So when will Solar avoid the curse of getting Maru in the bracket stage?

I think this tourney and the upcoming GSL will be a huge factor for a person like Stats and even sOs if they should make a serious effort to go for trophies. I unfortunately think they will feel a bit deflated after these tourneys. I hope not ofc. Terrans has reached a level when they only whine a lot once in a while, not constantly, and this is a bad sign for the scene....

Serral will become the hero of the scence against, unless his fellow Zerg backstab him first.

Good day of starcraft, tomorrow gonna be even better

Damn Creator's hold/micro vs Maru's push in G1 was beautiful That whole G1 was beautiful, just too bad Creator wasn't prepared for the cloak banshees... and too bad he lost like 20 probes to 1 WM... if he didn't lose those probes he would have won RIP

How did Solar 3-0 Maru, wow?

Maru gambled a lot, 3 starport rush in second game

So can anyone explain how Classic, Bunny, Cure and DRG got seeded into the second round and neither Maru nor herO did? Not that the EPT seeds make any more sense.

Serral looking strong against Special

Stage two is like an extra losers' bracket, it's not better than stage one.
|
That looked easy Think special will qualify tomorrow though

But their tournament I guess.

The second round is essentially a lower-lower bracket. If you go through in 1st round you are already qualified and the losers of round 1 drop down and get another chance in 2nd round. So yeah, the players in lower seeds are in round 2 to start with.

Being able to pause or rewind the stream whenever you want is great, I don't get why the youtube stream has only like 100 viewers compared to ~4.5k of the twitch stream.

Guys guys remember that time, when your favorite streamer invited a Journalist into their home, and ended up torturing and dismembering them and didnt really care that anyone knew? Khashoggi family remembers....

Time getting crushed several times post-IEM makes his IEM run even more memorable. It truly was just a moment where a "good" player became, for that one day, the best player in the world. It wasn't like he was on that level for a while and we just hadn't recognized it yet.
We might have only 2, 1, or 0(!) protosses in the main event D:

That wasnt much to a series, Reynor dominated

We might have only 2, 1, or 0(!) protosses in the main event D: Time's been playing pretty well, I feel like losing 0-3 to Gabe is his only "unforgiveable" loss. If he straight up doesn't qualify for GAMERS8, or he doesn't win Asia regionals, then we can start asking bigger questions.
I expect Time to settle down at the level of players like Solar/Byun/Ragnarok, who probably won't win tournaments but are always threats, but with us always asking "will he randomly pop off again?"

Oliveria's strength is always very hard to judge

It was one of those rare moments aptly described by the phrase that the stars aligned for Oliveira on that particular day.

The top 10-ish players are very closely matched in terms of skill right now. Even when I see a 3-0 in a single BO5, I feel like it coulda gone the other way on a different day.

Man, i really want Creator to win, and he was playing really well vs Maru and Dark (99% of the time), but dang he's gonna have to go up against herO probably. If he gets knocked out, it's cus he had to fight Maru, Dark, herO to qualify. How unfortunate.

I hope that the host will have Oliveira's match played first in the world brackets as long as there is a match of his. The matches will be on at the golden time of Europe since KST 12:00 pm means CET 4:00 pm. But Oliveira typically plays his match at the same time as the Korean players. Therefore, his match can even extend to 2:00 am in the morning, which seems unfriendly to him.
Likewise, if Astrea is to play, it is better to push back his game since he lives in California. 12:00 pm KST means 9:00 am Pacific time, and he may have just got up and finished his breakfast. The time also seems unfriendly to him if he is the first to play in the world bracket.
As a Chinese fan, I really want to see Oliveira playing the game with a more friendly schedule. I think the host can always set up an appropriate schedule so that all players can play their games in their 'golden hours', typically in the afternoons and evenings. If a player has to wake up really early or stay up really late, this will seriously impact their performance in the games.

The KR bracket is a gauntlet outside of maybe herO. The World bracket is pretty favorable to Clem/Oliveira/Showtime/Astrea.
|
I love these brackets. They seem very fair. Cheering for clem, special, showtime and classic, hero, gumiho!

maru,Biggabe, reynor: last year was really difficult for me... but look at me now!

How come the stream isnt featured?

Classic playing like a king against Ragnarok, that G1 was unbelievable. True manly Stalkers
|
Hero's majestic manly hidden base...we salute you

That was some crazy good play by Cure.

herO took so many bad fight in that last game, wish he could just slowed down and set up a better position in those fight.

Clem looking great, literally outmicroed Oliveira to a victory there

Having a great time watching the Arabic stream, do any of you know how I can get in contact with the Jordanian commentator?
By the way, Arabic stream has same production value as the English one, minus the interviews. Very fun. Surprisingly large viewer count as well

That last hero game, guess he didn't think of it in the moment or just wasn't precise enough, but i think he may have been able to barely hold that last push if his warp prism was hovering over his nexus and powering the battery + 2 canons, he had like 10 zealots and 2 archons and a superbattery, and he was up 10 probes or so, maybe he could have stabilized if he could buy time for a 2nd warpin, and use a little WP micro to pullback an archon before it dies... oh well
|
Well herO was kinda angry about yesterday i guess.
|
Creator with the reverse sweep pretty awesome, especially after completely collapsing game 2

Man what a shitty month it has been for Ragnarok.
|
woah congrats Spirit and Elazer!!
|
Crazy that Spirit gets in by beating Lambo and Special and Elazer also gets in by beating Lambo and Special. While players like Ragnarok, DRG and Bunny miss the event losing to creator and herO. Even after nonstop military forced retirement KR still has much more depth than the rest of the world combined. This is why I never liked the Blizzcon 8/8 format much as a world championship. Missing 3 players of that quality is too big of an omission.
|
At the moment, top 4 from each region (KR vs World) are pretty close to each other, from 5 to 8 I would start to give KR the edge, and then 9 to 16 should be KR favored still. Now, for the main tournament, I hope they dont do the regular 4 x 4 groups, make it wild with 2 groups of 8 and play the Swiss format into a double-elimination bracket for something.

Considering how the EPT changes removed round robins and GSL groups, I guess Swiss and 8-man double elim would be the most likely formats for G8...
