Group A looks like the group of death

this came out of nowhere! Group A is group of Death indeed!

Excited for this and that's a very nice prize pool. Kind of top heavy but that is extra motivation for the top players. Curious what Maru can bring against Serral with 4 days to prep and nothing else going on right now.

because oliveira realise hes not in a best shape atm , after world champion his shape struggle alot , down 10-15 positions maybe , so thats why he wants to rest maybe

What happens if Maru wins both his matches tomorrow, ShoWTimE only loses to Serral+Maru, while MaxPax only loses to ShoWTimE and Serral?
Two spots and ShoWTimE/Maru/MaxPax tied at 3w-2l in matches. I don't find the tie-breaker info on liquipedia? I guess it will go down to map differential, but if somehow they are also tied there, since MaxPax > Maru, Maru > ShoWTimE and ShoWTimE > MaxPax, we might have a three-way tie right?

Yeah, most likely overall mapscore then head-to-head mapscore among the 3 players.

Even though Maru lost against Serral, he's still a better player. Anyone know what am anomaly is? Cope harder.

Maru's been pretty disappointing lately. Can't believe he's now lost to Maxpax 4 times in a row especially considering the overall state of TvP being T favored. At least he beat Gumiho.

I mean until he loses to MaxPax offline ( ) it’s not super worrying. Him not able to beat Serral is worse imo, albeit every terran are losing to the top zerg nowadays

I think losing to Maxpax is worse just because TvP is pretty Terran favored. ZvT I think is Zerg favored at the top level so I can forgive him more though it's still disappointing. if he can't beat Maxpax on this patch then I don't see how he'll ever beat him on a balanced one.

Just watched most of Maru vs Serral game 1 and I don't understand what happened in the game deciding engagement. Why did Maru move his ghosts so close to the Broodlords? They looked like they were way closer than snipe range. Was that a mistake or intentional? Almost all of the ghosts got hit by a single fungal. If I didn't already know he lost I would have thought he was winning up until that engagement. That looked like a massive throw.

MaxPax style works very well against Maru TvP, who always try to finish the game with a timing push. In both games he lost to MaxPax, he does that and got behind on a weaker economy due Zealot runby. Hes also making mistake in both games, game 2 he did a weirdly 2-3 Medivac drop into the main, leaving the tanks completely exposed. Game 3 he just taking too many balls into the face. Even in the game 1 that he won, his defense against the Blink Stalker was pretty bad, losing tanks left and right, just feel like his micro aint good at the moment.
Against Serral, the fight he took was bad because of the base location, Maru sent all of his Ghost into a corner and they got stuck. He also took the fight while being down 40 army supply while still having the bank to max out, and never use Nuke to zone out the BLord army. Despite all that it was a very close game, but I am more disappointed about game 2 lost, Maru literally saw the Roach when trying to cancel the 3rd base, but made no Banshee, still does the Widow Mines drop and delay tanks production, also no Bunker in the natural, like what you think gonna happen against that?
Overall, I expect another Ro8/12 exit from Maru with this type of performance IF he make it past the Group Stage.

Watching showtime getting in these solid positions to then just absolutely throw the game is so sad everytime

Maru knew he cant do the same 2 base timing push against Protoss, and he switch up to macro and Lib timing, Showtime was expecting Maru to do a Tank Bio push to crush it, he never had the answer to Libs switch.

Feels like Maru tried to get an easy win g1, got countered, then got an easy win g2 due to ShoWTimE trying his luck with an easy win himself being up 1-0, then Maru dismantling him in regular macro game. Still scary, but now Maru is through unless GuMiho beats Serral but loses to MaxPax (depending on score) afaik?

Serral made some big mistakes in the early game, but doesn't seem like it's gonna matter :/

If map score is the first tie-breaker than Maru is in no matter what, MaxPax and Gumiho cant BOTH get higher map score than Maru.

Game: Serral 27-15 Maru
Since 2022:
Series: Serral 5-0 Maru
Game: Serral 14-3 Maru
Data came from Liquipedia plus a WTL matchup last week that Liquipedia doesn't seem to include.

Well, Serral was crushing Maru before 2021 as well, but Maru just suddenly won 2 big series against him, but then things are back to the way they were again with Serral winning the head-to-head handily.

To be fair, only Maru was the one who consistently made it work, and other players try their best copying it. But even Maru these days arent doing it anymore, especially the BC opening into Mech Ghost. Not sure if its a map thing or Zerg figure out how to deal with it, but I dont think it was solely because of the Ghost.

1st will place 2nd from other groups, loser will play the 3rd place. So its not certain that Solar will ever play Serral, but also mean it could be Dark or Ragnarok will play Serral, because they are both 2nd place in their groups.

Creator is just not on the same level as Maxpax/Hero/Classic, it's pretty sad because he looked like he was getting back into top form not too long ago
He has inexplicable "switch off" moments that you do not see from other players
(even in the context of winning that series)

Strange to be living in an era where PvZ looks much more doable than PvT.
If a Toss makes it to a grand finals against Zerg I will still be very scared for them though.

Great bracket for Serral, with Dark's recent ZvT woes he has a good chance of dodging Zerg until the grand finals (though online Clem is not an easy opponent for him.)
While it's good that a Protoss will advance, they'll probably just be fed into Cure's unbeatable PvT
