Whirlwind, Jim opens Stargate while Oz goes Blink this time, both players did some harassment and pokes with Oracle and Stalkers respectively, Jim goes Voidray Immortal after expanding, Oz goes for Colossus. Jim pushes after scouting the Colossus. Without big colossus numbers and meat shield, Oz was rolled over by Jim's vastly superior Immortal/Voidray army. Neo Planet S, both players open blink into robo, Jim attacks after scouting Oz expanding, Oz put his two immortals at the edge of his base which turns out to be a mistake as Jim snipes both Immortals and Blinks forward, Oz's low Stalker number is no match with Jim's Blink micro and concede the series 1-2. Bel'shir Vestige, hellokitty opens fast expand and XY goes reaper. hk went very fast Colossus which his first Colossus pops out at mindblowing 9 minutes, XY did a MMM push while hk was out on the map, the second time he does this hk lost his natural nexus. Hk is forced to attack after losing his nat but base trade against Terran is never a good idea as XY made vikings back in his main to defend, hk taps out shortly after. Whirlwind, Hellokitty opens aggressive 10 Gate while XY fast expands, hk's Gateway attack followed up by DT (even with a proxy robo Warp Prism drop) are well defended by XY but the Chinese Terran overestimated hk's offensive by building too many bunkers and heavily delayed his 3rd base, while hk safely gets his 3rd and eventually 4th base, teching up to Storm and Colossus, XY's drops and numerous attacks are defended by hk's superior economy and tech, hk eventually pushes into all Terran bases and forces a gg. Neo Planet S, XY opens reaper, hellokitty 1 Gate FE and get a Stargate. His oracle is denied as XY puts down two turrets. Hk went Colossus Phoenix as his midgame tech. XY successfully destroys hk's 3rd while getting up his own. XY starts to get Hellbats in his army, hk still going Colossus with no sign of switching to Storm. Big engagement happens out side of hk's 3rd, the Protoss army is no match of XY's massive bio ball as the Phoenixes are not enough to prevent the Vikings from destroying his Colossi. With no economy to get Storm hk uses Archons instead, but XY is already getting his 4th while keeping pressuring the Protoss' 3rd, after multiple skirmishes hk's supplys drops to the half of XY and eventually taps out.

Some random Capoch Trivia if anyone cares.
Capoch was a member of Legion (L_Clan_) in age of empires 2. This was a team owned by Arbalet, who was a wealthy man from Kazakhstan who used to fly his team members to Kazakhstan so that they could play in tournaments against local players there.

Kind of liked that game. Seems like such a greedy build by her(I know the queens got delayed for another hatch), nice to see a punishment for it. Was kind of frustrating to see her get away with it against I think Drunkenboi, where he killed shitloads of drones, but 3 hatch was just to much production.

Well he didn't have minerals to put the tech down did he? I mean that push seemed to me to be on a knife edge of failing, dont think he could spare the minerals(nor would he have the gas for 3x archons if he put down the tech)

We can't really use this game as much of an indicator of balance. Now if the top Protoss players are routinely getting screwed over by this build over and over again, then there may be an issue.

I think when u see tanks, u should try to build a prism immediatly. Its more like tvt, when trapped, drop and/or flank giving u mobility.

the only bit that annoys me about some of these challenger league games is that they arent trying to improve. the arent trying to become better players, using the money being pumped in to the scene to become pros. they are just fucking about until they get eliminated, then its just back to whatever again. maybe if there was a big enough incentive to play challenge league full time it wouldnt be such a shitfest idk.

tilea went super fast 4base (like pre 7min i think), capoch opened stargate and attacked with zealot/phoenix, tilea pulled all her queens to defend and didn't macro (was floating like 1.5k during the attack or something stupid), lost a ton of ovies and kept build bases everywhere. then she died.

It's probably unfair to judge a player for 1 game, but honestly that 1 game was bad. I think Tilea is capable of much more, but that game was a game she couldn't execute what she was going for. I'm guessing she tried a gimmick build, but it failed horribly. Capoch didn't play much better, but Tilea's build was just so bad, a standard push would have killed it.

XY had some pretty nice marine micro in the Challenger division qualifiers in his TvZ that we saw. He didn't look too solid in his TvT but he was playing against Center. Interested to see his TvP now.

That takes balls from the terran. Somehow when I have almost no vikings against 2 colossi rush, planting my bio outside his base isn't quite my first thought. Worked out great though and makes sense, atleast if you hit it before he has crossed the map.

Yeah Jim should have a pretty good chance of making it to the premier division depending on his round 3 opponent. He is 16-3 in recent matches going 1-1 vs Revival, a loss to center (pretty strong TvP), and the map he dropped to Oz. Also beat Hyun and 2-0d all his foreigner opponents

She race picks Terran and Zerg because she said her Protoss isnt good enough to play all out Random. It is allowed in WCS.

Well they said that yer, but I think she doesn't really play protoss well, even if she sometimes plays random. But when you mention it though, all of Capoch builds seemed quite general with 2x gw first and 3rd game was early scout into nexus first, so... maybe I'm wrong. Thought it was race picking though, but if she was playing random that makes me feel better, since I was not happy with race picking mid series

also remember when she tried to go hatch first? im pretty sure she tried that because when she plays on ladder she can hatch first alot because random lets you do that. she probably tried doing it no matter what because thats what she is used to, but thats just speculation

There were 3 koreans that attempted to play Random early on in sc2. GuMiho is the only player to even qualify for the GSL as a random player, which he did in the open seasons, but he lost in round 1. He went on to switch to terran and became a badass. The other two were GuineaPig for MVP and Superstar for StarTale, both of which only played random in the GSTL. GuineaPig qualified for at least 1 open season of GSL but he was only playing Protoss at the time, I believe.

I currently play Terran / Zerg for MYi.
I pick whatever I feel most comfortable with at the time which can vary depending on a lot of factors. The map pool available, what I know of my opponent's play-style, how well I've been performing with either race on ladder recently, which race I personally feel like playing at that time, etc. Sometimes the race I feel most comfortable with shifts during a series.

I'm not really sure what MLG draws their match database from because it is usually different from TLPD and Aligulac. for example, Aligulac has over 1200 matches on record for HuK. TLPD Hots+wol international+wol korea has 955 games for HuK

A lot of the current NA pros are complacent and over paid based on past success imo. Not to say they can't still be good, but it is frustrating as a fan to see 1) seemingly little progress to close the gap to KR or even EU for the most part and 2) very few up and coming players out of NA.
So it has been really exciting for me to see a few up and comers in WCS and a few other tourneys start to pop up. Guys like Neeb, Drunkenboi, and Xenocider all give me hope that one of them will really explode and hit that level where they can take down koreans in any given day. A guy can hope, right?

Yeah but at the same time in such low econ situation energy units are so strong. I mean I obviously know that more dps always helps, but fx in g1 he lost the momma core really silly too, and there it'd have helped a lot longer into the game. I mean if you aren't going to be babysitting it very closely it just seems to me like it's not worth it and rather let it fly in the back and recharge energy...

you really don't get it man.... i understand terran is more micro intensive but terran can do most of his macro stuff while microing at the same screen and you don't have to "hammer away at the keyboard", it's way more efficient/easier just to hold the button down. toss has a lot of stuff to do where they have to look away from the screen. I understand that terran is harder but you're being ignorant calling protoss the 1a race. and obviously play the game at low level if you don't know how to make units properly

Yeah, it should be more like "looks so fulfilling to be terran." When I play terran I can see where my micro skills drop off compared to a pro's, with just about every unit. It's fun because you know there is so much more you could be doing. I wish protoss had more than 3 units that were more microable than a thor. Blizzard should spread the skill ceiling around a bit more, because most of the protoss units are hitting their heads on it.

I don't get this sentiment. As someone that played Terran in BW and Toss in SC 2, I find micro'ing with Toss, in SC 2, to be harder than micro'ing with Terran in BW. Everyone had the same sentiment then, too, that Terran took way more micro than the other races. So much hyperbole. If it wasn't *that* hard in BW, then it surely isn't that hard if you can now have all of your units on the same hotkey.
Even if you lose some units with Terran, big deal... Marines/marauders are so much more expendable/recoverable from than losing any high priced Toss unit. Even if your race has more micro potential/demands, if there is a bigger gap in the margin for error than gap in difficulty of micro between the other races, then you def didn't get the short end of the stick.

Oh I agree with you that microing with toss is very intensive, but a lot of that is making sure your units are in the correct formation in your army for engagements and whatnot. What makes is hard is that most of the units aren't very maneuverable, so toss micro is taken up mostly by having to take extra care to set them up correctly. I guess maneuverable is the word I was looking for. You can't do as many things with your units as terran for example because they are just so much slower and less responsive. Obviously there is a tradeoff for other things like hp, but would it kill Blizzard to give toss something less gimmicky than the mostly harass-dedicated Oracle? It seems like toss is the only race that gets these gimmicks. From all of the new units, the Oracle and the Tempest are the least used by far. I hope that changes soon, because Oracles do have potential in other areas, like defending against a ling runby, but so far these gimmicky units have been very much on the miss side of hit or miss.

To see my favorite Protosses fall so far and so fast makes it difficult to get excited about SC2 anymore. Tyler, HuK, and MC have all fallen so far from their glory days. Even Naniwa has taken a dip in terms of consistency...I guess him and MC are kind of on the same page...no where near dominant anymore, but capable at least of a deep tournament run. Hoping MC and Naniwa can pull it back together...I've pretty much given up on HuK and Tyler, but would be pleasantly surprised if things changed for them.

Constantly remake Army, cause with Terrans, that doesn't come in Cycles you have to warp in, it has to be constant. Micro back, be aware of stroms (even if EMP has hit). If toss has Colossi as well, you better have another Army group for Wikings, which you spread and (at best) attack from a different angle. Better players will fokus out special units in these types of fights ofc (on both sides) And the Toss has time to warpin, as well as do something at home, while the terran breaks his fingers hammering at the keyboard :D you really don't get it man.... i understand terran is more micro intensive but terran can do most of his macro stuff while microing at the same screen and you don't have to "hammer away at the keyboard", it's way more efficient/easier just to hold the button down. toss has a lot of stuff to do where they have to look away from the screen. I understand that terran is harder but you're being ignorant calling protoss the 1a race. and obviously play the game at low level if you don't know how to make units properly
Terran has no "you get out of jail free" card and Protoss have Forcefield. The diversity of the Terran army require more micro during a battle and if you even bring some Siege Tanks it gets bigger. Terrans also dont have the "ez-mode" Feedback spell to fully neutralize AND kill enemy casters and Ghosts require a bit more micro and skill, because you cant miss a Feedback, right?

I wish protoss had more than 3 units that were more microable than a thor. Blizzard should spread the skill ceiling around a bit more, because most of the protoss units are hitting their heads on it.
I wish I could go blink stalkers and phoenixes in every match up. They are just SO FUN to use!

If it wasn't *that* hard in BW, then it surely isn't that hard if you can now have all of your units on the same hotkey. Even if you lose some units with Terran, big deal... Marines/marauders are so much more expendable/recoverable from than losing any high priced Toss unit. Even if your race has more micro potential/demands, if there is a bigger gap in the margin for error than gap in difficulty of micro between the other races, then you def didn't get the short end of the stick. Oh I agree with you that microing with toss is very intensive, but a lot of that is making sure your units are in the correct formation in your army for engagements and whatnot. What makes is hard is that most of the units aren't very maneuverable, so toss micro is taken up mostly by having to take extra care to set them up correctly. I guess maneuverable is the word I was looking for. You can't do as many things with your units as terran for example because they are just so much slower and less responsive. Obviously there is a tradeoff for other things like hp, but would it kill Blizzard to give toss something less gimmicky than the mostly harass-dedicated Oracle? It seems like toss is the only race that gets these gimmicks. From all of the new units, the Oracle and the Tempest are the least used by far. I hope that changes soon, because Oracles do have potential in other areas, like defending against a ling runby, but so far these gimmicky units have been very much on the miss side of hit or miss.
If Toss micro was anything like Terran micro, I'd go up in MMR soooo much, despite no skill increase. You and me, both, then, wish for Toss to be more "terran-like." I wish every unit was the immortal. I'm tired of every unit having a spell and having to have its own hotkey. The thing with Toss is, it's so synergy reliant. It's like having 10 different baskets, yet all of your eggs always essentially end up in one. In other words, if you lose any basket, the wheels fall off and the bus explodes. There's no margin for error when you can't afford to lose any part of the combo that makes up the synergy that prevents you from auto losing.
As for the oracle and tempest... lol. The oracle is an early game p vs p unit and the tempest is a death sentence for shop lifting. Where as shop lifting would be making broodlords. So, you rarely get to see tempest be made because why shop lift if the penalty is so severe? It's not a unit, it's a deterrent.
If they expect me to use these units in a non mirror mu, then yeah they better change something.

In my experience, Terran is just much harder to micro.
you need to scan ahead to know the toss army location, split your bio so you can get a nice concave, land those emp (extreme quick reflex if the toss ever have a HT flank set up), you need to make sure there is enough area to kite the toss army if the trade isn't going well, you need to storm dodge. the more ideal is the vikings are protected by a cliff
Toss micro is largely landing the storm, making sure the zealots aren't being blocked by the stalkers and blink if necessary. (and sometimes with guardian shield which doesn't take any skill except to click a button)
most of the gateway units don't really require micro at all. (there is no room for micro)
the hardest micro for toss is feedback vs snipe micro and that's about it.

since jim is rank 1 on korean ladder and breezed trough code a qualies and oz not really delevering in proleague id say this was almost the least suprising game. Ive never seen neeb play so that was kinda suprising to me.
