Wavedashing is a glitch(deal with it, it is) that gets abused to move around faster how well you can wavedash is completely up to your own mechanics. Tripping is an unavoidable chance to fall on your ass whenever you try to run somewhere. You have no control over it outside of walking everywhere. Tripping, you fall down and are prone. Can't move and have to mash out like a grab. Wave dashing is strictly better because you are moving fast than a dash and are basically bouncing off the ground to cover more ground and still have attack capabilities. | ||

Simply put, wavedashing is jumping, and then immediately air dodging at an angle into the ground, which causes you to slide. How far you slide depends on how horizontal your air dodge was. Wavedashing is wonderful because you can smash/tilt/grab/etc. out of it. Tripping is just sudden and random stoppage of control, and you fall down. Literally nothing you can do about it and no way to prevent it. | ||
