The usual: Don't flame casters or players. Don't discuss balance in this or any LR thread. Don't call your fellow posters idiots. Be excited, happy and entertained.

Didn't Thorzain play almost nothing but HotS for months lol?

Playing is not training

It...it kind of is.

Actually, they are two different things.

Playing on the ladder/stream isn't "training" per se in terms of professional sc2 players.

A lot of players (both Korean and foreign) use ladder as their main source of practice, though.

And this is why the Elephants will crush them.

Elephants are Korean too <_>?

Honestly, I thought no balance whining/discussion in this thread? I'm seeing 90% of the posts being about balance and even TL staff getting in on it. Can we just leave balance out as we are supposed to be doing?

Beside some early-game window mines, Terran unit composition in TvP really hasn't changed so far. Medivac boost is interesting and the meta does change because of this, but I really want to see some mech, no matter what types.

I'm not one of those BW elitists who deny any mechanical play as mech except tank + mine. Any change to the stagnant MMMVG composition is welcome and interesting. It's just a little disappointing that there is still not good composition beside MMMVG out there, considering the new, viable, and interesting unit compositions that Zerg and Protoss have in HOTS, especially Zerg.

They really need to stop doing region based qualifiers. Otherwise the main tournament is always going to be a stomp.

Or Korean seeds could be placed higher. And they could be entered by anyone. Maybe they can start in the money. That way we get 2 rounds or so of foreigner LQ play.

Or we can just have open qualifiers for ALL of the invite slots.

Seedless tournament with open brackets, sounds nice eh?

Sadly, business is the most important part of esports these days it seems.

Business was always the most important part of esports.

Well I mean there was the time when esports wasnt sustainable. That was a good time. I wasnt there though because I didnt know about it.

It still isn't sustainable, but it's more the attitude that seems to have changed. It's gone from "Let's try to at least be non-profit" to "Let's make money from this". It's not all bad as it does get a facelift, the question is whether or not it still looks good in a couple years.

Purely open bracket is a terrible idea because if on the one day a player has to qualify for an event, he feels off his game or is sick, or maybe his dog died, he could end up not qualifying. Even if he is a potential champion. That's not a very intelligent format, to say the least.
How is that any worse than someone's dog dying on their first game if they're a seeded player? The fact that life sometimes gets in the way of business isn't something that should be taken into account for massive tournaments. They don't put the Tour de France on hold because someone scraped their knee/lost their dog/broke a leg.

Invites are even worse. It basically means that "Hey, we have these 16 spots in a tournament, but we're giving half of them away to these guys because we have a business deal with this organization. Basically it means that you all have to work your asses off to pass qualifiers filled with players that can throw the weirdest builds and strategies against you, while these guys are safe up till their games and will have more time practicing, relaxing, and calming themselves prior to their games.

It also means fuck storylines, which was basically the one thing that kept me watching MLG over the last year.

I mean, people did manage to beat Zerg in WoL, doesn't mean there wasn't problems with BL/Infestor.

Lol at the typical "Aspect Y of race X is OP, race X loses, cue sarcastic posts about how aspect Y of race X actually isn't OP" exchange going on here.

so youre that guy that claimed Broodlord-Infestor wasn't imba in WoL because it was possible to losing a game? Don't be so stupid. Medivac speed boost is WRECKING protoss and zerg. The games are fun to watch though.

Fun fact: When Terran is op then sc2 becomes fun to watch.

Not really a "fact" though

I understand your frustration but there is one significant difference. The metagame evolved both for Terran and Toss as they tried to figure out ways to counter it. So far no one has done anything significantly different to counter drops.

There hasn't been a corresponding increase in static defense or increase in number of defenders or increase in observers. Nothing. Playing the game the same way and expecting different results doesn't mean the changes are imbalanced.

His game against Bly yesterday was awesome turtling until he decided to lose all his workers to infestors

i didnt see his games against bly

it was mech or bio?

Bio game 1 and 2, destroyed Bly then lost game 3 as a really nice mech play, because he never got turrets at his mineral lines so burrowed infestors kept killing his workers as he moved out.

Seems like he need more time to perfection his mech

Since Terran was broken at the beginning of WoL, more than "sick up and coming" we will probably see players who have disappeared of the face of the earth come back and kick some zergs and protoss ass.

I definitely think most of the players should be seeded through the open bracket, but not 100%. For example, do you remember the MLG GSL exchange program, where the winner of MLG would get a GSL seed? I would hardly call that seed undeserved.
