This was a nice variation from Symbol tho The problem is partially that protoss is spread out too thinnly with three bases. At that point of time, your army is inferior to the zerg. point. so you need to engage favourably against him. However that is not possible if you are spread out that much and the zerg gets to dictate where to engage.

If you're not supporting via ads or ppv buys, you are dead weight. oh so there is a difference if i don't watch at all or watch a restream? you can maybe say that about restreamers. But i guess most of people that watch restream wouldn't have paid after all and are watching it only because there is a restream , i doubt they are "killing esports"

And in the case of Stephano vs MC, Stephano winning yesterday was an 'upset', he has never beat MC before. I will admit, i said it again twice, just cause it feels good finding something that stephano isn't 'omg the best at'. Hopefully mc doesn't let stephano tie it up though, thats if mc beats symbol

Plus he was teching and upgrading. Not all in by any means. In fact, if MC had held perfectly and then pushed with a decent ball, Symbol could have dropped main with that build as soon as MC moves out making it a build that re-acts fine even if it does 0dmg with first attack so I feel like calling it all in is quite far fetched.

Its just not balanced any more. I'll give you the same advice Toss gives all Terran players.. L2P, nothing wrong, it's just you bla bla bla. Sound familiar??

Or if you can only watch on certain days like me this weekend ? I'm not going to pay full price if i just want a fraction of the content . The problem isn't that its PPV itsself. If you talk like that, then the problem itself still lies that it is too expensive. Take for example GSL, I never heard people complain that they want only vods or only hq stream and hence only pay the fraction of the price.

For the past few months I've been trying to be pro-esports...trying to get my friends into it etc. Also ranting on TL about what the foreign scene needs to do to catch up to Korea, esports economy and infrastructure etc. Then I realized I hadn't spent a single dollar on any event or anything or supported any player in anyway, no GSL ticket or anything... So ya, I think a lot of us want e sports to grow but we're just not doing anything about it. You're not required to "do anything for eSports". If you don't want to pay, you don't pay. That's how the free market works. If you think it's worth it, you pay for it. If you don't, that's fine too. If you pirate the stream, you're not a customer anyway so you're not worth paying any attention to. The kind of people that watch restreams either can't afford it in the first place so there's no lost sale there or won't pay for it in which case they were never part of your potential market anyway. Their opinion isn't relevant, they're a null statistic, they essentially don't exist. Focus on catering to the people that do. PPVs only need a small fraction of the viewership of a free-view tournament to make more money. Each PPV pass customer is worth many times as much as a free viewer would ever be.

Just like it doesn't kill the sales of video games. The people who pirate wouldn't have paid anyway, they would have just went without.

Btw. these are by no means "extra" or supplementary events, they determine the seeds for the championship, which is incredibly important in their format.

A lot of conventions have a weekend pass and then daily ones. The problem is how many people would /just/ buy the final day? You can't have the final day be 1/3 the price...maybe half price for the last day, so that the weekend is still a bargain for those who are going to use it. A range of pricing options would be nice. But.... we know some people would still be bitching even if MLG sent them complimentary hookers.

If you have a PPV event of this high quality, then people (if they can't get restreams) will want to watch so bad that they'll just realize its worth it for 20 dollars. Saying "oh, but I just wouldn't have watched" is a horrible argument because in reality all you contribute is an increased societal faith in restreams, and the willingness to hurt esports just for your personal pleasure.
