebra, but you get to pick the value of X and then supply that much mana into it.
So if I have 11 lands in play, and miracle this bonfire I just drew, I can "tapout" and hit you for 10 because 1 red mana to cover the r and then the other 10 lands make up the X.
Or 9, or 8. It just a matter of choice at that point.
In the NON miracled Bonfire, the X values must match. So if you choose x = 5, you would need r, 5, 5. to cast it and deal 5 damage.

Imagine Flamestrike read: "If this is the first card you draw this turn, dump as much mana as you want into this card. Take the total mana you spent, minus 1, and then do that much damage to everything your opponent controls and to his face as well."

Calling that mechanic "Miracle" is pretty troll-ish, though.

I don't really get to play often, and without putting too much time into it Judging PTQ's and going to some GP weekends isn't the worst. Plus I REALLY want that judge pack this year That pack alone is going to retail for 300 at vendors lol.

I will not start another expensive hobby I will not start another expensive hobby Just for the record, Magic has the potential to make Warhammer 40k tabletop look cheap by comparison. Just a fair warning.

But you only need one deck to play...

this would be the same as flamestrike is now pretty much its just you need the extra card for face damage as well

That feel when you really want to buy more models but you already have a bunch to put together/paint and also the store is closed.

I know that you can easily play Magic on a budget, but it's so easy to spend tons on Magic. I mean I look at some of my friends, and if I look at how much they spent on Magic and then spent that same amount on Warhammer, I could easily field 2 painted armies and get plenty of accessories.
Of course that being said, I think Magic is much cheaper to get into.
