Most of the teams just straight up breaking the rules, not using team colors to represent their countries' flags

Bolivia-Singapore as the highlight for me today.
Maybe Egg can do some magic vs the UK, every other series seems like a huge miss match.
Edit: Actually Russia team is missing some big player what the hell, maybe Irland has a chance then hahaha

In all seriousness they may want to change that one just to be sure. I mean I don't think the police is gonna come knocking at their door or anything, but now's probably not the best time for Hong Kong players and fans to go talk online about their country beating China. It would be kind of silly to get on a watch list because of Starcraft.
(Not saying they shouldn't protest, but they shouldn't be put in a situation where it look like they are doing so while they are actually just playing a video game)

I think for elimination A and H are the most interesting, the other all have a team that's way bellow the other.
Then for first I like them all except A and B (altought Nice-Has-Butalways going 2-3 against Serral might not be totally impossible)

Group H looks like the closest for 2nd place with Russia as 3rd seed. Even thoug they didn t get their strongest lineup

Such a sloppy game from Inno but he's playing to the map very well and the pace is just too high for Seither.
|
Calling soO the MVP of NationWars V over 2 wins against Serral is probably a bit ambitious what with Inno beating Reynor twice and all-killing the Netherlands in the finals. And with the fact that soO's goal was to win the 1st place money playing 0 games. But he should be a more valuable contributor than online Stats at least.
|
This commentary is gold. Probe has been dead for 10 minutes, only when you play SHs, it's just hard to to actually kill an opponent who is too stubborn to leave the game. Also there is no problem in soO having low economy, when the only units he ever fought with come for free.
|
Korea better be scared of Ptak's comeback to NW.
|
I doubt they read this thread but Ptak beat Zest and Byun and was stopped by Inno.
|
Unbeknowst to him, Funka pronounces Ptak correctly

Korea winning the group, first major upset of the tournament.

Ptak survived surprisingly long given that he treated his ravagers like a lightning rod.

I really wish every series didn't start out with Acropolis-Disco Bloodbath-World of Sleepers, and instead they made the starting three maps different. Proleague systems tend to mean that we see the same match-ups on the same maps all the time, but with this mixed format (and teams of three) it would be easy to minimize that just by changing the starting three.

Painful to watch ButAlways slowly lose the game from his pretty great spot

I really don't understand what the Protoss gameplan was this game.

That's one way to engage BL/infestor. Lose everything immediately to avoid having to agonize a few more minutes before inevitably dying.

Honestly the cannon rush defense was bad. Serral should have lost more and even with what he lost he was really behind. ButAlways' follow-up was trash.

Nice to see that with the new format, 1 player can't win the entire match alone anymore.
|
In the spirit of nation wars, and since almost all countries have got 4 players, wouldn't it be less "one man carry" to have 4 BO1s, proleague format?
And then an ace-match if the score is 2-2, something like that.

8 out of 40 had only three players, most of them didn't qualify of course. There's probably no 100% good option here...
|
Or just follow China Team Championship's 3 BO3s, thats the other solution I can think of
|
The format's working as intended. The other players get to at least play some games, even if they are still getting carried. Star players like Serral or Special draw viewers, so O'Gaming doesn't want them to drop out just because their team otherwise isn't very good.

Germany is one of the teams with the best depth for sure. If you removed their best player they'd still be a contender for top 4.

Germany seems lacking in team spirit though. We have HeRoMaRinE with random capitalization, ShoWTimE with symmetrical caps and Lambo being a normal person. And the reserve is all caps TLO.

TheLittleOne would come kind of close, at least. Let's rename Lambo to LaMbOkInG.

Dastan had a lead for some time, too bad he didn’t try something with the disruptors before Harstem had a counter. I hope Netherlands - Germany is gonna be somewhat close. Lambo is probably the weak link, HM has dropped games to uThermal before so we might have the close series I’m hoping for.
Even though Netherlands are the finalists from last NW I don’t see them as favorites here.

uThermal trading so well he's about to be arrested for fraud

It's uplifting to see a player at Ret's age still playing at this level. Maybe that means there is still hope for the rest of us.

Harstem the foolish fool decided to foolishly expand in PvP like a fool.

Felt like Harstem could have taken that with a bit better targeting. But really good control from Showtime, almost felt like he had blink.

Looks like we might manage to make it through the Ro24 without a single group ending up in a three-way round robin tie. What were the tiebreaks going to be? Maps would be the first tiebreaker, but after that?

Russia sending Sweden out of the tournament would be quite the upset. Nice to see them try to control the games through aggression.

Skillous playing some really high level PvZs there. If you covered the names and you told me it is an EU Toss playing I would have said that must be Neeb or Showtime. He is still pretty young too, excited to see him in WCS next year!

Neeb the EU toss. The point is well taken though.

Lol that was great from Skillous. 18 gate, 2-2 timing attack
Pretty sick that this 18-year old goes 4-1 against a team of Swedish zergs who have all been to Code S

No group of death from the look of things. The stronger teams were pretty evenly spread out.

Group A seems weaker to me, the others are pretty tough.

Strongest group is B I guess.
Predicitions: A: Italy, Russia (if Skillous can keep this up :D ) B: Korea, USA C: Serral, France D: Germany, China ( Really depends if Time delivers or SpeCial is on fire)

Well, if you wrote Serral(appropriately), then Reynor advances in group A! Netherlands in group B and, especially, Poland in group arr serious contenders for a playoff spot
|
Well, both of Reynors teammates won a game each. And having Serral is pretty much an autowin, having Reynor not (to that extent)
I think France is a smidge above Poland and USA above Netherlands, but it will be really close

About half the team are either one man show (Finland, Brazil, Italy, Canada) or team where the ace is the only reason they have a shot (USA, Mexico).
Still, hype for the show to start

What a nice Storyline around Skillous so far. Unfortunatly from now on, it realy hurts them, that they are probably the Nation, wich is further away from their dream Team. Medeod and Bratok both didn t win a Single map so far. Vanya, Strange or even Rail would be so much better for them right now.

So MEDOED beat ABomB in the match against Ireland using hacks? This and the whole mess around him surrounding his participation instead of Vanya/Strange is getting worse and worse.

Surely some more proof would be needed. Broken Runglish looks quite authentic though.

Dunno, I'm not one for conspiracy theory but there's something about the specific of the question and the almost consumer services responses from the other guys that seems fake to me (+ with all the other shit going around about him, it seems like a strange timming)
With that said if he did hack to beat ABomb that hilarious.
|
What the actual fuck?
If this is true than basically every game this dude played since August was hacked. The "I have hacks but I don't use them" excuse is like the dumbest thing anyone has ever said
EDIT: I guess the organizers have the replays? Interested to see the replays of the games vs Elazer and Namshar

This looks fake. Would someone really be so stupid? Using your regular discord account, being so explicit about what to use it for?

With things like this is so hard for me to decide which of the following is going on: 1. Fake 2. Stupidity 3. The "I did it in broad daylight therefore it's not wrong" defense.

Surely nobody would be this stupid, but again, the Internet is full of surprises.

Medoed is not using any hacks, lol. The above screenshot mentions Medoved, who is some noname person, unrelated to Medoed himself. Medoed plays fair(as far, as I know, ofc). His skill just sucks, nothing more.

Bratok pulled out of Nation Wars in favour of Vanya: https://twitter.com/NationWarsSC2/status/1192073007558205441?s=20 It nice to see, that he has the integrity to see, that they just got better chances with Vanya than with him. Just sad, that he has to pull out, instead of Medeod, who just is there for the money apparently.. I hope the russian SC2 scene isn t forgetting the sacrifice Bratok is making for them. Hugh respect for that decision.
