i remember watching a game in proleague... might have been a few months ago
terran vs protoss
the terran won by CONSTANTLY doing 4 medivac drops into the protoss base like must have dropped 20 times. each time the protoss had forces to defend but each time the drops were still pretty decent and did fairly ok
then eventually he was doing like 8 medivac drops
then by the end after saccing SCV's slowly he had like 20 SCV's and a 180food army at 35 minutes. marine, marauder, medivac, hellbat, with like 4 vikings and 3 thors
it may have actually been innovation doing it im not sure
imo thats the key to beating toss you stall with drops and mass expanding until you can get a 180food army using the power of mules

Nah it's just that Rain is too good for Maru. Best player in the world against someone who shouldn't be even in ro8.

Its nexuscannon that gives him turtlepower.. cant beat an early nexus cannon as terran.. harras will never fully pay off.. Rain was heavy favorite before match for a reason..

Why anyone thinks Protoss is supposed to be played a different way is beyond me, its almost unbeatable.
That's because Rain is simply better than every toss by a significant amount. His control, multitasking and most importantly positioning make him such a tough nut to crack.
Most Protoss could have done that exact game rain just played, at least the ones in Korea. Most korean protoss easily have the mechanics to play that style. In fact, going for any aggression as protoss can be more taxing mechanically. He literally sat in his base just macroing up, never had to defend against any drops because his build was airtight with the late 3rd base.
Is that why Rain was the only protoss to win a PvT in Ro32?
Your missing the point, I'm not saying every protoss does it, I'm saying they could and they should. Instead they chose gimmicky builds a lot of the time that have a much lower success rate than playing this lategame style where you turtle into an army advantage.
Its not a coincidence he was the only person to play like this and get past the ro32
Yeah, every protoss should play like Rain, every terran should play like Innovation. They don't.
Deal with it?
Why the hell wasn't MMA the first terran to go all insane with drops
I am still a bit bitter MMA never turned out to be the next great Terran. Loved his TvZ dropping but he always went full retard in TvP.
I don't get how people dont understand what I am saying. Obviously not every terran can play like Innovation. He plays the same STYLE as everyone else just with better mechanics. Rain however is the only one that plays a super safe STYLE.
An example is Innovation plays bio/widow mine in tvz, like EVERY OTHER TERRAN.
Well other protosses tried defensive styles, and the Ro32 happened.
Most of the protoss imba whine that we see is because protoss can play intensely greedy and still get away with it without being broken. Rain plays as if protoss was underpowered. Insane safe, getting behind in eco, no risk, ever. And a lot of people (not you I guess) are still ready to blame his race on his win, because Innovation is the only one allowed to play better than mere humans.
The only other protoss I can see having played very similar is Yonghwa, whos had a good amount of success vs Terran in GSTL if im not mistaken. I just find it frustrating when protoss roll the dice on builds when there is no need to do so. It is on the terran to kill the protoss, not the other way around.
Yea and this is why you don't see 111 type builds EVER with the current meta.
MSC is a catch all defensive tool that blocks virtually every attack you can do with it except for cloaked banshee (which is very hard to make cost efficient) and then has the problem of being very hard to follow up. You're late on upgrades and Medivacs usually when you open that way.
If you don't do damage early with whatever opening you go for you're extremely far behind.

Ouch BM as fuck
He's not wrong, Bogus is the top terran, and would of made this finals interesting, but Maru did metagammed him pretty well with his cheeses/allins so he's gets to be here. But Rain is just too tough for Maru.
