The usual: Don't flame casters or players. Don't discuss balance in this or any LR thread. Don't call your fellow posters idiots. Be excited, happy and entertained.

I predict at least half of today's games will also be 3-0.

Well if it's only half that's an enormous improvement =P

Looking rough for Stephano, travelling, vacation and HotS-launch doth not great practice make. In any case, I think (and hope) matches will be a lot better today.

this tournament has great production value and all that but first off all i think they should have re-shuffled their cards and tried again instead of going with this R32 lineup. kinda sucks when all top tier protoss players have to play mirror matches against each others in the round of 32, ensuring that only half will make it to the second series, and that so many of my favourite foreigners had to face off against two or three time GSL champions in their first series.

This is probably the first MLG where i was legitimately wishing for a losers bracket with extended series. having a single elimination tournament right after a new expansion is released and players arent too familiar with all the new units and builds dont make much sense, since good players are likely to lose and get knocked out early because of some wierd timing builds they havent seen before. In a double elimination format you would be able to see these players adapt to that sort of jazz and have potential for some epic comebacks once a player finally figures out how to beat the build or unit composition that knocked him down in the first place.

TLDR: this is the first major hots tournament after HOTS release. players havent figured out the new units yet and there are tons of "cheap" timings out there that top tier players simply have not seen before. cut the players some slack, make it double elemination so we dont have to see fan favourites and top tier players get knocked out because of some new cute timing push that someone just invented. it would be much more fun and educating to watch if they got a second chance to come up with some answer and make an epic comeback against the odds of extended series. Also, mirror matches between some of the best players in the world is the last thing i want to see when a new expansion is out and everybody wants to see how the matchups and meta-game has changed.

Leenock made zerg look pretty freaking powerful early-midgame yesterday in ZvP. I'm really excited for his ZvT vs Innovation today.

it was short in comparison before i cut out huge chunks from the main text. surely you must have something constructive to add besides this sort of nitpicking :/? its like one step above beinga grammer nazi... if you find something in my post that you agree or disagree with, feel free to voice your opinion. pointing out "flaws" in posts like that just spreads negative energy imo

well your post overall was quite negative too

there are obviously benefits and flaws to all formats, double-elim included. personally i am sad about MKP but i know full well that this was the situation, and so be it

Taeja vs Sase could be really interesting. i have no idea what sase has been up to lately, other than that we havent seen much of his pretty face in WoL events. I guess this could mean that he has been practicing hardcore for the HoTS launch, and considering that he is a pretty creative player you cant exlude the possibility that he might have a whole deck of revolutionizing Ace-builds up his sleeve.

Either way i would guess that Taeja has not been able to practice as much during the beta as he might have liked to, considering that he has had a lot of struggle in the GSL wich obviously cost him precious beta practice (unless his performance lately was the result of him playing too MUCH beta)

either way i think this might be a close series. Sase is one of those foreign players that can manage to blow you away when you expect him to fail.
