no, that's just extreme arrogance on his part
squirtle apparently doesn't know that ret isnt just some random foreigner chobo
im not talking about whether or not he was arrogant? im just saying if carriers dont win it doesnt mean they arent good.
However, if carriers never win (except for maybe when you already have a substantial lead), it does mean that they aren't good.
and yet every protoss who knows 5x more about the game than any of us still go for it every late game.
Uh, what are you talking about? Hardly anyone goes carriers.
yeah because they are such a super super late game unit, but when it gets to that point (which is very rare) carrier is the only unit they go for.
I've seen it happen, but it's still rare even in super late game. It only works when 8 carriers suddenly show up when the zerg doesn't see it coming and doesn't make enough corruptors and infestors. Something that relies so heavily on the element of surprise isn't what I'd call a viable option.

It's funny actually :p ever since blizzard said they were scrapping the carrier more pros have started using it. They must have their uses after all
yeah lol, carriers are the only viable option against a huge maxed upgraded super late game 30minute + zerg army, when they get removed, idk what will happen
That new T3 protoss siege air unit will probably be good against clumped up corruptors and brood lords, who knows.
Do they still do splash? I thought they removed it in favour of the new range. Or at least nerfed the splash.
That's correct. It no longer does splash and can be upgraded to range 22 from the fleet beacon.
It's a pretty stupid unit though, the best use I found for it while playing the beta at MLG was mineral harass using an obs to spot for them. I don't imagine it'll be at all like it is now when HotS comes out. The DPS it adds to an actual army is pathetic, especially considering the cost.

you obviously dont watch much sc2 at all then.
and it in no way relies on surprise, they are the strongest army in the MU when you get maxed on them.

I can probably name around 15 games off the top of my head where Protoss goes carriers in PvZ. Protoss wins about half of them, which is pretty fair =P.

That's a fallacy.
For instance, blue flame hellions with insane damage were available from the beta but they saw little use until terran finally moved passed scv rushes. Emp and ghosts are another example of a unit that was obviously good but adopted later on.
That period of time about 6 month ago where zergs somehow got it in their mind that the pheonix buff meant no mutas.... and were promptly shown to be completely neurotic as mutas dominated.
I would expect MC to have a hunch or a good theory about something but going carriers does not communicate the level to which they believe in this style or the logic behind their decision necessarily.
We've seen Tosses repeatly get massacred in pro games switching into carriers after some gorgeous multipronged harass. Pure carriers doesn't look convincing though the pros probably had some success in practice games.
; DTs... being sc2 dts. Don't like that spire position... it's gonna get sniped.
edit: Gronk if it wouldnt be too much of a pain could you name one that best shows how that style should be executed? ofc games on and such so tots understand if thats too much of a pain <<
