I've never seen someone rushing for battlecruisers, only transitioning into them.
Yup, BC's were usually the lateLATE game, after both players already lost the majority of their "first" 200/200 army.
wrong. sky terran was quite common some time ago
Replay/VOD sources plz.
I remember multiple games in MLGs last year, in particular TvT, where sky Terran was used.
It was never common, it just happened once in a while. Often happened end game, when neither player could break each other. It definitely was never common as the main strategy/build the way Maru used, as Wolf pointed out. You would see a 1 base BC all in sometimes, but rarely on pro level.

subconscious jealousy. it makes people feel uncomfortable to see someone younger than them being so successful

Oh no, I don\t think remember seeing people go air off the bat. I know there\s a Raven build that's viable v Zerg, but nothing like this.

What you don't get is that when you go mech you don't have the infrastructure to make a lot of marines. And you don't have the money nor the building space to get that infrastructure either.
what he also doesn't get is that unupgraded marines dps is terrible vs upgraded bcs

seeker missiles do too much damage and actually RUN FASTER than vikings and once launched its actually impossible for the viking to avoid it and it does massive damage in a aoe to all the clumped air
the seeker missiles didnt have an effect on that game and maru woulda won regarldess, but we saw how retarded that is.1spellcasted kills like 10 vikings a piece. just too good
the real imba of seeker missile is once terrans start getting it against zerg trust me its going to be BRUTAL. seeker missiles are like stronger versions of storm and outrun corrupters/broodlords and are undodgable
split the targeted viking away from the rest, you do it with irradiate in sc1 so why not here?
it's much harder to see which viking is targeted. There is a small line that shows it, but it's really hard to find out in a big clump. Irradiate was such a big animation, it was so easy to see, but seeker missle is a whole different story in that regard. So generally splitting up radomly might be the best reaction to Seeker Missle.

but he could've split though yeah? i mean its just like fungal? if you split against it its fine? and it has such a short cast range you can snipe it before it gets casted
Not to mention the seeker missile AOE is actually terrible and the damage drops very fast within the AOE. Unlike storm and fungal, which do 100% damage within the entire AOE.
I want to add that it is very possible to split Vikings while the Seeker Missile is already flying . ( and also the smarter choice since the Seeker Missile will allways hit its target if its a Viking ) The AOE isn't hat big just pick a few Vikings and move them apart then the next etc etc. If you fly away with everything you risk get hit with everything.
I'm not a very good player but i can split Vikings against Seekers reasonably well.

People hated flash too when he cheesed out Bisu. Don't worry about it :p
Just got back from my run to see Bomber and aLive 0-2 (((((((((((((( TT. Really happy for Curious and I'll be excited to take a look at his games when the VODs are up, were Bomber/aLive's matches even close or were they 1 sided?
On May 22 2012 19:47 dainbramage wrote: Why not pick out the targeted viking a la mutas vs irradiate?
Just a weakness on aLive's part, it's pretty common for other players to split things up on the rare occasions where seeker missiles really get involved.
try to go into a unit tester and micro clumped vikings vs seeker missile its pretty impossible and just stupid. no spell should be that strong is really is an imbalance but thank god terrans havent discovered it yet against zerg.. protoss however destroys HSM with feedback
It's not pretty impossible at all lol, it's more than reasonable and anyone at a pro level should 100% be doing it.
The only reason that fucked aLive was because he tried to just outrun it and he ran out of map space which clumped his vikings in the corner right in time to get hit. Seeker missile is such a slow projectile that the first time it got launched it didn't even connect to the vikings just running away lol.
Seriously, that's probably going to be one of the only times you'll watch someone try to just straight up run away from seeker missile and fail like that.

Undogable by slow units - yes. But you dont need to dodge, just track that one unit that is followed by the missile and pull it away from main army or even better towards enemey's army.. that's the micro against it.. So, not that imba, not more imba than fungal thats for sure..

Absolutely. I saw an amazing TvT between BratOK and Lucifron that went over an hour. Both went mass raven, marines, viking and a mix of marine, tank, and thors. Both had amazing unit spliting against seeker missile on Antiga, eventually Lucifron mined out half the map and BratOK had better splits, even though he mined less, he was much more cost effective and Lucifron had to tap out. Pretty sick game.

Thorzain won a game by going straight air terran against mech when he played in GSTL iirc, he didnt use seeker missile though.
