That TvZ was great today. If only he won a few more maps...

There was no losers finals, Dreamhack does RO16 onwards single elim bo3 with bo5 finals. It's absolutely terrible. It's probably why Dreamhack has such weird finalists, it's down to a lot of bracket luck most of the time. He's referring to Winter last year where it was a double elim bracket similar to this year's format.

Yeah we're not talkin about winter we're talking about all the other events leading up to it.
And that's the end of the group, everyone with 2-2 series score. Headsmashingly stupid format, look at those results.

Sad for Snute. Luckily 2 zergs are still in. Life and JD fighting!

Random side note since we're talking about MKP.
I still hope one day we get a team with Polt and MKP.

It's not random - it came down to maps won. There will never be a perfect format that'll satisfy everyone

But there are significantly less stupid formats that every other tournament uses which result in a lot less disagreement.
Just because you have a ruleset doesn't mean your ruleset is any good.

So I think we can determine from this and Blizzcon is that Zerg is crazy UP and Life is stupidly good.

To get out of the group you still have to be the better player, you still gotta beat 2 opponents. In this format, you can get kicked out of the group through results that you have no chance to influence. You can beat the top 2 players, as Impact did and then lose anyway because of mapscore in other series.
What? Lose 2-series against Zest and someone as good as you and you are out, but the other guy advances by beating a much worse player in the losers match and than you again. It's determined by the order of games rather than the actual result. There is no fairness in that. Why do you think, GSL format doesn't get used outside of esports? It's just awful...
On November 28 2014 06:40 TotalBiscuit wrote: The format is terrible. Nobody uses it anymore in SC2 and for a good reason. Even Dreamhack doesn't use it most of the time, they moved away from those group formats to GSL style 3-stage groups because it avoided situations like this, but for some reason we're using it in a grand final.
So you can forgive me if I'm a little salty. I might as well have set $1300 on fire. I have no right to forgive you anything, you stand above me. Ofc you are salty, most people in your position would be and I can see, why you would attack the format. Being salty doesn't make you right, though.

If they had to do this, I still think using bo1 tiebreaks is far superior to using H2H or map score.

If the viewers want variety with the use of stupid formats they're more than welcome to pay for the cost of the players flights.

Yes Dreamhack being the only SC2 tournament to use this format is because they are creative visionaries, rather than it being a stupid format that people don't use because it's bad. I'm sure it's just me being salty and not the ridiculous situation we find ourselves in where an entire 5 man group went 2-2.

Actually, I was happy when Polt left Prime, that OptimusPrime shit was fucking retarded. But yeah, one day again.

Some people are just responding somewhat annoyed because their favorites got stuck, probably. Complaining about the format afterwards is... odd. Players know the format, know the risk, they know every map counts in the end.
