This is true in all match up but it's less an issue because zerg eventually has mutalisk to stop drop so basically HB drop have a limited timing, and protoss also have Stalker/feedback to stop the drop. Its by no means always cost efficient. You can shoot down the medivac with vikings before entering the base. The problematic hellbat drop is the initial one. If you defend that poorly, or even the second, it will snowball. If you defend well against the initial one and minimize mining time lost and/or workers lost, you can defend pretty well and develop a very good TvT from there. OR you have to use the same build and do the same aggression, it will get a bit scrappy, but also from that point on it can develop towards a long macro TvT.

Imo the problem seems more like its too easy/cheap to execute vs the potential reward. Defending against it is so much harder since they shoot in such a wide cone. But this is offtopic! Heres to hoping Rain gives us some good games after this silly morning.

Innovation had drop capability faster and even though Flash had solid defense in first drop, he still lost 7 workers which is still bad at that stage of the game. It was strange that he didn't make any turrets but Innovation could afford to make them and Flash really couldn't. He didn't have a solid defense at all. He defended okay, and the viking trickery was a good idea... but he definitely didn't defend very well. And then, being at a slight advantage because Innovations drops were basically shut down... he inexplicably lands his only advantage and runs it into a bunker being repaired by SCVs... Flash played so badly right there that I don't even consider this legitimate. (Gratz to Innovation for winning, and he is still obviously number 1, but the real takaway here is: What the hell was Flash thinking?)

A bit silly imo. But im sure blizzard are looking at it and rather they take it slow than move to fast and fuck everything up ^^
