Serral is either gonna rekt all or get rekt himself. No middleground

Trouble is they are playing/filming the Ro32 in a small side studio without room for an audience. Meanwhile, WoW/Heroes get to use the main stage of the Blizzard Arena.

One thing to commend the organizers for is the seeding. I honesty wouldn't know how to seed 4-man groups. Obviously putting two good players and two bad ones would work considering two get through, but I would say this is even better (they put the best/worst and two in the middle in the extremal groups) because it makes sure the top players don't get any other top opponents. But the specific algorithm, with two independent rankings, is still quite clever.

The seeding also increases foreigner chances, but I am not afraid!

What? How on Earth does it increase foreigners chances? This format guarantees that Koreans dont get another korean for the first round. Also, equal 2 korean 2 foreigner groups, no chances of koreans being forced to eliminate each other. This is literally the only format that allows theoretically for 8 koreans to advance

C'mon, it would always be 2-2 groups, nothing else makes even a remote sense. Then it's groups, so it's not that important who plays whom first.

I though agree that it's quite debatable what is best for the cause of "at least some foreigner advancing". In theory, it is enough to beat just one korean, so in some sense, Zest is "wasted" on Serral, because he already has sOs for that - and they could have gone with seeding like "Maru Serral sOs Lambo", so that the two highest seeds get the two lowest and both advance, but this would all work just on paper, because the ranking is simply not some transcendent order of the skills. That considering, I think having both Zest and sOs gives Serral more chances.

It could, mind you, have been also seeded as "Maru Classic Nerchio Lambo" / "Serral Showtime Dark sOs", but I think the current seeding gives more chance to have both Serral and Showtime advancing than this alternative for example.

I'm so pumped for this. Its really cool that the giant SC2 balance overhaul was announced just BEFORE Morhaime stepped down. Things that make you go "hmmmm". I hope this gives us 1 more amazing year of a great RTS game.

the more the entire RTS genre goes into the tank the more i cheer for SC2 as the venerable improbable underdog.

It is very important who u play first. It s not round robin, it s Gsl format, afaik.

I dont think the pairing favours foreigners very much. I would say there are 2 pairings where the foreigners got a bit lucky in theory, but not sure it s gonna matter.

Classic got a foreign zerg, which sounds good, then again it s Nerchio, who is probably the weakest foreigner to qualify, so Clsssic shouldbe fine.

The other one is Showtime getting a PvZ, his strongest mu. But then again Dark s strongest mu is zvp as well, and he does well against foreigners in general.

Serral ofc is expected to make it out, but i wouldnt call lucky drawing the cheesiest Korean toss who s coming off of a good run.

What.
Zest, sOs, PartinG, Dark, and Maru are the real champs. ROOT_herO is overrated. Snute, Serral, and Scarlett are the foreigner GOATs

Well that s my bad, I relied on memory, didn't check stats. Indeed it s not his best stat wise. What I wrote still stands, those 2 are the luckier foreign draws and I'm not sure it s gonna work out for them even so

Poor Lambo and Heromarine, I don't see them winning even one series. Out of all the foreigners I feel like Serral and Special do have the best chances to advance.

Group A: Maru, TY
Group B: Serral, sOs
Group C: Stats, Dark (maybe Showtime although his chances are slim)
Group D: Rogue, Classic (or Special).

... actually the more I think about it, Special has a decent chance making it out of his group.
