so I was originally going to make the thread for kt vs stx in the sc2 section tonight, but I've been awake for many hours and don't trust myself to not fall asleep and then it wouldn't get updated. so if someone else can do it that would be great.
For some reason, Sayle's voice is just...reminiscent of that of a lot of other people (also gamers). I can't name names, but for some reason Sayle just sounds like a lot of other people, it's just this characteristic...characteristic I don't know what... but it sounds familiar cool caster and steamer of course ^^
Alright, SC2 here we come! Didn't even need the heavies for BW :3

orb
YEAH orb was one person on my mind (couldn't come up with anybody else), but I was afraid to say so in case nobody else thought so ><;;
You know, I just noticed something. On the Kespa SC2 maps, it doesn't show the hotkeys. In the GSL when they click on a player's units or buildings, it shows the hotkey setup in small tabs at the bottom, just like when you're playing, but they must have removed that feature somehow. I never noticed it until now.

it's the same feature as streamers sometimes turn off. it's the remove the hotkeys option thing.

You can hide it in the options. I think OGN/KeSPA have enabled it to stop people from seeing the player's hotkeys to figure out the Barcode players on KR. I might be wrong on this assumption though.

Some have been playing for months (particularly players such as Motive and likely that Kop guy) - others seem to only have really started practicing it since the last PL ended. It looks like Bisu is in that latter category.

Of course he is, since his team made it to the grand final which occurred not too long ago.

I would attribute Flash's improvement to Terran's design in SC2 being pretty similar to that in BW (moreso than P and Z). Jaedong has had more time to practice SC2 so I guess he gets things better by now.
they really need to let these guys focus on one game.. they are going to lose confidence in themselves so fast. part of what makes a great player great is confidence... getting steamrolled on live television over and over because you haven't been able to practice enough is probably embarassing and extremely disheartening.

I feel its cause hes protoss. Terran and Zerg seems to require more mechanics so the improvement looks more noticeable compared to Protoss which doesnt really need "good" mechanics. Not sure, thats just imo.

Now with Cezanne on T8 I'm particularly looking forward to watching more Jaedong games. I wonder how well the BW coaches are doing in adapting to SC2.

Not really. BW Terran gets progressively stronger and more difficult to break as the game progresses. SC2 Terran thrives in the early and midgame, but come lategame, Z and especially P are at an advantage if little to no pressure is applied. Flash's style would actually suit SC2 Protoss more, as he likes to macro and turtle and win in the lategame. Bisu's style would be more akin to that of SC2 Terran since it's the most micro-intensive race and would take advantage of his incredible multitasking.
fantasy will win this easily. stork is definitely not enthusiastic for sc2 at all, while fantasy has been having the mentality to continue being the best progamer.

This is a great point, once you lose confidence in yourself it leads to second guessing the decisions you make, etc. It is important that these great players can continue to maintain the confidence they have in BW.
Elo is just based on a formula, I think? Sure Kespa ranking is "official" but it's a bit less representative of instantaneous player skill or whatever I think.
On June 03 2012 16:21 -TesteR- wrote: sad this doesn't get nearly as much attention as gsl
Well, it's not really worth the time to watch them play as of their current skill level. Even I feel like I'm wasting my time sometimes. Just that I'm too lazy to do study for my exams. When they fully switch then yeah it would be great.
The lack of additional bunkers after that pressure surprised me, surely fantasy should have known a counter attack was almost guaranteed after the 3rax pressure worked out really well, I suppose he thought the DTs were the counter attack and thought he could get away with it I dunno.
You pressure a guy going DTs with 2 stalkers out of position, and manage to get up his ramp and you don't continue pushing towards the probes or at least bunker on top of the ramp?
Then somehow or rather even with a delayed Nexus + DTs, you can still win with a gateway counter attack?
You know, from what I've observed Flash and Jaedong are the only two in TBLS who are making a concerted effort to improve in SC2. That or they're just that damn talented.
On June 03 2012 16:31 cablesc wrote: The funny thing is that if Fantasy went up into the main instead of taking out the nat he would have just insta-won.
Yep, fantasy could of won there and even without that he was still in the lead.
I guess the last game between Fantasy and Stork shows how they lack the SC2 experience. Any experienced SC2 player would have gone into the main base instead of denying the expo.
I wonder how much Team 8 performance and decision making will improve with signing Cezanne as a consultant/coach, because in such situations experience and long term game knowledge will help a lot.
On June 03 2012 16:40 KingofGods wrote: Toss continue to dominate SPL. I wonder why that is? (not being sarcastic)
Much easier to execute timing attacks. Timing attacks are scary especially to new players. See MC's retarded 2 base 11 sentry shit ton of zealot/stalker timings vs terran back in november 2010.
Just in case anyone doubts that the Kespa pros are really at the very early stages of understanding SC2, GSL Open Season 1 is free to watch for anyone (I think all three open seasons are free, actually).
On June 03 2012 16:07 rebdomine wrote: meh, SC2 specialist
I'm an NA masters terran and I could have beat bisu that game. Just no scouting at all and a really risky build. Basically any terran can and often will execute that standard timing. Bisu kind of needed to delay with forcefields at the ramps, but his build really should never work out except against some kind of 3 orbital play.
that last game was wtfffffffff, also every game with dts the toss won ahahahah, also for anyone who isnt watching, sayle commentary has been quite good imo

Agreed, thanks very much Sayle
These games are definitely nostalgia trips. To be fair, the play IS better than GSL season 1. And the TvP issue is exacerbated by the large map sizes. Imagine if they included Steppes of War or Lost Temple - I'm pretty sure T winrate would skyrocket.
