They dont but people do like to assume. I personally would say Rain vs Innovation had good chances to be epic as both are known to prefer macro

I think Maru is forced to be Optimus.
Polt fucking hated the ID and then peaced out like two months later.

SO HYPE but I think international viewrship will be low due to this other event where there's like a robot, a skeleton and a monkey shooting little blips at each other and bashing each others skulls in.
+ Show Spoiler +pun intended and that was my best dota flame/troll, sorry. and no, I don't think they are even on simultaneously
LET'S GO Rain! 4-1 for sure.

![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/NuJnj.png) Rain' s going to win won already :$

While I totally love Rain, I'm rooting for Maru for two reasons:
1. Because Maru winning OSL against defending champ Rain would be one of the greatest underdog stories ever told. 2. Because I'm curious if he'll change his name to Optimus, let alone if Prime actually still enforces that rule.
...Okay, really I want him to win because of the second reason.

I look forward to Maru winning then going into a slump for 2 years before reaching god status.

tbh. It does not matter. Rain will smash the kid to smithereens.

Sorry, I dislike your argument that an epic game comes out of players that are known to like playing macro.
The macro game could be critically argued against: - A macro game just makes viewers feel more comfortable, because they can take time to understand the game. - Macro games look good as a screenshot. - Macro games usually have battles where a lot dies, and thus feels like it must have weight because of that. - Two players that go macro won't ever get bopped, because they both go macro. So the macrovsmacro matchup doesn't make really really one sided games. - People equate timers to epicness. For anyone who watches CLG LoL games, you'll know it matters not. For anyone who recognises that Mvp vs Squirtle game 7 was actually the game of the series, you know it matters not.
Yes I prefer games that go on for longer than 5 minutes and aren't straight up bops. I dislike players that prefer to play macro. I'm not an Innovation hater or anything, but that game 3 for me vs Maru was like a great moment of schadenfreude. I like to see pressure openings, skirmishes happening across the map throughout. Expanding with attacks. But more than that, I love watching players play a series. I know Bo1 is a thing, but as a viewer it holds no real interest for me. I'm not really interested in sc2 team leagues after recognising this.
I hope Rain comes with more than one build. I hope Maru comes with more than one build. The "macro build" holds no interest to me. Last thing I want to see is Nexus first vs CC first. Now that I've watched sc2 for a fair bit, I don't really care much for macro, expansions, etc. I just want to see cool zoning, army control and micro-management. If sc2 had less making marines and mining minerals I'd probably play it more. Sorry for the blasphemy.
Long, thought-as-I-type, post to reply to a small point haha. In short: I just want a cool series. And personally, from experience, you never know what makes a cool series.

One thing I'm worried about is that Rain isn't known for his "cool" playstyle. He's known for being a rock and letting people bash their head in trying to break him. And Maru most certainly is the headbashing type

First of all, you don't need to be so defensive. I was merely saying that I believe Rain vs INnoVation would have made the better finals. As you took your time and worded out everything, I'll give you my take on it.
I acknowledge cheese as part of the game and I admit that cheese takes as much skill as macro, yet its not the best viewing experience. At least not to me. Obviously if both players sit back and do nothing (seems what you refer to a macrogame) it can be boring instead of epic. Both Rain and INnoVation are not known for sit-back macro. INnoVation is actually pretty much in the face of his opponent all the time while Rain is very capable of defending multiple locations at once while harassing himself with runbys or warpprism.
Personally I pretty much enjoy those kind of games and while I do like planned out builds and cheese in a series, the main point at least for me should be macrogames in the series.
To your points in detail
- I don't need a macrogame to understand the game, I am pretty conformtable with all kinds of stuff - So does clever cheese, I don't see the point - Macrogames can still be a bop. It just occurs to a later time. If you don't have a transition ready and get hit before etc. - Timers don't equal epicness, yet a clever build doesn't make for an epic game in itself. A double 11 is clever vs an opponent who might go cc first, but its not epic by any means. If you straight out win in 3 minutes - how is it epic? It was smart, it was skilled and a good read/preparation, but nothing short of a boring game. The thrill from the game comes from not knowing how it playes out. I guarantee you will rewatch a macro game before you rewatch a cheesewin.
I hope Maru is prepared to play macro games, as I can tell you (I'm Terran) that a cheese against Protoss rarely works. A 11/11 can work but its absolute allin, aside from that there's little to no cheese that is actually effective if Rain doesn't completely pull a First. While you say you want to see a cool series, Rain usually playes macro but he does vary his builds.
Against Bomber we saw 10 gate pressure into allin. Against INnoVation we saw a 2-2 zealot/archon timing. His main focus is on macro, but that doesn't mean he cannot put down aggression ;-)

If he is smart he will play greedy as fuck (1 rax double CC) and hit a timing afterwards. Bomber vs Rain on Anaconda actually showed you can easily get away with it as Rain usually doesn't scout such a thing super early but on the other hand you never know what Rain is up to-_-

It's not the Fall. I wonder if we'll have a Legend of the ____ season in SC2.

Yeah the scary thing is that Rain is starting to mix in Parting's shenanigans every now and then so it's super hard to predict what he's up to. I mean, I've never seen Rain throw down 7 gates and do a balls to the wall 8 gate all in or something but he's definitely not afraid of being more aggressive now.
He still does it with his rock-style though. If he has any control over the game then you can be sure that he's comfortable with it. And really all he has to do to get control against Maru is defend well.

i believe rain will be well prepared for maru's tricks and i can't see him beating rain more than once or twice in a macro game.
