Cool stuff! Judging from the Dutch guys I've met I would've guessed that you guys were number one =)

Dunno why Sweden is number one... Had a Swedish girlfriend and was not impressed =p most of them had a pretty heavy Swedish - English accent :p

Though I guess the same goes for most Danes I guess =)

accent doesn't really have anything to do with proficiency though

Yeah yeah, that's very true but it does go hand in hand quite often I feel

I like how Japan has better English than France lol.

Also South Korea, what? What's up with all these Korean pros that can't speak English at all?

They drop out of school to pursue a pro gaming career. Additionally, even tho most koreans understand englisch they are to shy to communicate in english

would likely say that im surprised that austria is not on the list, but yeah... our education system sucks

looking at the numbers next to each country, it appears that this isn't the whole ranking but just selected countries. i sure hope we appear at least *somewhere* in the top 54

You're not even top 54 in the German proficiency index, bwahaha.

Well german is a pretty bad language so whatevz.

The US didn't even make the list, their proficiency in English wasn't good enough I guess.. :D
.
English isn't the official language (at federal level) of the US.

Neither did Britain or Canada or a number of other countries who you'd expect to top the list... Some part of me thinks they weren't included on purpose...

Also South Korea, what? What's up with all these Korean pros that can't speak English at all?

It is most likely based on a written test. Koreans are quite proficient when it comes to reading and writing. And then when they start to speak you wonder how that person possibly could have written the text you read before.
That which yields is not always weak.

Good English proficiency in Scandinavian countries doesn't surprise me at all. Great education system and, very important, most movies are not being localized, just the native language's subtitles are added.
