Hopefully a few more good players show up this time!

I find this a very nice idea. Was thinking of the same thing last year, a sort of progamer+fan interaction , albeit not archon mode since there isn't an official test version, but anything like this is excellent.
|
Yeah we're advertising as much as possible to try and get a good turnout, and happy birthday Templar!
@xtorn I'm glad you like the idea, we were hoping to create a fun bit of fan/pro interaction but we may need to tweak it a bit because the last few episodes (especially the PartinG one) consisted of the pro gamer continuously beating up on the fans

We were 3-1 damn it!

We could have 2v1s in LotV, or even 3v1s. The problem with archon mode is that 2 normal people with 120 APM will still be way, way worse than a pro with 240 APM even if they aren't duplicating anything the pro is doing.

We could try this for sure. I'm not sure if it would be the way to go about it because "Turtle to 400 supply" could either make the least exciting games ever or it could be the win condition that the amateur team needs to make this possible. It is definitely worth trying though.

Great initiative, hope the turnout is good! This reminds me of the old-school TL Attack shows where fans got to play against their fav pros.

This is true, but isn't this more of a "lets have fun" type game rather than "lets make it fair/balanced". Tbh, if you got 2 diamond+ players (and they were friends/on skype), it could possibly be a decent challenge for the pro. Especially in very micro focused matchups or situations.
Example: Doing reaper/hellion + banshee harass while having to macro up/switch addons/build additional infrastructure in TvZ. It can still be difficult do something like that near perfectly (even players like Taeja/Polt float ~400-600mins at times when microing intensively in the midgame) and if you have players that know what they SHOULD be doing, having 2 people can really help.
One player could constantly be doing that 2 medivac timing, snipe banelings, push creep, load and retreat when lings come (pre-muta) while the other player macros. It gets even harder when its 3v1, because if you kept your hellions (in some cases banshees too) alive, the third player can constantly be harassing queens and the 3rd/4th base, all while the first player macros and focuses on the base.

Ok I should be in this one

We're glad you like the idea of the project you should play in the event, new participants are always welcome.
It's possible that the problem with our archon teams being beat up on so hard is that strategies and tactics for archon mode havent been fully fleshed out yet. A common issue in episode 2 was that most of the games ended before actually getting to a point where the multitasking ability of archon mode was advantageous.
If our players can get to the mid and game then it could definitely create an interesting match, especially if our archons use a strategy that relies on things like multipronged drops and harassment.
So once again, all new participants are welcome. We would love to see some great games
And @cricketeer, we look forward to seeing you at the next show

See, the problem is me and Templar have done most of the playing, and me and Templar are both quite bad at the game. We can't play one aspect of the game as well as a pro can play all at the same time, even if we can focus on it. You just need better players, that's all.

Excuse me but you have a 3-1 record vs PartinG!
But in all seriousness, we did have that one grandmaster last show and that didn't exactly go fantastically. I think another problem is that it's very difficult to have people who are 1. Good 2. Playing the same race 3. Available during the time of our show
It would be interesting if we could find a way to do a 1v1 match against the pro but that would be a totally different series and we would have to find a new way to handicap the pro

I'd be willing to do this as a Terran or Zerg. I'm high diamond / low masters with zerg, and diamond with terran.

Thanks for the signup blargh feel free to bring your friends.
And joshie, our registration at the moment is not incredibly necessary, the event is still gaining momentum and we have been able to accomidate all people who want to play, even if they show up half way through the show. What signing up does for you is give you preferential scheduling incase the event does get ppopular and we have a surpluss of volunteers. As a general rule we take signups up to and including the day of the event
Edit: thanks for the signup banjo, I think I still have you added from last time

Hi Bacon, I sent you a PM with my signup! Thanks for hosting again

Just an idea to pay back Parting: on april fools get two pros that pretend they're in bronze league to go up against him. Funny if he wins, funny if he loses.
