I'm all for making sure Simon pays everything he owes his players, but I feel that's more wishful thinking than helping Hyun out - something the community evidently is quite capable of doing. Giving Hyun money won't fix the mess nor will it prevent similar situations in the future, but neither will doing nothing and feeling good about being "mature". You also seem to underesimate the collective memory of the Starcraft II community in thinking that "all will be forgotten" past this stage. If you turn out to be a shady guy or an untrustworthy organisation, people stop trusting you. It's happened multiple times before, and I am pretty sure that screwing a fan favorite out of $23.000 in both salary and prize money isn't something that will be forgotten by next week. I'm pretty sure the community could easily find out where he lives... Or has everyone forgotten that this isn't the first time Simon fucked over one of his players? http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=431056 He's building a reputation as a jackass, and IIRC MaSsan's skype conversation stated that he lived in Simon's house for a period of time, but the skype conversation was edited out of the OP, but is still somewhere in the thread. ~_~

I Could use help paying off my student loans maybe we could get Incontrol and Grubby to play each other for money for me. Have you entertained and won the hearts of thousands of people? We could all use a little help, but I don't see how it's so hard for people to accept that a fanbase could possibly want to give money to someone they support/appreciate. "DAED GAEM DAED GA-- oh what's this, an extremely popular and talented player was screwed over and is considering retirement? AND HE'S ACCEPTING DONATIONS FROM FANS? WHAT A GREEDY PRICK! WE DON'T NEED HIM! GOOD RIDDANCE! WHY IS SC2 DYING?"

The root of the problem needs to be taken care of before you start charity runs for 50 players and that is the contract. Does he not have one? I'm pretty sure he does... So what you would say is, that HyuN should retire and we just do nothing. Because we can't do anything about the contract and neither can HyuN.

Why would he have to retire? Does retiring mean he gets his money back? First of I don't know why his winnings were deposited to his team manager and not him directly if his contract is worthless. I would never allow such a thing if I knew I couldn't bring the person to court. Second, wasn't there plenty of warnings about this Simon/Quantic situation? With so many warnings it's even more confusing why he would allow this to happen. Yes he would still be out of his salary but I'm pretty sure that's nothing compared to his winning amount. Anyway it's possible we are going too much offtopic here, I just wanted to highlight the other X amount of players this has happened to. If this becomes a trend to bail out players we are gonna have a charity run every week and yes I know donating is completely optional.

The SC2 community apparently does not like to think ahead for the future. They just do things based on emotion. Very few rational minds here. "Oh Hyun got screwed over? Let's all donate to him instead of addressing the real problem!!!" The players need to be smarter with their decision on teams. The community needs to be harder on teams that run scams. Quantic should have been destroyed a while ago. It blows my mind that Quantic was able to exist for so long.

Basically HyuN said that he can't stay a progamer and has to retire without the money. The winnings of DreamHack are payed to whoever rightfully claims it, team or player. See also: http://www.dreamhack.se/dhs13/esport/prize-money-policy/ 2. Well, he paid HyuN salary for 5 months, so HyuN probably thought it will be okay and that Simon will pay him. Probably a mix of goodwill and missing information by HyuN.
