Casters
We are in need of casters to cast our tournaments. If you are a caster and you're interested, please send a PM to LaLuSh in order to be added as an "approved" observer with access to the participants' b.net IDs and identifiers. Include a line or two about your casting experience.

Thanks to
Thanks to TL user and russian brood war afficionado Rus_Brain for agreeing to sponsor these series of tournaments. We also extend thanks to Teamliquid who've graciously agreed to let us use their tournament platform for sign ups and brackets. Please note that TL are neither involved in nor are they responsible for running these tournaments. Thanks to MasterDalk and Hawaiianpig for the banner work.

SC2BW Weekly

You are encouraged to join channel SC2BW on battle.net to enable easier contact with admins and players.

Format
  • Single-Elimination Tournament.
  • Tournaments are limited to max 256 players.
  • Bracket will be displayed on TeamLiquid. Participants must log in to view opponent IDs and identifiers to contact their opponents for matches.
  • From ro4 and onwards, players must contact admin before hosting their games.
  • Winners will report results and upload replays after each round. If results are disputed, admins will review replays.
  • Best of 1 until Round of 8.
  • Best of 3 in Ro8 and Ro4.
  • Best of 5 in Finals.

SC2BW Weekly Rules
  • The following SC2BW settings are default: Unlimited selection: OFF, Automining: ON, Smartcasting: OFF.
  • Both players are responsible for verifying settings before a game start. A player may leave a game and ask for restart if settings are disagreed upon as long as no player contact has been made in the game.
  • Players may use different settings provided they both agree upon them.
  • Participants are permitted to stream/cast games throughout the tournament.
  • No cheating in any way. Includes stream cheating, playing under other players' accounts and any kind of 3rd party hacks.
  • If an opponent is not present or does not respond within 15 minutes, use SC2BW channel to report or contact lalush.955 on battle.net.
  • Every participant is responsible for providing their correct battle.net ID and identifier upon registration.
  • Excessively abusive behavior in chat or in game may result in warnings and disqualifications.

Maps/Host Rules
  • Please review the rules again for default map settings on unlimited selection, automining and smartcasting before hosting a map.
  • Players must search for "SC2BW" in Arcade when hosting maps. Maps in the arcade may be out of date. For your own convenience, please use "Create Game" as opposed to "Join Game" when creating a lobby in Custom Games.
  • It is the player's responsibility to check the map pool. If a player protests an incorrect map after playing a game on it, the game will not be replayed. A player may only leave and restart until the point where player contact is made in the game (e.g. scouting) and before 2 minutes have passed.
  • Maps cannot be played twice in a series.

Map Pool: Fighting Spirit, Destination, Heartbreak Ridge, Andromeda, Match Point, Grand Line, Medusa and Python 2.

Ro256 (Bo1) - Heartbreak Ridge
Ro128 (Bo1) - Destination
Ro64 (Bo1) - Fighting Spirit
Ro32 (Bo1) - Andromeda
Ro16 (Bo1) - Fighting Spirit
Ro8 (Bo3) - Map 1: Andromeda. Loser picks next from entire map pool.
Ro4 (Bo3) - Map 1: Destination. Loser picks next from entire map pool.
Finals (Bo5) - Map 1: Fighting Spirit. Loser picks next from entire map pool.

Disconnects/Observers/Coverage/Prizes
  • If a participant disconnects before 2 minutes into the game or before first contact has occured between players -- the match shall be restarted. Under repeated disconnects, contact an admin.
  • If a participant disconnects after 2 minutes and first contact has been made, the opposing player may decide whether the game should be restarted or not. Contact an admin under this situation.
  • If the disconnected player had an obvious advantage upon disconnecting, contact an admin in SC2BW channel who will then review the replay.
  • NO OBSERVERS are allowed in a game unless both players explicitly agree. Ro8 and onwards, no observers except those permitted by Admins and Referees may observe a game.
  • Admins may designate approved observers (casters) which must be allowed to observe.
  • Under laggy conditions a player may ask designated observers to leave. From ro4 onwards, Admin Referee will make the decision.
  • Players must have a paypal account in order to be eligible to receive prize money. Other means of transfer may be arranged, but will be associated with higher transfer fees.
  • Prize amount and placings distribution will be announced for each weekly tour in a tournament thread.
  • Please send a PM to LaLuSh in order to be added as a designated observer.

race picking ok? In BW many ppl didn't play ZvZ. I play PvZ :o.

omg wait please turn automine off... I've played over 30+ games of SC2BW in the past 3 weeks, not ONE player has requested to have them off. Every single player has asked for BW settings, bar none!

If no one has ever asked for automine, then it subsequently shouldn't be a problem for you in the tournament. Players can agree on settings, and I'd personally encourage BW settings, but at the same time I want these tournaments to have the widest appeal possible. Thus the default settings for Unlimited selection and Automine will be ON.

Race picking is OK. If you encounter an issue with race picking during tournament contact me and we'll try to resolve it. In the off chance it can't be resolved, you'll default back to your chosen main races.

The point is it's the default. If 99% of ppl atm are playing on bw settings, you're going to completely throw the ppl out of whack. Shouldn't it be standard BW settings and SC2 if agreed to?

If a player encounters multiple opponents that want SC2 UI settings, whereas others do not, they have an advantage. Plus it breaks Zerg

I agree with this a ton, I want to play in this tournament but if it isn't BW I don't see what the point in it is :/

as it is right now having one person who wants to play sc2 settings makes it sc2 settings :/

Thus a conclusion is, if both players agree to make it BW settings then rules allow them to play BW settings, is it not?

I agree. I think it would be better to enforce mandatory BW settings for all games. That way, it will be uniform and fair for the competitors (not to mention it makes for better gameplay).

I will not repeat this explanation nor continue settings discussion after this comment. The major ideas behind the settings being set as they are:

1. Not to scare any potential participants away. If SC2BW is to have a chance in the long run, attracting SC2 users as well as the hardcore BW players is a must. I'm sorry if this will force you to endure 1 or 2 games on SC2 settings against someone who has never played BW before -- life can really be unfair sometimes. Non-BW players trying the mod out in the earlier stages of the sc2bw tournament series is at the moment enough of a positive for me that it weighs out your temporary suffering.

2. If it turns out only current and former BW players are willing to participate in the tournaments I will amend the rules to reflect this fact. But first I want to give it a couple tournaments (and a few casted VODs after these tournaments) to see whether SC2BW can catch on amongst SC2 players.

3. The implementation of limited selection is not optimal. The check for whether a player has selected too many units has to be done against the bnet servers. This introduces latency before units are de-selected. Players with higher ping will find it more bothersome than players with lower ping. Hopefully with enough popularity there will be a way of influencing Blizzard in regards to this issue.

Whether I'm intruding on the perceived fairness of the tournaments or not -- this was my reasoning and it still holds. We will see after a few tours if the settings can/should be changed.

A little bit :p. MorroW was a darn good player though.

I believe he was B-.

Edit: I might have confused him with HuK; MorroW was at least B.

(Wiki)SC2BW Weekly

I will also keep in mind updating it as the SC2BW goes on

On a personal note: I think it could be cool to invite Haypro to play.

Morrow and SortOf from Western Wolves were A and A- respectively. Fun fact, Morrow, SortOf and MaNa played for the same team in BW

Attention: Tournament start was moved 1h forward to Saturday, Feb 09 9:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00)

Moved it so the later stages of our tournament won't have to compete/clash with TLS.

+1. I'm hoping SC2BW finally gets the attention it deserves for being such a well-polished mod. Nothing gets me more disappointed than going into the SC2BW chat channel and seeing only 2-3 people in it. Props to lalush for helping get the word out, and of course MaverK for creating this spectacular mod.

Worked for him.

lol, it's time to introduce scaled mining into the mod.

beastyqt vs. technics really demonstrating this point into the mid to late game. The game needs the mining speed balance that was Protoss>Zerg>Terran in bw. Despite the fact that technics didn't really tech to hive (and should have likely lost), beatyqt had way too much production for that point in the game.

honestly that was more than technics not being able to recognize his units. It it was more the fact that the mining speed advantage of terran (relative to bw) was just too much to keep up with. Hope this gets fixed soon!

I thought Lalush told MorroW to go ahead and start without him, but my Swedish is based on recognizing words similar to German so I don't really know.

Anyway, that would mean Beasty vs Arthur coming up.

That. It's one of the main reason I enjoy SC2BW, because of the fact of having the production tab, and having the name panel, etc.

My first impressions after the games are that zvz and zvp plays somewhat similar as in BW. Not having played too much, but the timings feel rather the same. It might be that Z > P by a larger than original BW margin though. I had (what seemed to be) too easy of a time against LaLuSh in my very first game on SC2:BW (zvp). Here I have to mention that I installed my SC2 on a laptop and it's kind of choppy on all low settings and that further slows the game for me down.

I am not sure if the worker mining rate is added as in BW, since I didn't pay too much of an attention/did comparasion if it's the same as in BW. I think it must be added, if it's not already.

My 2cs on zvt since there i have most tournament experience with 2 games under the belt. What I want to emphasize the most in 2nd game is that in BW there is literally NO WAY the terran starts with a supply barrack CC down on the expansion (what my opponent did) and survive so easy to a 9pool without further ling production alone, not to mention 9pool speed with constant ling production (what I actually did). It seemed that the terran expanded way too quickly and having way too much. Onto the 1st game - again i feel that there is no way a terran in bw can bunker rush, while exping with a bunker and going for a gas and a factory follow up :D and then having a 3rd expo somewhat well defended in time against first mutas timing.
Enjoy the game

super good tank positioning from beasty... holy hell terran has great defending potential in SC2BW :D thought he'd get stomped.

beasty is kind of ahead now i think... he's playing beastly.

You're quite right terran can't do that in bw, because you're effectively playing the game at a slower speed than he is without the adjusted mining time. I thought you held on for an impressive length of time despite the severe handicap.

SCVs are also insanely more effective in battle in SC2BW than BW because they are able to act like actually fighting units with A-move instead of dicking around like in bw.

Arthur should be making mass archons. Beasty is not making really any sci vessels despite having the gas. Also almost no vultures which are really good vs archons as well.

GG Arthur, that game was fun, although I think you noticed they were both not too familiar with everything anymore.

haha, this is my first time playing terran in BW, its so hard to siege tanks with O, often missclicking and stuff

Planting mines often went with patrolling instead putting them down :D nonetheless it was really fun to play in this tourny, I think knowing how tvp is now i'll do better next time

very nice, indeed.
but still, wasn't P's advatange in the begining after that reaver harrass too big? How come in the end P barely wins and terran has significatly more points after the game xD?
Enjoy the game

Ah that can explain it. The O for siege is the worst. Stimmed marines were amusing, but those minerals should have been used for more vultures .

It's because terran in this game is about 18% faster than protoss, relative to where they should be

i will make this change for the next update.
it will be difficult however. since in BW this difference was caused by the hitbox of the nexus/CC/hatchery. i might not be able to do that in SC2BW. i'll work something out.

I will get the VODs to Youtube (hopefully) sooner then I did last time haha. You will find them at http://youtube.com/nozzgamingchannel . To make a centralized place all the VODs will be up there from the tournaments.

Gnight for now, will look at the feedback tomorrow and set up the next tournament then.

Thanks to Connor for jumping in with short notice to cast with me. And thanks to MasterDalk for helping to set it up and the VOD help

I've been thinking about the appropriate fix for a while now, as I'm sure Mavervck has too, and I don't think it would be quite that easy. Changing the mining time at the crystals would probably distort how mining is supposed to scale with additional workers at the patches.

One possible fix would be to slow down SCVs and drones to the right proportions, but only when assigned to a mineral patch/geyser. This would create the desired effects, because the lost mining efficiency would stem from the longer trip the worker takes to the command center and back (and not from longer mining at the patch). But still, this might create problems for people when they are scouting/moving by clicking mineral patches. The other workers would overrun them. Long distance mining would be a mess. And the "fix" may not work as well for all mineral patch configurations.

If anyone has any ideas as to how to best fix this problem, I'd love to hear them!

Could you somehow make it so when the workers actually return the minerals, it causes a slight delay before they turn around and return to mine? This way the only time it would be relevant would be as it's returning the cargo, right before it's actually returned, or something like that.

And while longer mining times would indeed possibly distort saturation/additional workers, the effects would probably be minimal and towards the closer to the desired effect than other changes you suggested, no? Sure, it might still be different, but I don't htink it needs to be perfect.

Is it possible to have an effect where when an SCV carries a crystal, it experiences a temporary slowdown (like conc in SC2, but maybe at 90% speed instead of 50%) for like 1-2 seconds, then returns to normal speed?

i've adjusted the acceleration and deceleration values of SCVs and Drones respectively, probes were already pretty spot on.
this is also a fairly nice nerf to the scv. since it was semi-broken in it's current state. i'll continue testing these values and see how they go.

i posted an image in this thread. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=145316&currentpage=211#4206

Awesome, thanks Maverck. Hopefully that should work well!

My only concern is that the configuration you used to tweak the numbers could be a bit off. That mineral patch looks really close to the base (I'm assuming it's at the minimum distance). If it is indeed closer to the base than the "average" mineral patch is on any given map, then the numbers you obtained from your test could underestimate the actual differences in acceleration you need to modify. This is because the acceleration effect wears off over longer distances.

Also, I have no idea how accurate the rates posted on that liquipedia page are. Let's hope to christ they're reasonable

I updated Weekly #1 on Liquipedia. I allowed myself to make the bracket more compact. Sad that so many players didn't play or had problems (down to 23 from at least 34 I think + Adelscott didn't play)

(Wiki)SC2BW Weekly/1

I hope there will be some replays/vods to watch Arthur vs. Beastyqt looked the only match that wasn't 1-sided.

OK so can someone check this:
http://www.teamliquid.net/tournaments/admin/?action=bracket&id=3500
It clearly says WZP didn't play MorroW and I based LP brackets on this. Are there any other issues with that bracket?

@Master
I prepared rag-tag LP article after I read announcement, then I did cleaning up and today I added #1 section. I will try to continue to keep up with your progress. I keep fingers crossed for the SC2BW to take off and become more popular.

there was something wrong with the bracket in that regard, basically it had dirtyharry already advance without playing wzp, wzp and dirtyharry played, wzp being the winner who then played morrow.
not sure what happened with the bracket however.

I screwed up the brackets there as I got confused.

I advanced everyone without an opponent in the ro16 too quickly and didn't notice wzp still lagged behind. Apologized to both players.

Could have manually fixed it later on if it would have been necessary, but at the time I just didn't notice/understand what was amiss. I'll let it stand as it is right now, I don't want to touch it and risk screwing it up more =)

Considering that NonY is not particulary active in SC2 scene maybe he will play next time. I mean it shouldn't interfere too much with his SC2 activities but there are other factors as well.

I really enjoyed this tournament.
It was so much fun.
1h PvT in semi-final was so awesome there was action all the time. In sc2 we rarely see this and almost never in PvT.
Mech actually worked in PvT. Shot animation of dragoons is so cool.

Mech actually worked in PvT. Shot animation of dragoons is so cool.

Yeah, it would be great if SC2BW got large enough so that rockman and his cronies could get inspired to incorporate good ideas for LotV

Alright, new experience for me today. I managed to play SC2:BW in an internet caffe near my university and had no lag/choppiness and even the graphics were set to the max. The game feels a lot better this way. I recognize my units and stuff better, but still I have a long way to go.
My first and most impotant impression was that overlords and stacked mutalisks (and probably all air units) seem to have very little vision around them compared to SC:BW. When I scouted with my first overlord, it wasn't that obvious. But when I made some mutas, stacked them and went to attack, I felt like they were all partially blinded. Since the CPU was attacking me often, it felt really unsafe going through any wide areas with them.
Unfortunately, I was in a hurry and couldn't do too much muta micro practice, but it felt really hard to do any significant damage to the CPU without being heavily damaged, even on positions that are good for mutas vs marines like ramps and bridges.
Enjoy the game

Do you by any chance spawn at the bottom of the map (and was attacking upwards with your mutas)? Because of the 3D graphics, you may feel like your mutas are north of where they actually are (and hence, where they are actually producing their vision from).

I was indeed on the bottom left expansion and from what I recall, i was attacking upwards with them. They seemed blind upwards for sure. I didn't think of comparing it to downwards though.
So next time I get to play it, what should i do (settingswise i guess?) to see whether it's the 3D graphics or not?
Enjoy the game

You might wanna fiddle around with your effects settings, and your models settings. Usually those make the biggest difference (as MavercK hasn't added low effects yet).

i will compare sight ranges tonight.

things to help confirm are to always show flyer helpers (Options > Gameplay > "Show Flyer Helper")
this will show a dot on the ground below the flying unit that shows it's exact X,Y position in the game world.

Something really annoying for me... when morphing HT into archons, if you click morph, it will only morph one, instead of all at once. This is an even bigger issue because you can't spam the morph key beause as soon as a single archon starts morphing, it becomes the new priority unit, meaning the morph button disappears, and you have to reselect the templar.

I noticed this too. At first I thought it was me misclicking, but this is in fact the case. This is very annoying when you want to morph 6-8 high templar.

15 min until it starts, too bad i think MorroW is gonna win pretty easily. ^^ But perhaps the fact it's more BW settings than before will help TechnicS a bit, we'll see.

Meavis isn't bad, except that his macro is somewhat lacking since has 3 bases, but i can't blame him for that. ^^

Nice, he seems to be winning it. ^^

MorroW in TvT is pretty much impossible for him though, which is showing in the first one. ^^

...!? 6 games into the tournament I understand that for the whole time we played with the (hardcorely imbalanced in favour of T) settings from the previous tournament? (scvs mining super fast, attacking super smart) Terrans expanding faster than a Zerg in any match up while also outarmying and outharrassing the opponent?
I am frustrated beyond belief... Why do we even communicate between tournaments? I would have gladly joined to practice some games ZvT or PvT with somebody to test these matchups (with scvs nerfed) further... At least, if it was announced on time I could have some time to practice a TvT and not have to play my first 3+ minute long TvT ever when down 0-1 in the semifinals...
Enjoy the game

had to revoke that change because it was only accurate with low scv count, once you got a high number of workers the mining rate was alot slower than it should be. i'll have to think about another way to deal with SCVs

i only just got to work (tournament was at 5am for me). i'll go over the VODs soonish. any feedback feel free to PM me, i'd be very grateful.

Can you not just make it so that after a SCV mines a crystal, there is a SLIGHT pause after it has the crystal in hand? Like as soon as it mines it, maybe it moves at 80% speed for 1 second? (Imagine it getting hit by conc shell in SC2 but it only lasts for 1-2 seconds).

Or maybe we should make it like Chess World Championship. There is candidate tournament and then there is championship match between the winner of candidate tournament and previous champion

And I updated brackets on LP so check if there are any errors: (Wiki)SC2BW Weekly/2

I don't know what more to say anymore.
MavercK, how many games of ZvT/PvT were played testing out the slower SCVs? How many games (played on a high level on both ends, in both games) have been played and analyzed so far to compare SC2:BW to SC:BW in total?
Enjoy the game

games played? not sure, i updated the map at the beginning of the week on EU and then did a minor patch to undo it a day or two before hand. i dont have any testers other than myself and anyone who decides to post feedback. this weekly tournament has been the BEST source of information so far.

my findings with the previous settings were 1 worker to 1 mineral patch = identical to BW.
but 12 or more and the mining rate got WAY out of control. i was like 1k short on minerals in only a few minutes time.

i've looked at it again and found more favorable settings.
the previous values i had were
probes - 2.25 acceleration
drones - 1.75 acceleration
SCV - 1.25 acceleration.

my NEW values are. 2.25, 2.0, 1.75.
i've also added a 0.5 second delay where the worker will stop at the CC/Nexus/Hatchery before returning to the mineral patch.

with these new settings and following.
http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=83287
as a guide (aswell as BW)
these settings are almost perfect. im out by a maximum of 100-200 minerals by the 5 minute mark on all races.

im still looking at SCVs however. right now workers are immune to the pathing difficulties that other units suffer from. which is i think why they are so strong. unfortunately it's not so easy to apply this handicap to workers and NOT have it affect them while mining. but i will find a way.

im sorry you wern't notified before the tournament, i will do better next time and announce any changes before hand.

nah hes making sure i compared my findings against BW to ensure they are accurate (instead of relying on an article someone wrote years ago).

nah hes making sure i compared my findings against BW to ensure they are accurate (instead of relying on an article someone wrote years ago).

Ah, that wasn't very obvious

IMHO it's needed at least 2+ players of high BW/SC2 level, that have played competitively BW recently to test thoroughly and patiently how does SC2:BW compare to SC:BW. This would include playing a lot of games and trying out many, many stuff in both games, so the lots of free time required here will probably be the main issue.
I will probably have time to join and test some stuff super rarely in the next 2-3 weeks, and probably more after that. If I'm at least not uneager to do it, that is. And after these two tournaments, i'm rather frustrated and very demotivated.
Enjoy the game

I think the point more than anything was for it to just be a fun mod, rather than what you're looking at. I mean, he's doing this in his free time...

Next tournament will be in 2 weeks when I think HotS beta will be offline before the launch of the game.

Ok, I'm really going to try and make it this time. Not that I have any potential of winning. But I'll show you all what a former C rank Zerg can do that hasn't played a single game of BW since the SC2 beta release with the exception of a few occasional games of SC2BW!!

LaLush, play this when you stream the tournament: http://classic.battle.net/window.shtml

and I think you and Mithras should cast again, the laid-back style suits the tournament.

Ohhh... TSL Value! Fighting Tho i have no idea how good he is. Maybe he would've been even matched to MorroW? No idea haha.

edit: nvm, he must've lost already. think the bracket isn't updated.

Arthur is playin pretty well right now.

.. but we waited too long and made some other critical mistakes =/ That said, Diestar is playing much better than i thought he would.

It looked pretty strong, but he didn't attack early enough... he basically was 2 base vs 5 base and still waited for a long long time.

Thanks for the tournament again

I get this feeling as well, but I also saw it get a lurker down to minimal health so it seemed about right. It's hard to tell what the actual radius is.

Can someone post a link to the bracket? I haven't been able to find it any of the 3 weeks which is quite frustrating.

Storm area is a bit hard to judge at first. You need some experience for it. They do seem small in sc2bw, but that is most likely due to the zoomed out view compared to BW. Also a lot easier to dodge them when you have unlimited selection, as was what they agreed on for the final.

I was thinking the same thing about storm. I could have sworn I saw almost two full storms land on a lurker and not kill it, on multiple occasions. Someone was talking about storm damage in the SC2BW thread as well. It would certainly be worth it to make sure it at least deals the right damage to the right units though.

Also think the 3D view is really deceptive in this case. I've found myself surprised about some storms not hitting as well (when they looked like they did).

storm used to do it's damage too slowly, it does the correct amount. in the latest patch i decreased the damage tick interval from .8xxx to 0.5xxx which should be accurate. i'll watch the replays tonight and see.

no, it was accurate and two storms did absolutely kill a lurker in that game. many storms were fairly misplaced and others were good but diestar moved out of them. few others were good and actually did a lot of damage.

I will update brackets when I receive semifinal replays from Diestar.

But for those who are interested in results from missing matches:

Diestar vs. TSLValue: 2-1
Diestar vs. Arthur: 3-2

Sorry for the delay! I missed the SC2BW W. #3! Nice to see my countrymen win!

Also while there was no MorroW, pros were in top4 and - on the other hand - only 9 people playing

Wow, I thought now that Arthur is on WW, he'd stop playing SC2BW. Great to see him registered!
Glad to see other Korean SC2 pros signed up, as well~ I hope this gets big! Koreans need to spread the word :D

We should get the SC2BW stuff translated into Korean. Start with the tournament information/rules. Then have someone post on PlayXP.

That was overblown. While the picture below and the text on liquipedia might have held true for a mineral node placed as close as possible and straightly adjacent to a main building, in practice Protoss doesn't mine at 118% the rate of terran in Brood War.

MavercK measured it in BW and Terran did not mine as slowly as the liquipedia article would have you believe. My theory as to why is that workers usually don't move in a straight line, nor in the most effective path from mineral node to the main building. The increased travelling path evens out the discrepancies in income rates. They are not as great as the liquipedia article would have you believe (because all mineral patches are not as close nor as straightly aligned with the main building as in the exampel provided).

MavercK still made some change to the SCVs, but not one that drastically affected Terran's income rate.

Good to see a money split and not all to the winner Makes it a lot better imo, although not for MorroW (someone get a KesPA player to this haha)

Also, I do not know if MavercK has changed this since a while back, but the implementation he uses for the high ground advantage is glitchy. For example, if a low siege tank is aiming at a high goliath. Whenever it calculates a "miss", the siege tank just sets its damage to 0 for the next attack. This is bad, because if the goliath is killed by something else within the shot cooldown of the siege tank, the siege tank will miss its next target even if its next target is on the same plane and even if its next shot is long after its cooldown.

Instead of making the attacker deal no damage, try making the targeted receive no damage.

OK, VODs will be up by tomorrow sometime. By the way would anyone be interested in going through and helping me cut the VODs each week?

For the moment yes, because of the new models of BW units that came with HOTS.
MavercK might be making it work on WoL soon.

According to the number of replays I have, MorroW 3-0'd

I won't be hosting any further open tours of SC2BW. Sorry guys. The interest has been low (which isn't a major problem per se, since some players of real good quality have participated to make up for it). With dwindling numbers for each tour I don't think this is the right format anymore.

I might host a showmatch or smaller invite tour. Nothing is planned out yet though.

Thanks to everyone who showed an interest and participated.

What struck me the most was that every single progamer who participated genuinely thought that it was fun. So much so in fact that they pretty much all actively asked me to notify them of future tournaments.

Even the koreans (Arthur, Tails, Value). They all stuck around and chatted about SC2BW. Immediately upon the conclusion of tours I would get the question "When is next?". Same goes for Beasty, diestar, morrow and others.

I have no doubt in my mind that if everybody were to try this out with an open mind they would prefer SC2BW over SC2. But unfortunately I have been unsuccesful in promoting and attracting the masses to try it out. I tried. But couldn't quite seem to get through to people.

Sad to see that.

Do you know why some players didn't participate in subsequent events?

Beastyqt didn't play in 4th
DieStar - only 3rd
TechnicS - only 1st and 2nd (although I have an impression that he didn't like that it wasn't exactly SC:BW)

And - secondly - did you ask these few progamers that actually did participate about how they think SC2BW could be more popular?

Yes, sad to see There were really good games. But I can understand that there are no further open tours.

This mod addresses so much things I wish SC2 would change.
