The XII Season of the Intel Extreme Masters had its first stop with StarCraft II announced, in just a few weeks we will be going back to Shanghai, to play for 7,500 WCS Points and USD 25,000.00. But, before that, we will have to find out the 12 players to join the 4 already invited.
Neeb and other non-Koreans might make it to stage 2 since the Korean scene has been thinned out a lot (16 spots are open and there are not significantly more than 16 top players) and 4 of the top players are already qualified for the main tournament. But I don't like their odds for stage 2 very much..

If we assume that the brackets work as intended (not a safe assumption in practice but for argument's sake) the best 10 players in Korea (excluding 4 seeds) will make it through. The question then, is whether Neeb is one of them, and I'm inclined to say no.
Off the top of my head, I would put at least these 14 (in no particular order) above Neeb: Classic herO Stats (invited) TY (invited) INnoVation (invited) ByuN Maru aLive Gumiho soO (invited) Dark ByuL Solar Rogue
14 instead of 16 because Neeb is not eligible for either of the 2 Chinese spots afaik.
OK, so according to sOs and Maru's stream schedule, they will stream on 26th, 27th, 28th and 30th at 4 pm Chinese time which is exactly same as IEM global qualifiers. We will see which one they pick. Or maybe they know top 16 WCS players will be invited, so they won't stream on 29th to play closed qualifier.
Very excited for these. Honestly some of the best days of StarCraft I ever had were IEM Korean qualifiers. So stacked, so many good games. Usually far stronger than the main event.
With Neeb, Scarlett, and Major all not participating, I think it's possible that some of them were given an invite into the second stage of qualifying.
16 invites to 2nd stage & 4 already in the main event (plus 2 talented Chinese players through China qualifiers) substantially weakens the open qualifiers.

Elazer is 7th, but he still participated. Even if some foreigners do get straight tickets to the closed qualifiers I guess its not 8 foreigners and 8 Koreans.
Scarlett didn't participate either, I don't think she has a straight ticket to the closed qualifiers, so not participating there can be for many reasons.

Actually in this particular game it was more of a horrendous choice by losira... billowy already had 2 robo and his mutas didn't do what he needed so it was quite a blunder. 700/700 for a few probes while teching into something that is bad vs what your opponent is already doing is
Scouting, 2 robo, or great tech timings are all of the incredibly important options for fighting vs lurkers. If you can't really identify it usually the game ends quite quickly with a P loss.
I will say however, the chargelot buff is quite a strong helper now as it allows you to do the multi tech without as much spreading of gas investment.
I'd like to see more Z's try lurkers on some of the odd maps, might be tougher for the toss to handle on those maps; though it is equally true that may impact the timing itself.

Major most likely is participating in Copa America in a couple of days for WCS points and $$. I would think he went to Mexico to have less lag and this would explain his absence. Not sure though.

Major isn't there, and Kelazhur next in turn (Kelazhur is 5th by WCS points) explains it. If the comment was true then it was 11 koreans and 5 foreigners, which makes less sense.

Of the seven other players, I think Neeb has a decent chance or is even favoured against 4-6 of them. I think Byun is favoured against Neeb. Rogue and Byul are bigger threats, but Neeb performed decently against Solar, so I think he should stand a decent chance if he were to face them. I just hope he gets far enough so that when he is knocked down to the lower bracket, he is mostly qualified.

toss is the most played race in KR GM though, and becomes quite frequent again in high masters / low GM.

Ok so it's not that shameful for ByuN to lose a map to PenguiN since this guy was able to beat Ryung. Still, it seems that this mappool favors mech a bit too much -;-.

Either soO is that bad / jinxed in finals, or the stacks of these qualifiers weren't as high. I didn't see the matches today unfortunately :/. Is there a BYOC or something in IEM for the players that failed the qualifier or will it be today qualifiees only?

But yeah, it'll be sad to have just Stats, herO and Trust in IEM, especially since - correct me if I'm mistaken - I believe Stats is a lot below the peak form he had when he won GSL.

? I am not talking about balance, I don't understand your post. You spoke about carriers vs carriers, so PvP, but what I am saying is that even tho it's good not to have too many PvP (or any mirror, but I'm relatively ok with TvT being a terran myself and finding that the most entertaining mirror), if it allows for more interesting match-ups in the real tournament, it's ok.

Stats has indeed fallen far. He's still very good of course but no longer the best player in the world, and even best Protoss is arguable. herO and Classic have both been doing pretty well recently, though.
Trust seems to be having something of a surge, though I very much doubt it will be enough for him to beat the top-tiers.
