The usual: Don't flame casters or players. Don't discuss balance in this or any LR thread. Don't call your fellow posters idiots. Be excited, happy and entertained.

Is Flash going to be playing again today? I realise they're doing the last 16 first, but no idea what'll be on after that :p

Leenock made zerg look pretty freaking powerful early-midgame yesterday in ZvP. I'm really excited for his ZvT vs Innovation today.

man, I might have to stay up to watch that ZvT, it's on at an insane hour for me though

The overall tournament is damn good and a lot of fun, but I want to express again that the lack of prerecorded/prepared content about players/stories, etc. is very disappointing with the exact matchups being known long before the event.

Generally the deal with MLG, they havent fixed their huge amount of downtime to people on stream after so long now.

Anyways i fell a sleep after the jjakji vs MKP series yesterday. Anyone got any recormendations for series after that worth watching?

Hope Stephano got some practice because Last sure did !
So hyped for Leenock vs Bogus , potentially the best series of this tournament .

Well, I don't really care about downtime, when it is planned downtime and I know that it is coming (e.g. series ends quicker than expected). But they really need to work on the unplanned delays, which are probably induced by technical problems. I would've expected them to have the experience and budged to sort them out.

During older MLG's it used to be possible to rewind the stream, at least until it was replaced by the next day stream.
For those who couldn't watch live.

Is that feature removed or do you have to pay for it now?

I expect another day full of 3-0s, at least in ro32. Mvp, herO, life and bomber should all do it, though Taeja and Last surely can too. I cant believe some people predict MC to win against herO. This will rain- seed all over again, MC will be lucky to take a game off of him.

this tournament has great production value and all that but first off all i think they should have re-shuffled their cards and tried again instead of going with this R32 lineup. kinda sucks when all top tier protoss players have to play mirror matches against each others in the round of 32, ensuring that only half will make it to the second series, and that so many of my favourite foreigners had to face off against two or three time GSL champions in their first series.

This is probably the first MLG where i was legitimately wishing for a losers bracket with extended series. having a single elimination tournament right after a new expansion is released and players arent too familiar with all the new units and builds dont make much sense, since good players are likely to lose and get knocked out early because of some wierd timing builds they havent seen before. In a double elimination format you would be able to see these players adapt to that sort of jazz and have potential for some epic comebacks once a player finally figures out how to beat the build or unit composition that knocked him down in the first place.

TLDR: this is the first major hots tournament after HOTS release. players havent figured out the new units yet and there are tons of "cheap" timings out there that top tier players simply have not seen before. cut the players some slack, make it double elemination so we dont have to see fan favourites and top tier players get knocked out because of some new cute timing push that someone just invented. it would be much more fun and educating to watch if they got a second chance to come up with some answer and make an epic comeback against the odds of extended series. Also, mirror matches between some of the best players in the world is the last thing i want to see when a new expansion is out and everybody wants to see how the matchups and meta-game has changed.

dude, TLDR is meant to be short

it was short in comparison before i cut out huge chunks from the main text. surely you must have something constructive to add besides this sort of nitpicking :/? its like one step above beinga grammer nazi... if you find something in my post that you agree or disagree with, feel free to voice your opinion. pointing out "flaws" in posts like that just spreads negative energy imo

well your post overall was quite negative too

there are obviously benefits and flaws to all formats, double-elim included. personally i am sad about MKP but i know full well that this was the situation, and so be it

And plus, I don't get his argument at all. So far, all favorites have crushed their opponent without contest. The only thing we could call an upset is MKP losing, but Jjakji is a GSL champion, not some foreigner third rate player. He came very well prepared and played way better than MKP. And I say this as the biggest MKP fan.
tl;dr: No proof yet that you needed double elim to determine the best player at this event.

Is the schedule right? It says 1:30h for each series except the first one, which has only 50min?

Creator vs. Polt is gonna be so sick!

It is only normal that the players with the best fundamentals are more likely to perfrom well quickly in a new game.
And when it comes to fundamentals there simply are more top players in korea.

Foreigners will catch up again to WoL levels at some time. In the mean time, enjo the games by the quality of play and not by the origin of players!

The schedule is pretty confusing. after theyre done with R32, they are apparently gonna decide R16 by cointoss and jump straight to round of 8.
