Lemme think here. His job is to cast a game made by blizzard. Company he works at does a giveaway of another game by blizzard. I don't think he's gonna say "well the game is terrible so dont buy it kk"

TL;DR Medivacs heal 3 HP every time they cast the heal ability on a unit. They do this about 3 times a second. Over the course of 2 fungals, a medivacs will heal a unit about 24 times. A marine with combat shield only needs to be healed twice (6 HP) for it to survive 2 fungals with 1 hp remaining. That equates to one medivac per 12 marines, a reasonable number. So having combat shield will most likely save a marine from a two-fungal death if medivacs are involved.
Medivacs heal 9 hp/sec. Fungals do 30 damage over 4 secs. Marines have 45 health w/o combat and 55 with.
An issue arises in that medivacs heal 9 hp/sec focusing a single marine, but they spread out their healing over the army. They do heal 3 hp every 'heal', so lets assume the marines getting healed for 3 hp/3 sec or 1 hp/sec since thats about the time it takes for a medivac to heal all the other marines.
Without combat shield: Marine gets fungaled, takes 30 damage, gets healed for 4 hp. Has 19 Health Remaining. Gets fungaled again, dies.
With combat shield: Marines gets fungaled, takes 30 damage, gets healed for 4 hp. Has 29 Health remaining. Gets fungaled again,Has 3 health remaining, thats an extra fungal.
Obviously some crude math with the medivac healing rate, but the medivac would only have to heal the marine twice within the 8 seconds ( Each heal is 3 HP) to live with 1 life with combat shield.
Honestly, medivacs do not split up their healing automatically. They pick the lowest bio unit and start healing until full. Repeat until out of energy or targets. Sometimes it seems like they split, because they are grouped with stutter stepping bio, where they heal, get a move command and then pick a new target. Yet watch them in a fungal situation.. each medivac saves one marine if left alone.
So unless you factor in medivac micro and other dmg, combat shield does not influece the number of fungals needed to kill marines.
Oops, you're right. I'm still going with 3 fungals because, lets be honest with each other, who DOESNT micro their medivac healing? ^_^
Counterquestion: Who does?
But I will conceed: WIth combat shield, each medivac microed perfectly can save 12 marines, leaving them with 1 hp each. Without combat shield only 4 marines are saved with 3 each.

Byun actually has his medivacs on a different hotkey to do just this.
