Lost almost 10 probes on one base, never got his third, had to all in, won because states cant split for shit. He was always going to attack, and techwise he was massively ahead. That's perfectly fine. The dark shrine did essentially nothing as well, that alone balanced it out. It was always going to be a disruptor attack after gaining air control and proxying the robo bay. He lost 7 workers and a pylon powering his robo for 2 dt's. His attack was delayed for more than a minute while Stats was nearly full saturated on a third. MyungSik was incredibly far behind on the same tech. Disruptors are useless tech in PvP unless they unscouted which these were. MyungSik made the one play that could win him that game, and it worked. That's so, so wrong. Disruptors are AMAZING, they're an absolute game ender unless you can hard counter them, which you can only do with phoenixes or your own disruptors and blink. Stats had neither, because Myungsik had map control and Stats never intended to get blink. Even if they had been scouted, they'd have been very difficult to counter. The only reason why you don't see them nowadays is because you usually die to straight up attacks while teching to them. But Stats never had map control this game. Difficult to counter? Were you watching the game at all? He built mass adept, because he didn't see the disruptors, Had he scouted, even slightly he could have made 2 phoenixes, with the startgate he had, that would have been ready before Myungsik got to his base. He could have cut adepts and made pure immortal stalker with blink on the twilight HE ALREADY HAD. States had complete map control for the first 8 minutes of the game. Myungsik's entire army was three pheonixes, that did 0 harass. They did no harass because Stats stayed home with units in his mineral lines, as he should. That's what the phoenixes are for, that's why there were only three. And you can't just make stalkers and a few phoenixes, that'd be terrible. Myungsik had an adept/immortal army himself, that murders Stats if he just makes stalkers. And where exactly would the money for phoenixes come from, considering the dark shrine investment and continued immortal/stalker production + blink research? You make it sound like Stats was on fully flowing 6 gas economy the whole time. Anything Stats does, Myungsik can counter with his standing army and tech he has. Blink stalkers? Immortal/adept wins. Phoenixes? Not enough on the ground, and Myungsik can just keep making phoenixes with the air control he already has. You're saying he should have made a stalker/phoenix army, but that would have been a horrible choice here. And there wasn't enough money for stalkers, phoenixes, immortals AND adepts. Which is what he'd have needed here. Stats' best shot would have been to skip immortal production in favor of an almost pure adept/archon army and hope he can win with numbers. Phoenixes would be useless in that fight at least, and archons can tank a disruptor hit, as well as micro out of it much better. And this is if he scouts disruptors. As it was, Myungsik was most definitely was not behind. | ||
