I don't spend any time there so it probably is just another example of many that is getting to you. I mean, it's one thing for random ass TL'ers to do it, and it's another to have community news article (that's on linked on front page) with that kind of condescension.

The pyro pretty much needs to be jesus to properly airblast stickies out of midair to not just die. Even if the pyro's just bum rushing you, a good trick is to jump backwards and lay a stick slightly in front of you, then detonate as you're in midair. It creates good distance and does enough damage to the pyro for you to finish off with 1-2 more stickies. Scout vs pyro is a lot like teemo/vlad vs riven I guess, it's all about knowing your range and taking potshots without being in the pyro's flamethrower radius. Although to be fair to you, FoN is really bad at taking pot shots, you're looking for the point blank meatshots, in which case good luck against a pyro.

I'm still fairly new to demo, but I'm figuring it out fairly quickly. Demo v Pyro generally isn't a problem unless I'm inside in tight quarters. Scout v Pyro just sucks cuz I use Force-A-Nature, so I only get 2 shots per clip and I'm most effective in someone's face. They just bug me. Most of the time if I get lit up, I'll just pop Atomic Punch so I don't burn to death and can get out to safety.

Some of the pro 'strats' and loadouts are based around 6v6 play and their map pools(like, the fact that they play 5 point CPs and gravelpit). Destroying a pub can be done so many different ways if you have good movement and aim well, you don't need to copy the competitive strats, although reading their reasoning will certainly better your understanding of the game in general.
