It should be if you are picked/challenged and win you can't be the next person chosen. If a tournament is gonna have a "pick'em" format it should reward you for winning a series since often if one person is considered the weakest they will get picked every single time, like Puck. There are many interesting ways they could have made the rules for this tournament and instead they went with arguably the dumbest format.

Cleary it was not just Polt decision, but more the other players decision.
He was the last hope for the others to get extra 100$, they would have blamed him for not picking Puck. In his interview, I feel like he was a bit embarrassed by the situation.
It's probably also a way to protect himself. He is the one who provided them extra money so he gains recognition and won't be challenged for a while. (Also because he is a beast)
I think it a good situation for Polt, also since the two zergs lost 1 life.

I don't want to sound like a total conspiracy theorist, but it also feels partly like a decision Red Bull whispered in Polt's ears... for entertainment value to spice things up... unfortunately the outcome really was a let down.

And what a joke if the extra $100 mattered to them more, all of them (and yes that includes Major) have earned more than Puck ever will via tournament winnings or salaries from their teams, which again is why I'm really disappointed in Polt for making that decision at the end if and only if it came down to it being his and the 5 others decision

you are a total conspiracy theorist.

It's not only about the game. puCK should have taken them all out on a kick-off dinner the evening before. Maybe given Major Windy a pokeman card present. Told Scarlett that HuK talked shit about her. He should have played the game

He did play the game. He played it 5 times more than either Scarlett or Major and won more times than either of them. This is meant to be a Starcraft tournament, not a sociology experiment.

EDIT:

The more I think about the format of this tournament, the more stupid it actually becomes to me :S

Actually the worst format I've ever seen. It's horrible. And I feel bad for puck.

I really enjoy the format, but I think maybe they should limit the number of times a particular player can be challenged in one round. In the case of a six player group, maybe only allow one player to be challenged a maximum of three times per round. The group could be seeded such that the higher seeds get to play first, so that the lower seeds may not necessarily get a chance to challenge the player they want to play the most.

maybe that or have people advance to another round depending on how many matches they've won compared to how many days they make it?

lol, what I'm trying to say is have the format where people can challenge others, such as this, but they advance depending on matches won, not the amount of days they make it in as not to reward what happened to puCK yesterday

edit: now that I think about it this wouldn't work in this format

There are 6 players, it can't be a normal tournament. Anyway, you can't blame them to try new stuffs and innovate.
I think the format is really interesting but has its flaws.

can't believe someone really thinks the format is bad. Its brilliant! Its much more that just choosing the opponent
now think about all the anger of today and what is going to happen tonight given that players most likely know about the fuzz about Puck but also had time to come with their next strategy. Do we know if they talk outside of the tournament? Do we know what are the relationships between them? Maybe yesterday was a prank and then players shared their money of the tourney with Puck?

This is so much fun!
