It would feel nice if that actually were the case aswell. The way it is now the koreans are locked out of foreigner events and at international events they put up the facade of "we are one big Starcraft family".

I haven't followed sc2 scene in couple of years now. Cna someone tell me why terrans don't go BCs in late game? They got nerfed?

I don't think they have been nerf as much as they always sucked, they only really work in slow and defensive composition snipping thing with the yamato, as far as I can remember they were only ever used in LOTV to kind of deal with carrier and in HOTS with mass raven/air terran.
BC by themselves are a huge investment and a big risk you need a peculiar composition to make them work

What I don't get is that this is the GSL vs The World right? Then why was the 1st series of the event the GSL vs the GSL?
Wouldn't it have made more sense to pit GSL players vs the World players, like the name implies? I know Maru & Serral both picked their teams & that's the format they went with. Perhaps they should've only been allowed to pick players from their circuit, so it'd be a true GSL vs The World event. And I know eventually it'll get there, & that there are matches like that from the get go. But i don't see why Maru & Soo had to face each other in the 1st round. Seems like they should've faced off vs a foreigner 1st. Just my 2cents

After they seeded the bracket, they had a random draw, which is why it isn't full GSL vs The World. If Serral/Maru had only been allowed to pick people from their own region, they wouldn't have picked anyone because they needed 7 players each, and there were only 7 players from each region.

Makes perfect sense they changed the format. They don't want a situation like last year where koreans won every game and the match was decided way before all games were played.
Now they can keep the illusion of "excitement"
But let's be honest - everyone will treat it like KR vs foreigners anyway, regardless if the score shows 4 -4 or 8-0.

If they didn't want it to be similar to last year then why call it GSL vs the World? This should just be a random show tournament at this point. Random tournament bracket and now the new team format. Call it Maru vs Serral, call it excitement, call it an interesting format but all this is just an attempt to avoid the stomp that we saw last year. Are 8-0 stomps enjoyable? Of course not, but at least last year was actually what it said on the tin.

Looking at these games its a little unbelievable that Zest made it to the finals of GSL last season.

What an underwhelming first day of GSL vs World. The first series Maru vs soO was good (well no surprises). The rest was just awful. How Zest made to GSL final last season is beyond me. The whole series can be captured with the pose of Zest staring into the screen while holding the water bottle in his mouth. Special vs Has and Stats vs Cyan were eye-rolling-ly horrible. So far, voted players suck big time (soO did fine though). That's why I hate when they try to blend some ridiculous popularity contest into a competitive video game tournament like this.

Ok, thanks. I'm digging the way sc2 is played now, looks much better than ending of WoL, but the only thing I just dont get are Shield batteries. I really dont get why those are in the game.
But oh well, game seems lot of fun right now, both to watch and play.

The team format is still all koreans vs foreigners. There won't be any foreigner vs foreigners, or korean vs korean. If you want to complete the fantasy in your head of Koreans winning everything, you can still do it.
They just made the match more interesting by having mixed teams. Now they can have a real Proleague match, where they can decide to send strong or weaker players tactically depending on certain maps.
