You should consider that Dreamhack is a LAN event first and a tournament second. Due to everyone is gaming they won't have a big audience until the later stages of the tournaments.

they don't even need to have crowd shots, just player cameras like every other tournament has. maybe do some interviews post match and bring them to the casting desk, anything to make it not feel so impersonal.

the only people I've seen on stream all weekend has been the casters. I thought the problem of making the casters the stars instead of the players was recognized and trying to be fixed, this just makes it worse.

for new viewers, they tune into this tournament and on their screen they see incontrol and apollo, they won't know what the players in this tournament even look like other than the top 4 because they never show them.

anyone who wins a tourney or beats a korean is godly in sc2. then when randoms beat these players, everyones known them for months and how godly they are. then when these randoms cant make it out of groups or first round of most tourneys the players who beat them are godly. consistant results means nothing in sc2.

consistant results is something almost unheard of in sc2

sick drop Kasaraki

How about winning 3 GSLs,MLG,Blizzcon,WCG in 2011 and 1GSL,2nd place GSL,IEM. That's consistent if you ask me.

I think that was the point, almost no players have those kind of consistent results.

That's what's making me stop watching SC2 recently. While GSL S4 was one of my favourite season of GSL ever, the most balanced racially and the one with the most stacked RO8 (considering the players tearing it up at that time), S5 has been just royally boring to me (despite some great games) just because there is no consistency anymore.

Some players are destroying everybody during one month and then fall to code B (and I wasn't even a huge fan of Rain, nor Taeja). And what I really dislike lately is that it feels to me that it is because the match ups are more random than ever. Some players are supposed to dominate, and dominate hard for this game to have credibility as a RTS because skill need to be properly rewarded. Now it just seems that everybody can beat everybody.

I really didn't have this feeling before. I think that in the actual state of the game, there maybe cannot be any stable metagame in place, because there is too much volatility in every MU.

Starcraft 2 players are still not very good, they have a lot to improve on, in bw it took years for this to happen where the strongest players always win, Starcraft 2 is still in it's infancy and won't be any where near a perfect game until all the expansions have been released and the game will have a final balance.

Show starts in 50 minutes and the games 30 minutes after that. Big arena with a big crowd. Get hyped.
