It really is. Swarm Host or muta basetradeis how you win ZvP period, where mutas are more situational and far more fragile. Swarm Hosts turtle with proper support units works against EVERYTHING, and is extremely sturdy. Can't blame zergs for playing to win, they do this for a living.
This is what you get when your mid game army is trash even with a 60 supply lead, your static defense can move and your T3 is all but un-killable with proper composition and position.

I don't think this is true. There is a world of difference between practise games where you can just load up another one and tournament games. There's an added layer of pressure and a higher level of focus required.
