That's sort of like if they just kept adding new units to starcraft every few months. I mean, it's different obviously, but still. Right, but over time there will be cards which are found to be more consistent which will be played over the RNG cards.
But it's still always gonna be RNG. The game can be won or lost based on you're card draws very easily, even if you make all the "right" decisions. So you can't say there will ever be cards that are consistent, the nature of the game prevents it.

Random starting decks and random card drawing will always be THE major factor. The only skill i can see would be in building decks. It wouldn't be surprising if they released cards which function as cantrips (look at the top few cards in your deck and rearrange them) or fetches (look for a _____ card, put it into your hand), which is what MTG does.

Not necessarily, it will get figured out eventually very quickly. Different combinations will arise but the concept is still the same, you have to rely on "luck" to actually draw the card in the first place. The "skill" is constructing the deck, and knowing which order to use the cards, and that is figured out extremely quickly. Comparing it to SC2 doesn't work either, because if they were to continuously add new units to the game it would be wayyyy different, because you actually have a choice in which units you build at which time in the game, and you actually control how much damage you deal out/how much you take based on your actions and "skill" inside the confines of the game. Hearthstone the skill is basically selecting the "units" or cards and that's about it.

Most players counts cards and know what the opponent's deck is by the 1st or 2nd turn and become able to play around their cards. They then make calculated risks based off of the likelihood of what the opponent can draw and run the percentages or bait out bad moves from the other guy.

How were the WC3 games by the way? I read on the other LR thread that Grubby/Stephano didn't lose all of their mechanics.

Of course, i didnt say there is no level of skill involved, just that RNG is the dominating factor. If people want to watch that (and they obviously do) then fair enough.
