I'm not one of those BW elitists who deny any mechanical play as mech except tank + mine. Any change to the stagnant MMMVG composition is welcome and interesting. It's just a little disappointing that there is still not good composition beside MMMVG out there, considering the new, viable, and interesting unit compositions that Zerg and Protoss have in HOTS, especially Zerg.

The fact that life sometimes gets in the way of business isn't something that should be taken into account for massive tournaments. They don't put the Tour de France on hold because someone scraped their knee/lost their dog/broke a leg.Purely open bracket is a terrible idea because if on the one day a player has to qualify for an event, he feels off his game or is sick, or maybe his dog died, he could end up not qualifying. Even if he is a potential champion. That's not a very intelligent format, to say the least. Invites are even worse. It basically means that "Hey, we have these 16 spots in a tournament, but we're giving half of them away to these guys because we have a business deal with this organization. Basically it means that you all have to work your asses off to pass qualifiers filled with players that can throw the weirdest builds and strategies against you, while these guys are safe up till their games and will have more time practicing, relaxing, and calming themselves prior to their games. It also means fuck storylines, which was basically the one thing that kept me watching MLG over the last year.

Lol at the typical "Aspect Y of race X is OP, race X loses, cue sarcastic posts about how aspect Y of race X actually isn't OP" exchange going on here.

I understand your frustration but there is one significant difference. The metagame evolved both for Terran and Toss as they tried to figure out ways to counter it. So far no one has done anything significantly different to counter drops. There hasn't been a corresponding increase in static defense or increase in number of defenders or increase in observers. Nothing. Playing the game the same way and expecting different results doesn't mean the changes are imbalanced.

I definitely think most of the players should be seeded through the open bracket, but not 100%. For example, do you remember the MLG GSL exchange program, where the winner of MLG would get a GSL seed? I would hardly call that seed undeserved.
