Does it ever works, past the big midgame tank push zealots obliterate any kind of tank play hard no matter how well possitioned.

TY did destroy herO with it, but the map was pretty much perfect (winter's gate) and he had a decent lead after early mid game tank shenanigans
It is still bizarre to me how "period of time" is proper English.

The mass tank bio style is basically only played by Special and TY (and uThermal in Europe) but it can be kind of good.
This was really different though, his build was extremely funky and seemingly intended to force a weird response from Stats but it feels like Stats wasn't tricked much cos he still went Colossi, and also anti-mech unit comps in general against Terran aren't that bad against bio either. It's very different to the mind games people use in TvZ sometimes where you can actually force them into a bad comp if you fool them correctly.

Solid PvP i'd rate it a 6/10 on the PvP dumbness scale, the proxy did nothing directly but put stats ahead anyways and then the last fight was kinda nonsense but stats just kinda won it
I keep waiting for some caster to finally realize how good Stats' micro is. Such an underrated aspect of his game. Blink micro there was as good as it gets.

It's just not flashy and they kinda did when they said he is one of the best (or even the best) at controlling bigger armies.
It's small unit numbers too, though. His control has probably been top 2 for most of LotV for Protoss, depending on whether Zest is in good shape or not

For sure, every time Stats gets a prism early game it's worth watching closely. Dude is a monster with it.

Even after his military service he is struggeling so much with his wrists he has to visit the hospital frequently? That sounds horrible. Thought his problems got better now. Quite confused why he decided to come back, when sc2 is clearly not doing anything good to his health.

it should be normal as usual tho none of them showed up with mask on so i assume they are fine but on the other hand ,dark, trap, mary and solar... one of them could be the THING
Incidentally I think Dark might be the Zerg that is least impacted by the proposed balance patch, since he actually plays aggressively. The patch is most impactful to those defend until Hive type Zergs.
Might work out pretty well for soO too, he likes to be hyper aggro at Lair tech too. But yea Dark is definitely gonna be a strong player no matter what group he ends up with.

Well Inno doesn't have a pick, group D gets the last player left on stage.
Right, didnt think about that.
Neither did I, if Cure or Stats goes to Group D I'm gonna rage. Maru is always in groups of death, even more often than Dark is.
Yeah remembwr his group of death with Patience Ragnarok and Bunny or whatever it was?
I think it was Impact. But yeah Maru on average doesn't get very hard groups. Doesn't TY have the hardest on average?
You guys have a short memory. Maru hasn't had hard groups in his 4 straight GSL wins just because of the pick swap. But before that? He's had some really tough ones.
I dunno about TY, I haven't paid that much attention to how strong his groups have been.
Either way. Group D is fucked in this GSL.
Yeah no I literally ran through all GSL results of LotV a year or so ago and TY's groups always had the players who would go the furthest. I can send you a picture or the excel sheet later
Not arguing, I literally never pay attention to who TY is paired against. I don't follow him closely. You're most likely right.

Another fun excercise for later: starleague winners vs group of deaths they have been in. Has TY been cosmically screwed? Is Maru just lucky?

Just two things: Special's TvZ is relatively bad, he definitely would not thrive in non korean tournaments, the "not harder" path would be hard indeed.
Also, Dark had a nice streak against foreigners but in the latest years he looked comparatively stronger against koreans.

It's also a question of whether "group of death" means a group that's really tough for YOU, or if it's enough that the other 3 players would rather pick any other group. Any group with Maru in it is going to be seen as pretty tough, but maybe not for Maru himself

This split between good players who act helpless and talk up just how bad they are vs. worse players that compulsively get themselves into difficult groups because they must say they're not afraid of anyone, has really always been the funniest part of group selections

yeah no shit like the swapping rule guarantee an easy group if you want it. The captain has 1st pick - takes lesser player, then he has another call to bring another lesser player 100% of the time
I'd love to see Taeja make some upsets on his return and make it into RO8. Either way, there are going to be some really great match-ups, looking forward to a lot of these games.

Holy Shit how the times have changed, back then one GSL group has hundreds of pages of posts, now the whole GSL tournament can't even get that number.
That number is an anamoly. It just goes to show just how crazy hyped that group was back then. Very few groups inspire THAT amount of response even back then.
Ideally swapping Dear with Stats could be worse for Cure, but currently Stats' PvT could be weaker than Dear's; in any of case, I'm not sure Dark made Cure a favor, despite them both being in DPG
Edit: Sc2 was once the biggest eSport in the world and I am sure Wax loves the fact LR threads can get a little spicy

Yeah that was the wildest group selection of all time. I reckon we won't get the GSL finals to 330 pages, let alone a group selection.
