Sure a lot of Prime fans out there. I think this is quite the even match-up, IPL TL had Prime winning 5-4, and it was close most of the time. I hope TSL learned from their mistakes and have better decisions in choosing players, or at least have HyuN not derp so much.

TSL 5-3 if things go to the best
Prime seems to have the highest fan/player ratio :p
Prime is on the rise again. In the last two months the whole team seemed to be in a slump aside from Creator. But if you look at the recent performances of Marineking, Maru and BBoongBBoong, you'll see all of them back on track again. The games @ IPTL might be several weeks old and Prime's players are getting back to form since then. I think Prime has best chances to take this season of GSTL, and TSL will only be the first stepping stone. But of course they have to be careful not to fall right at the beginning. TSL is a strong team, but I see Prime winning this. If they eliminate Antiga Shipyard before they send out Creator (one big mistake they made @ the IPTL match, where Polt was able to pick a TvP on Antiga to beat Creator), then there shouldn't be any problems!

too bad polt actually has a negative record against mkp ;p also, i will agree that prime are not huge favourites, maybe slightly favoured only
We might see more cheese-fests between the two like last time. Though I think the advantage goes to Polt if it becomes a Marine/Tank battle, or at least equal in terms of strategic positioning and Bio mobility tactics.

I don't think MKP will be of any use to his team, after yesterday's beatdown. He must be broken mentally. :p It all comes down to Creator. I think TSL will take it.
I want TSL to win and I think the chance is about 50:50. Polt has been really solid recently, Symbol hasn't impressed, but he's still dangerous, Shine and Hyun are damn strong... ... on the other hand, Maru looked awesome against Effort, same thing goes to Creator. Could be a very interesting series.
Creator and Byun are very iffy on when they'll play awesome and when they won't. MKP is still broken mentally from his ro8 loss to life though, so I'm picking TSL to take this.

IPTL isn't live. It's played from replays and I bet it was probably played a few days ago maybe?
Although TSL being Zerg heavy and MKP not being able to show his TvZ means he won't do too well.

I'm not talking about IPTL, I'm talking about GSL.
Going to have to go with TSL on this one after seeing Prime's disappointing loss against ST. Not to mention with TSL's strong players who has been on fire lately, polt, symbol and not to mention hyun the beast from fight club.

Results? Creator has won 2 major tournaments and has been a consistent force to be reckoned with ever since he gave MVP a run for his money during the super tournament last year. Maru has been up and down even though he's got a massive amount of potential and hyun has been struggling to even make it into code S, let alone stay there for a longer period of time. I'd say it's pretty obvious why Creator is favored.

doesnt he do it all the time on ohana though?
nope, quite rarely, infact not alot of protosses do it surprisingly considering the map

I'd rather watch a greedy zerg get punished for cutting too many corners by a well executed timing then watching bludlud impestor make a game out of something that should have been a lost cause 5-10 mins ago.

It's next level mindgames, protoss do it all the time on ohana so it becomes too obvious, so then they don't do it and hyun knew that so he cut way too many corners, which creator expected so he did it anyways!
This particular game, unlike other Immortal/sentry all-in games, was completely the Zerg's fault for losing. Usually Zergs know it's coming and can't stop it, but this time Hyun completely misread Creator and went for way too greedy a build against the usually macro oriented Creator.

O.o Creator won WCS Korea and Tsl 4.
I chose my words poorly, I meant to say he played a nice game against Creator but unlike Plot, Marineking is a Terran who has won tournaments so he was not able to beat him in a mirror matchup.

Recently we see players do these early pressures and then not scout afterwards. :/

He could had held that with his own bio units here. Just had to don't take the slow banes in stimed marines :/ ( i guess he was micro'ing the litlle bio faction on the right ), hit and run them to death, then pull SCV when all banes are dead, then with upgrades advantage and 3rd CC he just win even if he loose like 20 scv....
In fact with his wall non-lifted and his stim timing, he could had held that easy. Btw addons placement are really an issue :/

Dear Wolf. You cannot drop marines from a medivac that is fungalled, unless they are already dropping when it happens. Like wise you cannot stop a drop if you get fungalled while it is under way. Am i wrong?

I think you're wrong on the first part and correct on the second part.
Why didn't Byun make the starports for the blord transition when he was maxed with like a 2k bank? He must have anticipated it... this might be the death of him.

ravens do not help vs infestors or ultras.
ravens are good in pure airfights if the zerg ONLY has corruptor broodlord.

It wasn't about the number of Broods left. It was just that you need a ground army to support your Vikings, and the Infested Terrans forced Byun back.
If Byun had gone for Thors and possibly even Ravens, it would have allowed him to tank a lot more damage and deal with the Infestors and Infested Terrans better allowing Byun's Vikings to stay in battle to kill off the Brood Lords.
On October 05 2012 21:17 X3GoldDot wrote: this is what happens when terrans dont change their style and never use ravens........ravens are so cost efficient i wonder why not......
Ravens are awful against a competent player using infestors, there is nothing you can do against them, fungal shuts them down so hard and corrupters slaughter them.
On October 05 2012 21:18 HaXXspetten wrote: Byun threw that pretty hard, I mean really, >30 vikings? How 'bout replacing half with 2 thors and the rest bio lol
glad Symbol won though
Because bio would of done loads against mass Infestor and Queen, right?
There is no absolutely reason to watch 32 vikings with 2/1 upgrades lose against a handful of units and say oh should of made Marauders.
If he went Ravens, he wouldn't have had enough anti air to hold off the initial push. They take too long to build and too long to get enough energy. He didn't have the economy to be adding lots of thors as well. He could have started adding ravens after holding the initial push, but that would have given Symbol so much time to prepare for them.
I think 4 supply broodlord just allow too many supporting units, which is in completely contrast to the Ultra. Thus, ultralisk combo feels more manageable while BL combo just feels overwhelming. >.< Regardless epic game! Gg symbol!
Sad about the ending but at least we had a pretty good game to end it all in a game 9 :/ Prime just cant seem to put it together in team leagues like they did when they won the triple crown

ghosts can EMP too, its a matter of getting to an insanely expensive unbeatable raven thor viking ghost army which is pretty much almost impossible to do.

Taeja was probably lucky to win the series if Leenock didn't try some strange double Roach Warren build in the middle of a ro8 finals.

In my opinion if Life had gone against a more cerebral player of the same caliber he would have had a tougher time, and probably would have lost.
Despite Taeja saying that ghost would be useless against an ultra transition, I still think 2-3 well placed nukes around the slow brood army to destroy them, then preemptively transitioning into marauders right as the ultras start getting build can counter the transition. And considering Terran will already have a few tech labs on barracks for ghosts, transitioning marauder shouldn't be too hard.
Reason you will always hear "The Terran was better" is because they managed to stay at the top despite not getting a single buff and only nerfs since launch.
Same reason why terms like Patch Zergs exist with no equivalent for T.
Ghost = glass cannons that need be in the front lines = not good if your opponent has detection.
The reason ghosts were viable with snipe was that they can actually snipe BLs from a distance and have tanks/marines protect them. If they are used just for anti-infestor, they basically need to run up and hope they get there EMP's off before they get killed by broodlings. And like Taeja pointed out, if you get a lot of ghosts to make sure you get EMPs off, an Ultra transition will kill you.
I know a lot of us like to theorycraft how 3-4 ghosts can EMP the entire infestor/Queen ball and the terran can a-move their army to win. But seeing so few top pros use them probably means it is just not effective OR it is so difficult to pull off that they would take their chances with vikings. And if top koreans like Taeja, Byun, Mvp, MKP have problems using it, it is probably pretty damn difficult.

you need two ghosts and two ghost academies in order to use nukes, it's not a "lol are you trolling???" question, it won't destroy your chances against ultra transitions. just because taeja answered with a oneliner about a specific situation doesn't invalidate the idea

This isn't true and your argument is stupid. T was horribly op so they got nerfed. Just because the Terrans that had success when the game was unbalanced doesn't mean they are better to still be around when it is.

This is very frustrating. When Mvp and Taeja won in the late game (dealing fine with infestor/Brood) all I read was how good they were. Now Symbol doesn't get the same credit because all the Terrans want to balance whine to make excuses for their own bad play. So sad
Leenock destroyed Taeja, did you not watch Cloud Kingdom?
Taeja was probably lucky to win the series if Leenock didn't try some strange double Roach Warren build in the middle of a ro8 finals.
Didn't watch game four?
Irrelevant, the scenario's were different. Try again.
The scenarios are different in every game. When the games went late they both had success/

This isn't true and your argument is stupid. T was horribly op so they got nerfed. Just because the Terrans that had success when the game was unbalanced doesn't mean they are better to still be around when it is.

you need two ghosts and two ghost academies in order to use nukes, it's not a "lol are you trolling???" question, it won't destroy your chances against ultra transitions. just because taeja answered with a oneliner about a specific situation doesn't invalidate the idea
Well it does make Ghosts pointless, what are you meant to do with them once Ultralisks are out when it takes 22 snipes to kill 1 Ultralisk?
My solution personally would be removing the Transfuse spell, it's complete utter bs running around with 6 queens with Full energy

When Leenock destroyed Taeja in game 1, (if I recalled correctly) Taeja had a significant supply advantage and did not make any noticeable mis-micro, with Taeja saying he didn't think he made any major mistake in that engagement.
When Taeja won game 4, Leenock had Taeja in a choke, and then donated ultras which allowed Taeja to walk under the BL army to destory him.

I disagree about just because the pros aren't using ghosts, they aren't viable. The game evolves over time. A few months ago we never saw any hellion banshee openings, but now they are almost standard in tvz. Mind you neither unit was buffed recently, the meta game just changed. I think if pros used their ghosts more wisely, we could see a counter to Bl/infester. Look at the way some Protoss use their HT, they transport then around in warp prisms, keep them isolated from their main army for storm flanks etc. These type of tactics would be even easier to pull off because ghosts can cloak. Now look at how successful the Protoss are doing in Korea lately. Terran need to start thinking of new tactics.

Because Terrans back in the beginning all got "Omg OP IMBA NERF" and they've been nerfed into the ground. The other two races have had dozens of buffs.

Anyway, I really don't understand sometimes, people complain about imbalance because of Symbol won with lategame, while he has been completely dominated in the same match up just few days ago ago by MVP, the only game he won was an all in.
Symbol is an amazing player, he should get credit for how he plays instead of bashing the balance of the game.

Lol, do you realize that shift in meta you mentioned was due to the buff for queens... Which made any non all in pressure from Terran such as bio, bio/hellion not work... If you nerfing queens back again, you will see more hellion contains and bio pushes.
And you warp prism example doesn't work because of creep, which the Zerg hardly ever goes off of until they have killed the Terran army. You can blind side terrans with prism HT, much harder with drop ship ghosts. Plus terrans don't have a spell that can insta land and hold a prism in place.

You obviously know a lot about the game... I wasn't talking about that patch.

Raven: Seeker missile movement speed increased from 2.5 to 2.953.
But OMG, Terran has only been nerfed.

The game has been out for almost 3 years. I made it very specific what buff I was talking about, I said seeker missile speed. It was in response to a post whining about lategame, and claiming Terran had only received nerfs. When MVP was destroying Broodlords with Ravens not too long ago at IEM, I bet he wasn't complaining that seeker missiles were buffed to be faster.

Which goes to show that Banshee hellion would have been even more viable before the queen buff, people weren't just doing it yet. Sorry but If people refuse to have more than 1 hot key for their army and split a few ghosts up for flanks when they already have cloak, then that's their own fault. You mentioned it's "much harder to use drop ships than warp prism" yes I'll give you that, but it's not impossible and certainly viable.

Not really. The reason banshee hellion is good now is because the Zerg meta is just building queens for defense. So hellion banshee is design to counter that. If queens all go to defend vs banshee, hellions run in. If queens get aggressive and go off creep, banshee could snipe them. However, the meta pre queen buff was more building spines and lings for hellion defense. And queens never chased hellions off creep since they would kited even on creep. If Zerg has spines and lings, they are perfectly fine with hellion banshee.
It is similar to how roach bane ling all ins seems to be more effective now even with no direct buffs. But many terrans builds go 3CC, thus make roach bane that much stronger.
As for viable, it is impossible to prove since no one seems to be able to do it at the top level. Maybe the top terrans have been practicing with it but haven't gotten comfortable enough with it yet. I am sure progamers of all races are trying out new things in practice, but unless they can refine it enough to be effective, they don't use it in important matches. Things like Mvp mech vs zerg has probably been in the works for a couple months. And might not even be by Mvp himself. Maybe IM terrans saw another Terran going mech and just tried to fine tune it.

1) Game has barely been out two years actually.
2) Point out 1 buff out the tons of nerfs, especially a buff that really had no change on the meta whatsoever. Really great idea.
3) When MVP was destroying Brood Lords with Ravens it was on a very specific map in a very specific situation. Metropolis is the only map where you can do this because you can split it in half and use defensive planetaries. Besides, proper splitting mitigates this.

the queen buff did nothing ... seriously almost all the major metagame shifts in WoL have been due to up/nerfs. People didn't misteriously discovered that infestors were good, they buff it... The mass ghost style or bfh openings were a rather cool exception but was nerf to death... then you've smaller changes that can make a style viable (multiple banshees for mech) often related to a bigger change.

Agreed. The hellion banshee into mech is a counter to the queen -->ling/bling --> infestor--> broodlord zerg meta right now. It actually has a tough time against early muta builds since the terrans needs time to get Thors out. That is why Taeja was afraid of using it vs Leenock.
I am referring to going mutas before you can confirm mech. The mech build CAN deal with reactive muta builds since Thors/turrets will be up in time.
I don't really see how terran can hoep to kill the bls/queen/infestor composition without ghosts. If I remember the lategame zerg was essentially making infestor/bls/corrupors and go with your queen. Now the zergs makes queen before hive, so they end up with ~10 queen with their push instead of 4-5. If they are full mana, it's 4000hp worth of healing (8 ultras ). If the zerg don't screw up by engaging in a concave, I don't think you can reasonably hope to kill a good chunk of the death ball.
I bet that when the other zerg will catch up to the way leenock makes his bl pushes, you will see terrans try to EMP or snipe queens.

In order for ghosts to get in range with the queens/infestors without broodlings/your own tanks hitting them, you need to kill the detection first. If the zerg has more than 1 overseer in the army, that can be hard to do.
