I won't be able to watch this because I'll be at the hospital with my brother, but historically Life has done pretty well the few times I've not been able to watch. Hopefully that trend continues so that he wins this group 4-0 instead of 4-1.

I think you can actually play ubersafe to get there. You will be behind, but assuming your opponent is not going to deal with it properly I think that it could actually be a good approach. I mean, how else are you going to beat Life in that matchup? I guess you can try the traditional "coinflip if you are not good enough" approach which can work in ZvZ. Yet, Life may actually do exactly that himself...

Gogo, Zealot Toss! Stomp some Zerg face.
Edit/ Nice pun, cheekymonkey! :D
Terrans are qqing in every thread nowdays :D They need to probably stop, and then Flash, TY and company will stop failing. Karma is such amazing stuff sometimes.
Life 2-0 Rogue Classic 2-0 Hydra Classic 2-0 Life Rogue 2-1(1-2) Hydra Life 2-0 Rogue/Hydra.
soO isn't in this group and it's not semifinal, so Life is lock. Classic will join Rain in SKT T1 Protosses who came first in their groups while soO and Dark will be SKT T1 Zergs who came second in their groups.

you're missing out on life
What's there to miss? Either Life godmodes the group as is his god-given right, or he flunks out to A-moved Roaches and a cannon rush or a Colossus/Tempest deathball. Predictable or infuriating, or some devious combination thereof, take your pick.
IMO the only series that has the potential to not suck is Life vs. Classic. For that to happen, first Life and Classic would both have to win their matches, which is likely, and then Classic would have to channel either his inner Rain or his inner Parting, which is a lot less likely. Personally, I don't like giving a Protoss player that kind of power over the quality of my evening. ;(

Terrans in a group yields Terran tears. Terrans not in a group yields Terran tears. Terran tears are drowning TL. What can save us from the ever rising tide of salty brine?!

Finally seeing a TvT in GSL Ro32+
Olli says PvP is better than TvT
He wouldn't lie to me, would he!?
PvP is only interesting now because of maps like maze, and because of protoss dominance we will never see a TvT on maze (which would be amazing).

Well I guess Zeus wanted me to watch this group seeing as thunderstorms have woken me up. Time to do some hw and stay up until school watching some good ol' ZvZ! Woohoo! Let's go Life and Classic I guess, altho Rogue would be cool too.
Actually scratch that let's go Rogue and Classic, Life's gonna win tho.

tbh i prefer the banter. we can see what's going on anyways and when something crazy happens Artosis usually talks about it, and their banter is fucking hilarious and can bridge the boring parts of a game. considering the amount of ZvZ coming up, that can't be too bad.

There was talk about Artosis turning into bats and then Tasteless couldn't talk for a few minutes because he was crying from laughter

Their banter is of legendary levels.
When there is a proxy, they will cut the usual pre-5-minute chit-chat and just cast the rush/cheese.
If its CC first vs Triple hatch before pool - bring on the Vampire-Artosis-turning-into-a-difficult-to-control-bat-cluster conversation.
Life as a human is weird. I attended twice a live event where he was playing, and he would often dart out of the booth as in some kind of crisis. You probably had a glimpse of this from the Octopus face, some tilts during GSL or the Iron Squid finals.
That or he has bladder issues, I didn't go check on him.

Having a 6 in the morning brainfart, will attack move make the banelings target the spines first instead of the drones?

If you don't disable auto-attack on the buildings I'm pretty sure they will attack the closest thing that's a potential threat first. (i.e the spines).

He wanted to end the game, but using blings for Spine is imo least costefficient, its even better to trade vs blings because ling surround kills both queen and spinecrawler.
And if he recognized that Life is being way more cost efficient (heavy mineral defense with queen and spinecrawler is always cost efficient) he should definitely go for drone line, using 2 pairs of blings from both sides would surely kill some drones.
Yes bling attack spinecrawler but blings were focus fired on spinecrawler if iremember correctly.

Really cool game. Classic played well. But Hydra realized he can toss an army at the Protoss than toss a remaxed army at them and win. Two quick attacks. 4 bases (5?) > 3

Yeah, it annoys me sometimes. Especially when I want to cheese but no, we have to play a "proper game".
Defeating the swarm hosts for poetic justice! But damn, should the prismatic alignment be removed from the game. If it wasn't for that particular upgrade, airtoss might be beatable.

Classic could have won this on 3 base at the very begining ? couldn't he ? like hydra was so low on drone and tech with no army just make gates and a click

That was pretty derpy from Classic.
EDIT:
He won anyway, but still, that was a massive derp.
come on, you can micro pretty well against fungel the way it is now
Not that fugal. It locked down ALL of the P air units while the Z units where on high ground and out of range. It was Pure money. Perfect. And chained to kill most of the air force. It forced an engagement the P didn't want at all. And Z won it

With void ray/colossus openings not really, that army takes too long to kick in. If he'd gone phoenix/colossus/blink stalker then probably yeah.

is there a "name" for this? i mean it happens again and again. wolf predicts something and it doesnt happen. poor wolf
If we were nice we'd call it unlucky. If we were mean we'd call it a lack of genera game knowledge. Do you feel more like day9 or like catz is the real question.

That's what I meant ofc, why add 2 stargates when your oponent doesn't have jack ? Just MC your way to his throat with gates

I was not paying attention to SC2 in last year does Life have bad ZvP right now?
It's not completely horrid, but it isn't nearly as good as his other two atm.
He's not very good in the later stages with swarmhosts and his aggressive plays are easier to shut down these days with how easy it is to defend with protoss.
On May 09 2014 20:13 sharkie wrote: Sorry... But how the fuck are you supposed to prevent cannons vs protoss as zerg?
its such a stupid mechanism
It's fucking bonkers. Protoss clicks 5 times, Zerg can defend out of his mind and still come out even or even behind.
Such skillful opening.
haha, sure
He's right... Protoss isn't risking ANYTHING with this build and zerg could lose the game just by one single micro mistake... It is stupid.
It entirely depends. A botched cannon rush sets you incredibly far behind. It depends on how much minerals you put into it, what your Forge timing is, etc. Just like any other build, that is

He doesn't have one it seems, pretty bad play from him.
I think he lost it to a Corruptor. PO would not have been of much use against all that Zerg, anyway. It's basically one cannon, remember? Time Warp may have been useful, though, with some of those engagements.

Or maybe better overall gameplay from Classic as he had many ways to discover those bases.

Hidden bases are only possible if the opponent is bad at scouting...

Also it takes a lot to saturate them properly, so they aren't as strong as they seem on paper imo.

Welp, that's what happens when you try to be aggressive with hosts. I will never understand why zerg players insist on trying when it has such a low success rate.

Because some of them actually do not have it in themselves to be lame.

Because you can't just sit on 4 base and protoss takes all bases?
Overall pretty good game by Classic. The initial idea was cool, the slow zealot runbys were a bit weird but his transitioning/fights were pretty good all game

Because some people still want to retain some dignity, even when using then Quite good mid and late game from Classic that game, he could possibly have won earlier had he scouted and denied the hidden bases.

Watch Roro play ZvP on Frost. It's like a revelation. Honestly, of all the top zergs in the world, Roro and Stephano are the only ones I think have truly figured out how hosts really work. And to my great delight, it kind of looks like JD is beginning to get it as well.

JD played SH defense against Nony in the WCS quite well. He's getting there.

Well, with all due respect to Nony, being able to play it vs top level protoss players is much much much harder

I know right? Your two zealots have one job. Be hold positioned in the gap in your wall. Yet it always seems Life's opponents always move there Zealot or not hold position it or position it wrong.

True, I was just happy to see he didn't send 10 of them off creep with no support to get butchered for no discernible reason. Baby steps.
I think part of Life's power is the fear he inspires in his opponents! He also tries and tries again with his lings, so it seems like he always finds an opening at some point.
as far as i heared fro mother casts, 2nd carapace in roach vs roach makes NOTHING! same amount of shoots absolute no difference ... so whats wolf talking ?

Question: How does Liquibet work? I've just started using it and so far i've got a 5-0 or 6-0 record so do you get like more points if you manage to have a streak? like if you get 3 rights in a row then you're right a 4th time you get like 3 points instead of 2? Also, Go Hydra!
I really don't like that cast, do you know why artosis isn't here ? It really doesn't feel like code S without him New caster rotation or hearthstone stuff ?

Rogue played a good ZvZ in ProLeague this week, but anytime I see Rogue in a vs a Zerg I think auto-loss. The ZvZ's I've seen of him have all been embarrassingly bad. Didn't get to see his games today, but he lost both his ZvZ's again (last time he played Hydra was the hardest ZvZ series to watch).
I'm a big Rogue fan but I just can't have any confidence in his ZvZ.
Tough group though, better luck next time! Now I wana see Hydra make it, but I have a feeling it'll be Classic =P

Ah yes, the classic 6pool into lose late game ZvP. My favorite.
All seriousness tho really good game from Classic. Hydra had good ideas but clearly was not able to execute them against a player like Classic. Looking forward to him and Life in the Ro16!

I always thought it was BS when people said they "enjoyed" korean casters more even though they don't understand them. But that final game when the zerglings got through I understood why. Their reactions were priceless. Good stuff.
