MVP himself claimed that an endgame 200/200 army with BCs and Ghosts is unbeateable in TvP (but then again he lost to Squirtle with that, arguably a mistake in control though).

MMMVG is the only answer till HoTs till shredders come out and give back terran "spider mines" like board control.
The shredder was removed in a semi recent HoTS update.

He also lost to it with 30 supply of Squirtles army sitting on an island doing nothing still because it hadnt been ferried back yet.

Honestly the Thors are fine, they do plenty good with the right support.
Unfortunately players basically exclusively use Thors in TvP for mid game timing pushes where it's basically Thors + scvs + marines. Almost entirely countered by high templars.
At the end of the day, regardless of the terran composition (mech or bio), ghosts are almost essential to counter high templars. The main issue is just ghost control, it's lacking whilst HT control has become refined by many protoss players. Even Lynna's TvP mech guide uses ghosts past a certain point.

If sitting Vikings on top of Archons is seriously "pro terran play" nowadays then no wonder people keep dying to Protoss. Here's a tip: don't do it and you won't lose them all instantly.
